One change that would benefit Paul Mainieri
Posted by Jambalaya Sauce on 5/8/21 at 3:51 pm
The man needs to make a decision. Either dye his hair black or dye his eyebrows white. Having two different colors of hair on his head makes it hard to take him seriously, plus it has GOT to be off putting to potential recruits. I always talk about the little things, but they all add up to make a difference.

EXACTLY.
BEEN THERE. Done that.
Only people who don’t truly know baseball think getting rid of Paul is the answer. It’s the millennial mentality.

Uniformity and discipline are both very important parts of building team culture and championships.
Y’all will laugh at this statement, but I think CPM allowing facial hair for the first time last season was a turning point in his career. He started bending to what his players wanted instead of maintaining discipline.

What's up with the baseball necklaces?

Why do all of our players wear jewelry on the field? I look back at the great LSU teams of old, not a single player wearing jewelry. You don't see that in any other sport. Running bases with a necklace hitting their face. I just think its a distraction, that's all. If I'm CPM I'm banning that immediately.
Edit: I realize this may be some sort of holistic accessory like my copper fit band, but I don’t know for sure.

You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.

I think when you have nothing to lose and everything to gain you make some risky decisions to make some things happen. You can’t look at a bad year and make a statement like “he has poor baseball strategy.” He’s one of the greatest to ever coach, that doesn’t happen overnight.

Mainieri is playing the long game. He knows what he’s doing.
I too have gone through the fire of being on the hot seat coaching my sons usaa team. I silenced all the critics by winning a multi tournament sweep and ending up in Cooperstown (this is before they just handed out championship rings to kids). You silence critics with wins. You are refined by the fire. It only made me and that U12 team stronger.
Side note we did not win a ring.

Mainieri is paid very well to lead what was once an established elite program.
2017 was only 4 years ago, big dawg. And you can hardly count 2020 as a season.

The posts I'm reading are insane.
Mainieri (the winningest active coach in the NCAA) is getting questioned by a bunch of guys that have no clue what they are talking about.
The man knows baseball more than anyone out there and, frankly with the way our fans are, we don't deserve him. The game hasn't changed, fellas. It's baseball. He'll get things turned around, trust me.
You all sound like a bunch of little league moms.

Completely agree.

We do NOT need to look past this one. UCLA will be fired up--this is their bowl game. I know we have a lot of young guys on our team, I hope the leadership and the coaches can keep everyone focused.
If we come out and beat UCLA, we win 10 games.
If we come out and lose to UCLA, we win 4 games.
It's THAT important.
I see a lot of pictures of our players eating crawfish on the practice field. Hope we are taking it seriously.

It’s sad what has become of amateurism in this country. It used to be for love of the game. Now it’s all about chasing checks.
A big part of this is coaching. What are we teaching these kids? What music are we allowing in the locker room? Where is our integrity?
What ever happened to the John Woodens, the Tom Landrys, the Tony Dungys.
As much as I HATE that coach at Bama, you don't see his top players opting out.

You guys know I'm the biggest tiger fan out there, but as far as I'm concerned Chase quit on us, and I will lay down my personal pride for the sake of the sport I love.
If he is WR1 in the draft, say goodbye to college football as we know it. More and more kids will be opting out early. Mark my words.

At some point...when all LSU sports are struggling...it’s time to look further up the chain...higher than the coaches. Just saying.

Punter U. When you look at Jerry Stoval, Donte Jones, Brad Wing, and now ZVR; I think we could possibly be considered punter U in the near future.

Great point. I gotta say now that Leach is at State it would be very tempting to go there as a great QB. Say what you will about the man-he can develop a QB, and the whole offense revolves around the pass game.
