re: Darian Claiborne

I think he is one of those guys who will "slip" out of the state and be solid for another school. Saw him play against parkview last year, kid played both ways the whole game and went 100 MPH all the time, he was a gamer. I just don't think he has the tools beckwith has, he is barely 6 feet and has a dumpy frame and not overly fast. After seeing him and beckwith play, claiborne was more impressive, you could see his heart and attitude.
why does lecompte fire so many of his assistants?
Brick was also DC at baylor under steele, would be lots of familiarity

along with steele & chavis being connected, brick was steele's dc at baylor, that would be a lot of staff familiarity

i don't think terry joseph is too highly thought of as a position coach.
Greg Jackson would be solid, former tiger with NFL & college experience
I think ensminger recruits northwest Louisiana & dallas area, neither of which have ever been hot beds for LSU. Evangel kids aren't locks to LSU like most west monroe kids nor do they always pan out in college. Shreveport is kind of hit or miss for football talent yearly IMO and we have never been very strong in dallas area. That said, i wonder how good a recruiter he really is, regardless of where his area is. I imagine he does bring alot to the table as a coach, been around major college football a while and has seen alot and would probably be a good resource. I think our tight ends have been good under him. Stud couldn't pull devall from bastrop & i think haley is now going to recruit north east LA instead of stud. When ensminger got hired it was down to him and a younger coach in houston area who was a recruiter....we went with ensminger.
josh reed is coaching at Port Allen high school
Back as the head coach at brusly, went to playoffs last year
Not sure on exactly what but from what I have heard the principal just wanted someone they knew or felt comfortable with. I'm sure he will land on his feet, well respected guy
Ken is being forced out at scotlandville. Definitely doesn't make sense, he did a great job with them but he seems to move alot. He was an assistant at Plaquemine. As far as Dominique goes, i just heard his name tossed around. I would think its hiltons job
Ken Hilton from Scotlandville
Ferrante Dominique formerly of white castle

when sid first got there they ran an air raid tony franklin type system with neil weiner, he left, mahaffey comes in, runs the same type of offense. Sid quits, dotson brings simoneaux in and they go to a flexbone for a year, then simoneaux gets told they are going back to an air raid the next year and not by dotsons choice. im not sure if its sid or others who want that offense but that is what i meant by it

what about chad mahaffey? he was at central and runs the kind of offense they want

re: Gonzo on his way to Louisville?

Illinois makes sense as does louisville. Gonzales and Beckman coached together at Bowling Green under CUM and beckman runs that type of spread so they have a history.

Gonzo on his way to Louisville?

LINK

wouldnt be a surprise, they coached at florida and louisville runs a spread and rumors are he wasnt happy when he didnt get OC job here
i think billy gonzales from LSU, they coached together at florida and strong wants to run a spread like they did.
so where should ya eat in tuscaloosa?
the coach you are having trouble understanding is former tiger marcus randall...
I saw Petrino's offense described as a one-back pro spread which i think is accurate. They are more one-back than 2 and with a guy like Mallett i think more "NFL" routes were used because he had the arm. Definitely pass first but not a shotgun throw it 60 times, more pro style with outside zone runs and bootlegs but they run a lot of shallow cross stuff which i think is more prevalent in college.
Ole Miss and UGA seem to be throwback offenses. primarily I-form or Ace. Nutt offsets this with the wildcat but UGA seems to rely on players to make the system go. It doesnt look like they try to outscheme or alter much, have a line that can blow people off ball and take deep shots with guys like AJ Green
Bama i think is close to an east coast type offense. dont really use a fullback but run first, to set up play-action and they stay within the system
I agree with the vol fan, kiffin was pro-style and cheney has added some spread stuff to it.
I think some offenses are about system like the spread at moo state or malzahns spread, its principles and formations, shifts etc but with guys like petrino and spurrier, its their ability to call plays and press the right buttons in rythym and attack a defense.
