Yes. Milam played SS in some scrimmages last fall and spring and looked fine.

Kucherack also has looked good in summer league and is a great defender. Just doesn’t have the power to be a 3B like Jay wants.

Vanderbilt will turn their nose up at Wade because of his reputation, whether fair or not. I guarantee it.

Definitely. Especially with who their AD is. No way she’d hire Wade.

I also don’t think he’d go to a place like Vandy. He knows he wouldn’t have the resources to do what he needs to do to get players.

Paywall. Cliffs?

Here you go:

Pitching -

- Hurd, Holman, & Jump are looking to be the weekend rotation, with Herring and Ackenhausen being mentioned as possibilities to start.
- Cam Johnson to be developed and likely a backend of games arm for now.
- Guidry will focus on pitching (end of games) again this season, but they will continue to develop him as a 2-way player, which could be used for situational purposes when rosters are reduced to 27 for SEC play.
- Loer, Woods, Herring, Ack, Little, Moffett, Primeaux, Dutton, & Bucknam look to be the primary bull pen arms in addition to the 2 listed above.
- Anderson could be a contributor in the pen as well.
- For those keeping count, that is a total of 12 bull pen arms mentioned in addition to the already strong starting rotation. That is stupid deep for college.

Lineup/Position -

- Confirmed the Pearson to 2B move and looks to be solid there.
- Neal will still be a primary catching option; but they will develop some options by having him work 4 other positions (2B, 3B, corner OF)
- Confirmed Brown is the front-runner for starting OF position, with Kling & Bingham as definite starters. H/e, he mentioned Frey, Ruddell, and Larson all will have opportunities to try and grab the position, especially if Brown struggles.
- Brown will remain a 2-way player & could still pitch some; but the focus this year will be as a position player & hitter.

Injuries/Roster (Redshirts) -

- White still on good pace for recovery and expected to be 100% by Opening Day. Currently hitting and throwing every other day. I suspect we will see him only on a limited basis for spring scrimmages.
- Hope to have Noot back by late March/early April. Pushing to have Shores back later in the season.
- Seo and Lape will receive medical RS's due to pre-existing injuries before arriving, which is an interesting statement given that Seo did begin the fall pitching in a scrimmage.
- Cooley, Dale, & Thompson will be redshirted.
- With those 5, that should get LSU to the 40 roster limit.

She was on the Team USA U17 team last year; so I'm think she didn't rapidly age by 2 years since then.

She won't turn 18 till this July; so that isn't the reason for it.

Like someone else stated, maybe she just declined an invite for this year. I know someone said Van Lith did similarly for the 2023 Team USA AmeriCup trials that both Reese and Flau'jae were invited to.

I didn’t realize you were going to Round Rock too. I’ll be there as well. What section will you be in?
I have 2 you can have. But I imagine you can find 4 spots together somewhere this saturday with everything else that is going on. Typically there are 2 more right in front or right behind mine that are often open.

If you want them, let me know and I'll email you about them.

re: Grant Taylor any news?

Leah Vann said in response to this question on Twitter that she is being told it is “nothing serious”.

Looks like we are all good.

Adam, I'm curious why you don't have Jones in your list?

He played 1B primarily in the fall when he wasn't catching. In fact, he played the position ahead of Frey when they were on the same team in the fall. I actually thought he looked a little better there than Frey did.

In early spring scrimmages, he has been used at 3B on the team opposite of White, but that is in part due to Dugas being out and then Nippolt got hurt in Saturday's scrimmage necessitating a need for another utility type player on the infield. But putting Jones at 3B would suggest he has the lateral movement and glove to play 1B well too.

Because of his bat, I'd have him as the primary backup to Morgan.

So lunchboxes and ice chests are aloud?

Yep. They don't have any LSU workers or security at these scrimmages. Maybe next weekend if they do something like a "Fan Day" then it might change things up a bit for that particular day; but all in all, most of the scrimmages have no rules and no one to really stop you with respect to what you bring in.

Of course, keep it somewhat conservative. We want to be appreciative of the fact that Jay is continuing to allow fans in the stadium to watch. So we don't want to do anything too obnoxious that would cause him or LSU to want to change that.

I would say the silver lining of last night, and hopefully moving forward, is that it looked like he was willing to give Ward and Reed a few minutes. Hopefully that continues and increases in order to see what you really have in them for the future and try to develop them.

Can’t imagine how wild Tennessee is going to be.

Funny thing is that they had some TN accounts on Twitter yesterday trying to let TN fans know that LSU's individual game sales were happening today and for them to go and buy up all the tickets in order to "turn the stadium orange".

let me tell you a secret. They won't win another game till next year. Might lead somewhere this year but they will not win again.

I'm not anywhere close to being positive about this team - anymore (I was after the Arky win) - but, I have a hard time seeing this being true.

SC, OM, MSU, and UGA are all winnable games. I'm not saying they will win them all, but they are certainly winnable for even this team.

Why do y'all care if Kent Lowe retires or not?

Generally he is a background guy that fans have no interaction with or even know what he does, nor does his performance have some huge impact on the program in a positive or negative way. He's the media relations guy. He gets press conferences set up, handles media requests for coaches and players, disseminates info. for press releases, and keeps track of historical info. of the program. That's really all he does. Why do you need some youthful person in there to do that?

As for last night, he was a last minute fill in. It's not like that is his regular job function to do. I'm sure he knows he isn't great at it.

Are the concessions a full go during the scrimmages?

They aren't open. As someone mentioned, you can bring your own food/drinks into the stadium though.

Moneys velo looked down huh?

Honestly that is something I didn’t pay a ton of attention to. I remember looking a few times on his FB and noticed around 91 or 92 it seems. But from what I vaguely recall, I feel like that’s what he was around more consistently in the fall too; but I wouldn’t swear to that.

Unless Wes can get him right and going, I feel like he’s only going to be good for maybe an inning of relief at most. Tends to look pretty good for 1 and then starts getting hit around after that.
quote:

Thanks Law, I edited my OP to show correct pitching lines.

Not a problem. You have a lot going on and can be tough when they’re all on the same team wearing same uniforms.

Plus when I went sat with you at the end I saw the little rug rats you were having to deal with. LOL
quote:

Does anyone know who Jones and Frey took deep?

Jones was off of Money. Absolute laser shot.

Frey was off of Moffett. As I put on another board and to steal Jay’s phrase, it was “light tower power” on his. From the stands, ball looked like it arced as high as the light pole in LF and then came down almost right by the pole in the bleachers.

He routinely hit the day after pitching at air force. I think it was just a guess from some posters that he would take the day off after pitching. But i dont think thats true unless jay said it and i missed it.

Jay hasn’t said it. This was started by something Hunt Palmer said on the On3 board. He has cultivated relationships inside the program, namely with Jay, and he posted what he was hearing was that Skenes would pitch Fridays, rest Saturday, and DH Sundays and midweek.

However, he also noted that it is possible for Skenes to see some ABs on Saturday in pinch hit situations, especially later in games or against lefties.

All of which makes a lot of sense to do. The only thing Jay has noted and been adamant about is that they realize Skenes’s future is in pitching and that they will do right by him and the team, and not over work him.

Ding, ding, ding…we have a winner.

This, plus as has been mentioned, he is our ace and potentially one of the best pitchers in the country. He truly has the potential to supplant Crews as 1/1 for the draft. You don’t pitch that guy on Sundays in the SEC.
