This thread is reminiscent of the JD year 1 - second loss to FSU threads.
SL was a 3 star. He plays like a 3 star that's rusty and returning from injury.
Bottom line, the staff will get the best SL has to give each week and he will improve incrementally as the season progresses. Possibly giving LSU a punchers chance.
CLK year one isn't the big picture.

CBK fielded 1/3 of a team each season he was here. Sometimes that 1/3 played well. Special Teams was always a disaster.
His legacy at LSU was his firing.
The timing of his dismissal put the entire College FB universe on notice.

My brother has been feeding deer for so long he can shake a bucket with corn in it and they come running.
Same with a friend in Texas when he cranks up his Ranger to fill feeders the deer follow it like cattle.

I'm only discussing what the team has done two games into the CLK era.
SL will improve his timing over the course of the season. I believe he immediately improves concerning last weeks turn overs.

Ask yourself how many times this season has the team over pursued the qb.
"Qb contain" is a trademark of Monte Kiffin's Defense that won the SB for Tampa Bay 2002. Pretty sure CLK passed the info along. Plus HP and others aren't on the field avoiding contact.

I agree about the Defense and believe they will seriously hinder the OM Offense.
I don't believe Sam will be "on-point" anymore than what we've seen. I certainly believe he has been coached to protect the ball. I feel he does that, along with keeping drives alive (legs/arm) and putting LSU in scoring position.

Have you seen a qb run against this Defense this season your point is moot.
The Defense is not over pursuing the qb this season, so far.

This Defense is as good as any I've seen 2 games in. They don't over pursue the qb and are gap disciplined.
Reminds me of Monte Kiffin's Defense at Tampa Bay. Kiffin was a master at shutting down scramblers.
The way CLK and staff have added pieces to 100% transform the Defense in one off season breeds a welcomed confidence.

LSU Offense gains a lot of yards and is positioned to score a lot through 2 games. They have played reckless but absolutely will not take opportunities to score for granted in the first half.

Loud and clear but I would bet my house if LSU was playing someone noteworthy the play calling wouldn't have been so aggressive and the red zone turnovers would have been field goals instead. My .02 anyway
