Five years ago I sold 35 acres of pine timber for $2500/acre and two years ago I sold 40 acres of pine timber for $3400/acre. Both were about 35 years old and had been thinned twice before. So if you have good timber, loggers will be interested. My property is in SE Alabama. Since then pulpwood prices have dropped significantly to around $2.50/ton but chip-n-saw and logs are still good. I replanted both at around 500/acre; down from 600-700 in years past. You probably can’t get cost shares for planting loblolly but can with longleaf. Btw, I’m a retired forester who managed and sold timber all over Alabama.

I’ve thought about that but the land has been in my family for a century. They are buying around 2000 acres of the adjoining property so they probably won’t need mine also.

I recently got news that an adjoining landowner is planning to sell his land for the purpose of a data center. My property is a tree farm with good deer and turkey hunting. It is only accessible through the adjoining landowner’s property by way of a dirt county road; the county road ends at my property. It is located in SE Alabama. What would you guys suggest as to my options if any? How might the data center affect my property value and access, etc? Any thoughts? I don’t live on the property. Thanks

Hundreds of the little bastards. I’m a forester. They seem to like my yard too.
We went to Acadia about 10 years ago; spent 4-5 days in the main park and surrounding areas. We loved it. Two years ago we were heading to Newfoundland and stopped over at the Schoodic Peninsula. It’s nice but underwhelming compared to the main Acadia Park. Just my opinion.

It’s been a while but I liked it.
Fire will not terminate privet!!! You may kill the tops but it WILL resprout. Now if you burn it every year, you may kill some as frequent fires will deplete the food reserves in the roots. The best way to kill privet is with roundup or other herbicides. If you have a tractor and grapple, they are pretty easy to uproot.

I played trombone in 6th and 7th grades but had to quit when I got braces on my teeth. I was never any good though.

As much as I love Paul, he’s lost it; voice is terrible.
I saw them fronting for the Allman Brothers in the early 70’s. Awesome band
