Opinions on putting dog down. Help needed!
Posted by Cblack23 on 2/4/23 at 7:56 pm
Little back story… We took in a rescue that was severely injured on her back. Looked like a car or predator had removed a large portion of the hide on her back and exposed the flesh. We nursed her and brought her comfort, but the wound would never heal. It’s been a long battle of a little over four years. We’ve taken her to multiple vets and there aren’t any solutions. She is living in pain and we are continuously fighting infections to her wounds. It’s gotten to the point to where we are wondering if we are doing the right thing for the dog or if we should put her out of her misery. Her wounds have recently taken a turn for the worse and the infection has spread to normally healthy tissue. I came to this board because I know y’all would give the best advice in a bizarre situation. Anybody have a situation similar with a successful ending?
Thanks in advance

Insulated vs non-insulated Garage doors for new home?
Posted by Cblack23 on 12/27/22 at 6:09 pm
In the building process now, garage is attached to Acadian style home. Garage exterior walls are not insulated. Garage door companies offer insulated and non-insulated options. Doors to face North. Cost increases by 18%
I’m wondering what benefits I could get out of insulated garage doors other than some noise reduction?
Any advice is appreciated

Propane tank for whole house opinions and costs?
Posted by Cblack23 on 8/12/22 at 8:55 am
Building a new house and planning to use gas for appliances. Issue is the house will be about 800 feet from the nearest natural gas tie in. Gas company quoted about $9k for gas pipe install. What are the cost associated with installing a home sized propane tank? What are pros and cons of the using a tank vs city gas connection?
TIA

7yo wants to work out! Please help

My 7 yo boy wants to get stronger. Is it safe to let him start doing push ups, sit ups, squats, things of that sort? Or should I encourage him to wait a little longer? Any help greatly appreciated I am no expert
re: BAR tires for ZRT

Best money I’ve spent this year was upgrading my ZTR tires. Still remember it’s a lawn mower and not a ATV cause when it gets stuck you’ll no longer be able to just get off and turn it 90 and get back going, you’ll need something to pull it out… ask me how I know

Chainsaw recommendations needed
Posted by Cblack23 on 6/6/21 at 12:07 pm
A large oak tree fell and I don’t have a chainsaw. The tree is about 2’ in diameter at its base. TS has Husqvarna saws and a local store has Stihl. Is Stihl the best choice? And what size would be right for this job?

If you already have a tractor, a large finish mower might be in your budget.

Don’t knock it til you try it. I’m using a 100qt pot and get plenty compliments when people come eat. It’s not too salty and the heat really gets into the bugs

I haven’t used Cajun Land so I won’t be any help there. Get you two, yes two, 4.5lb packs of louisiana and put both of them in for the first boil. Second boil add 16oz of liquid and half another 4.5lb bag of louisiana.

They’re all under 6yo. We have decent public school in our area.

You’re right, we purchased property in 2018 with the intention to build in 2021, little did we know what 2020 would do to the construction material prices.
Just wanted to survey some smart people’s opinions.
Thanks for all the replies

What is the “normal” ratio of mortgage loan vs annual income?
Posted by Cblack23 on 2/22/21 at 5:57 pm
I’m about to jump into a mortgage that is roughly 2.3 times what I bring in annually. Am I “OK” at this rate or am I forcing myself into a tough situation?
Additional info...
Single income
3 kiddos
Other than mortgage, bills/other debts are typically 23% of income
Appreciate any advice, TIA.

I mainly use a shimano curado spooled with power pro slick 50 pound braid tied to a 15 pound fluorocarbon leader with a uni-uni knot on a 7’ medium Falcon coastal rod.
I’ve caught anything from 34” red to a throwback speckled trout on it, works great IMO.

Last night felt like 2018 UCF game

Had a few really bright spots show up in the game. Including a lot of quality play and experience for our second and third stringers.
Maybe this game will instill the same level of confidence the players had in Burrow after that game into Max for next season.
Things are looking up freaks, buckle up and lefts ride with Burrow’s left handed little brother.
