re: Does everyone know why the communists chose March 8th to celebrate Int. Women’s Day?
Posted by TexasTiger86 on 3/9/24 at 8:34 am
I am actually leaning more toward this could be plausible based solely on the information provided on the International Women's Day website. I also think the origins of this beyond the date are interesting.
1909- the first National Woman's Day was observed in the US, and it was started by the Socialist Party of America.
1910- Clara Zetkin of Germany proposed the idea of an international women's day. Clara Zetkin was a communist and part of the Communist Party of Germany.
1917- Russian women began to strike on February 23 on the Julian calendar but this is actually March 8 in the Gregorian calendar. The February Revolution in Russia began on the same day.
Before this, it didn't appear that women's days were celebrated on a particular day. For example:
-In America, from 1909 to 1913, it was celebrated on the last Sunday of February
-in 1911 Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland held it for the first time on March 19
-In 1913, Russia celebrated it on February 23
-In 1914, a march was held in London on March 8
There didn't appear to be a cohesive date for celebrating International Women's Day, so why did they choose March 8? I think its interesting that the IWD history actually goes into detail about the difference between the Julian and Gregorian calendar when describing their role in the revolution. However, based on the information provided on the website, it isn't clear why this date was chosen. By the way, I included a link to their website so you can see for yourself.

It looks like that the guy who is playing that character was cast to play Rhys.

Jamie Lee Curtis is playing Patricia Tannis and Gina Gershon is playing Mad Moxxie.
I genuinely don’t know what they were thinking with the casting. They missed the mark on Lilith, Tannis and Moxxie by like 20+ years.

Weird, there is an article by the Daytona Beach News-Journal that discusses this event and said there were about 100 people there. Hmm, I wonder who is lying…

When is Ron going to work on repealing Florida's bump stock ban? He wasn't in office when it was voted on and implemented so he obviously shouldn't get the blame for it.
However, has he done anything to repeal it? He called for repealing the federal bump stock ban, but it doesn't seem like he has tried to repeal the Florida one. Why would you trust him to repeal the Federal one when he hasn't done it in Florida with a supermajority?

Michigan’s offense had less than 300 total yards in 3 of their last 4 games. The only game they were over 300 was against OSU where they had 340 yards and were outgained by OSU. Why does Michigan get a pass with their crappy offense, but FSU gets eliminated because of theirs?

She was hired as the US Ambassador to the UN, not Secretary of State.

So, I guess that tweet would be considered fake news if this message was actually directed at the Nevada caucus and had nothing to do with Iowa right?

It didn’t prove anything. They showed all of this wide angle footing to prove that the Hamas rockets were shot down but didn’t include the same wide angle shots to prove it was Israel. Why not? Probably because it would prove that it was Hamas.
re: Does Trump deserve any blame for the 2020 election outcome?
Posted by TexasTiger86 on 8/9/23 at 12:24 pm
Ah, this again. There was already a thread about this. Yes, he signed the bill that passed 96-0 in the Senate and 419-6 in the House. Be honest. Would it have made any sense to veto a bill that passed in both house with a combined 99% majority? If you want to be mad, be mad at all the Republicans in Congress that voted for it. Why do they get a pass?
Also, Massie ended up voting FOR the CARES Act. He didn’t abstain and he didn’t vote against the bill. In fact, only 2 Republicans went on the record as voting against the bill while 12 abstained.

The CARES Act passed 96-0 in the Senate and 419-6 in the House. Vetoing a bill that passed with those numbers would have been insane.

re: California’s new toilet to tap water program
Posted by TexasTiger86 on 7/12/23 at 1:52 pm
I don’t know any specifics about El Paso water but in general, there is a difference between safe drinking water and good tasting drinking water. Not all safe drinking water tastes good because there could be some dissolved solids in the water that will change the taste of the water. For example, I don’t like the drinking water in places like Houston because the water is harder.
Some plants may include processes that will change the taste, color or odor of the water to make it more palatable but the main goal for most water treatment plants is to produce safe drinking water for the public.

California is crazy for a lot of their ideas but this is not of them. This isn’t even a new idea. Direct water reuse plants have been installed in a lot of places around the world that have water scarcity issues. The oldest direct potable water reuse plant was built in the 1960s in Namibia.
El Paso is starting construction this year on a purification plant that will turn wastewater into potable water.

re: Cult Confirmed: 19% of FL GOP voters think supporting someone besides Trump is “disloyal”
Posted by TexasTiger86 on 7/10/23 at 11:47 am
That question only mentions supporting someone in a primary. It mentions nothing about supporting them in a general election. In the same poll, the same percent of people would vote for Trump and Desantis against Biden, 49%. So, it seems like the loyalty is only for the primary so what's the problem?
Also, I think it is disingenuous of the pollster to not have the same question about Desantis. We have no idea if Desantis supporters would be equally as concerned about loyalty in the primary.

You were the same person who was praising the Florida GOP for requiring a loyalty pledge less than a week ago. Now loyalty is a bad thing because they are loyal to Trump?

Trump posts dozens of articles a day on his Truth Social account. Almost all of them are from right leaning sources like Breitbart, Daily Caller, and Right Side Broadcasting.
Are you claiming that him posting one article from MSNBC is enough to supersede the dozens of right leaning articles he posts?
