Oh yeah you could spend your whole weekend in Andersonville, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, North Center and do it all walking

The final weekend, my wife will be here with me and I have found a decent airbnb near the Rockwell station on the Brown Line.

This is my neighborhood. Let me know if you have any questions

If you do Seoul, I would suggest a visit to a KBO baseball league game (season is Mar-Oct). It's quite the unique baseball experience filled with cheap beer. I saw the Doosan Bears. I think the LG Twins are at the same stadium.

Great suggestion. I lived in Busan and love that city so much.
Where to stay depends on what you're looking for. I think this is a pretty good guide to your options:

The 9 Best Areas to Stay in Seoul

I always stayed in Hongdae because I lived in a different part of Korea and for me going to Seoul meant a weekend of partying. And I really like a neighborhood near Hongdae called Yeonnam-dong.

If you're only there for a short amount of time I'd recommend staying in Insa-dong. You'll get a bit of feel for traditional Korea and you will be closer to a lot of the main attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, museums etc.

I think you have to hit a Korean market like Gwangjang or Namdaemun which is also closer to Insa-dong. Gotta walk Cheonggyecheon river to Dongdaemun.

If you're there in good weather, hike up the mountain if you have time.

And you should do a jimjilbang, Korean spa.

It's been a while since I've been there so I wouldn't have any specific restaurant recommendations as they change so quickly over there. But you can't really go wrong with korean bbq joints

I lived in SK and can help answer questions if you have any

It depends on what you like. For me, 2 days in Kyoto is good enough for me. I rather spend more time in Tokyo. Where you stay is determined by what type of vibe you want and what you like to see and do. I based myself in Osaka and took a day trip to Kyoto and the next day took a half day trip to Nara. In Tokyo, it's the same with what type of vibe you want as well, but you can pretty much stay anywhere that's near a subway line for convenience. Shibuya and Shinjuku for night life, Ginza for shopping, Akihabara for anime stuff, Asakusa for more chill and historic vibes. I personally stayed in Akasaka. It's more of a chill salary-man vibe and was central to a lot of things I wanted to do.

Opposite for me. Much preferred Kyoto to Tokyo. And actually enjoyed my time in Osaka more than Tokyo. Agreed that 3 places in 8-10 days is too many.

Hanoi is our last stretch that we haven't booked anything for yet. Halong Bay looks awesome and it sounds like the junk boat tours are good. We're looking at visiting La Han Bay which is near that area. From the sound of it, there are less tourists and the views are great like Halong Bay.

That sounds like a good alternative. We'd heard some not great things from friends about their experiences in Halong Bay and decided to skip it and go to Sapa and that was amazing.

If you're doing to Da Nang you'll surely want to go to Hoi An. My wife and I rented a cottage out at An Bang beach and loved it.

We did a motorcycle from Hue to Da Nang through Hai Van Pass and it's one of my favorite things I've done in all my travels
For Grand Rapids breweries, I'd recommend City Built, Creston, Speciation, or Harmony . But Brewery Vivant is the real highlight of the GR beer scene.

If you go through Traverse City, Right Brain is pretty great.
I love Milwaukee but I have to say if I was doing your trip I would not go there and alott more of that time to the UP or Northwest Michigan. You didn't mention getting to Sleeping Bear Dunes which to me would be a must. I just think you'll probably never make it to the UP again whereas you may make it to Milwaukee another time.

Just be aware that September in the UP is peak black fly season and they can be brutal.

I wouldn't call it lesser known but if you haven't done The Whitney that's the obvious answer.

Taberna da Rua das Flores if you can get a table.

I really enjoyed The Old Pharmacy for port.

On Tour and Midwest. You can also hit up District Brew Yards to try a few different breweries.

My favorite in the city are way up north where I live. Half Acre, Begyle, Dovetail.

Cartagena was fine but not worth a week.

Fly to Medellin and go to at least one small mountain town. Salento was my favorite place in all of Colombia but that might be a bit far for a one week trip. Jardin may be easier to get to in that amount of time.

I didn't really stretch my list into Andersonville, but I should have because Hopleaf is worth it alone. Arguably, the best combination of food and beer in the city. Awesome atmosphere and a block from Simon's Tavern, which is a great dive. Little Bad Wolf commonly shows up on best burgers list in Chicago and Taste of Lebanon is one of the best Mediterranean / Middle Eastern restaurants in the city.

Went to Simon's on christmas day with my in laws and the owner gave us a free growler of glogg.
Finger Lakes

you said Lake Michigan but didn't say where so I'll say an inland lake in Michigan near Traverse City. Platte Lake, Crystal Lake, Torch Lake, etc.

Don't know the cabin scene, but Portland, Maine seems like it might fit your vibe.
