Saw it last night. Loved it. Easily my favorite movie of 2016.

I read the short story beforehand.

SPOILER

In a very real way, reading the story and then watching the movie contributed to the overall theme of knowing the end in the midst of the journey and still enjoying the ride.

Danny Etling vs Sean White

Posted by TigerHeel 99 on 10/24/16 at 8:45 am
I was having a conversation with one of my Auburn buddies and he took offense to my comment that I thought Danny Etling and Sean White were very comparable. He felt that White was a much better QB and pointed to the fact that he was leading the SEC in completion %, QBR, and Yards per attempt.

So here are their stats for the year:

Danny Etling: 89-147 1129 yds 60.5% 7.68 Yds/A 7 Td 3 Int 136.7 QBR

Sean White: 98-143 1264 yds 68.5% 8.84 Yds/A 7 Td 2 Int 156.1 QBR

So for the non-Auburn and LSU fans of the SECR, what do y'all think - is Danny Etling better, worse, or about the same as Sean White?

FREE HARRIS

The movement has begun...

Go back and watch the Spring Game and pay attention to Magee and Hilliard running the ball. They did not look good running the ball imo. Maybe that was because of the blocking, vanilla playcalling, etc, but after I watched that game, I began thinking we were going to NEED Fournette this year.

Maybe things have changed during Fall Camp. I know Miles has heaped praise on both Magee and Hilliard this Fall. I think that may be his way of dialing back expectations on Fournette after calling him Michael Jordan, etc. I'm also just waiting to see it on Hilliard. He's had his flashes at times, but he just looks too slow hitting the hole to me. Maybe he puts it all together but I'll believe it when I see it.

Look at our carries for RB last year:

Hill - 203
Magee - 86
Blue - 71
Hilliard - 68
Copeland - 13

I think all three backs see significant carries this year, but I expect Fournette to take over the job by midseason a la J.Hill in 2012 and finish somewhere around 185 carries.

Here's how I think it will break down this year:

Fournette - 185
McGee - 125
Hilliard - 85
Williams - 30

do I like seeing them hold it up? No, of course not. But have some perspective man. Jesus. Look at what we have gone through. This has been the year from hell. if the team doesn't quit and goes out and finishes strong, then you should feel proud. If not, go root for the team who is gonna win the NC every year. frick. It's not like Bama has dominated us. shite just has been falling together. Don't let it define your life. Have perspective and quit being a fricking pussy. It's like half the male fans of LSU have turned into the biggest whiny pussies I've ever seen. So what? Your rivals wins a championship. We held up the SEC championship last year while they sat at home. Did you forget that?

1000x This.

AR is not the same team now that played AL. Not even close. Bequette and Wright bring a whole new level to our D. They are our best players on D. To say AR was flat against the Tide would be a huge understatement. Adams had his worst game ever. There were dropped passes, countless silly penalties, blown special teams coverages, and stupid turnovers that we couldn't overcome. Our problem this year has been consistency and keeping everything together for 4 quarters. Our OLine has improved and has started to provide better coverage for Wilson which spells trouble for anyone if he is given time to look off first and second options. To sum it up...we played like shite against AL, but we are much much better now. LSU has a great team. I'm excited for the game. I'm sure Petrino will have his boys ready by then.

Good post.

Most solid reasoning I've seen yet. It only took us 5 pages to get there.

Solid argument.

LSU brought a top 15 defense last year that was giving up like 15 points a game. We doubled it. Your CB's and safety's are good. But your LB's are your weakness and you know. We won't be going deep on you but 5-15 yard passes all game.

Fair point, but I think this year's LSU defense is a lot better than last year's LSU defense and Arkansas doesn't have Ryan Mallet or Knile Davis and is playing away from home.

Looking SOLELY at this year, I haven't heard of a good reason why Arkansas can win this game other than exploiting LSU's LBs. That may happen (and if there's anybody who can gameplan for that it would be Petrino) but I don't think your defense can keep your offense in the game.

You are going to need lots of LSU mistakes and turnovers to win the game. It certainly COULD happen, I just don't think it's probable to happen.

My point still stands. Don't know if you guys have watched any LSU games this year, but we've been pretty good at scoring non-offensive TDs this year...

So your best win is South Carolina (who put up 21 points on your defense after they put up 14 ppg against Miss. St and Tennessee and 17 against Fla).

Sounds good.

Have you guys given up more than 10.7?

Obviously, yes. The two best offenses we've seen were Oregon and WVU. They put up 27 and 21 respectively.

I could see Arkansas putting up somewhere between 21-27, but I don't see y'all putting up 42.

South Carolina (without Lattimore) put up 28 on you guys...

If you score 35, its because we have 42

So you're dropping 42 on our defense that's giving up 10.7 a game.

How is that going to happen (aside from allusions to past seasons that may or may not have any bearing on 2011)?

LSU averages 36.5 points a game.

Arkansas is giving up 21.5 points a game.

It's not that unreasonable to think we hit our average at home.

Let me follow your logic...

1. The Arkansas/LSU game is historically close.

2. Arkansas beat LSU in a similar situation in 2007 in Baton Rouge.

3. Arkansas beats LSU in 2011.

Is this your argument?

re: Who is Arkansas' best win?

Posted by TigerHeel 99 on 11/14/11 at 1:16 pm to
It's a legitimate point.

Arkansas has not beaten anybody that's good (save for South Carolina at home, albeit without their best player).

They have struggled away from home to beat a mediocre A&M team, a BAD Ole Miss team, and Vandy.

Meanwhile, LSU has beaten Oregon and Alabama on the road.

I don't think Arkansas stays within double digits.

All flaming aside (because I admit I did kind of goad you guys a little to invoke some response), but tell me why I'm wrong.

So far, the only response I've gotten is Vandy...
