See in the video they moved him over to Wills left tackle spot. He will do well this year. I got a friend I went to high school with in the 70s that has a son playing for Neville. Michael Plummer. Good kid.

Been raising a grandson that plays DT for Minden. Was lined up on Wills side of the line last two years. After the regular season game last year, which was the 8th of the season, Coach Tannihill told my grandson, “you are one of, if not, the best player we played this year. “ to get a compliment from him meant a lot. Neville just has a lot of class from top top bottom. We were moved out of Neville’s district this season and put back in with the Shreveport teams. Probably end up meeting Neville in the playoffs again. We always do.
I know the Dline coach for Neville. He has some solid connections with Nebraska and TCU and Baylor. Having said that I dont see him pushing Heard in any direction. So I think it will be more up to where he wants to go. I believe he may be one of these guys that doesnt commit till signing day. I am from Minden, last two years we had to play Neville in district games as well as meeting them in the playoffs. Heard is the real deal I can tell you that. Only down side I can see is he has problems keeping his knees healthy. But most big guys have the same issue. My gut tells me he commits to LSU. I have no inside scoop on this, just my gut feeling.

I live in Minden and have been raising a grandson that plays DT for Minden. 6"2" 310lbs, massive shoulders, does 23 reps of 225 and is only 17. He already did a visit back in March. He was asked to attend the lineman camp June 10th. He is currently 43 on Dandy Dons list and holds offers from all three service academies. Hoping he does well. Makhi Reed is his name.

Thanks, that’s where I normally park for camps too. My grandson told me this evening they are supposed to send an itinerary tomorrow so hopefully they tell us where to park. If not I will get him to ask his recruiter to be sure.

LSU visit

Taking my grandson on LSU visit Saturday. Question I have is where do you park on a visit. In past at camps we always parked on other side of the practice fields away from the complex. There will be practice going on so I just don’t see them wanting us to park there and walk right through the middle of practice. So it has to be somewhere else. Anyone been on a visit that can tell me where I should be parking?
Heard played at Bastrop his freshman and sophomore years on the Dline. He played at Neville as OT last year and will again this year. He will not play on defense.

Doesn’t mean he is not projected as a Dlineman on the next level. We played them twice and I think he is on the same level as Will Campbell in his play. Big, quick with hands and feet with a nasty disposition.
Hey I understand. But at this point who cares what they have Campbell rated at? No one wins a trophy here based upon the star power of their recruits by a recruiting service.

Our coaches know what they have and in the end that’s all that matters.

In the end it’s all up to coaches to do a good job of evaluating. The stars are a way to identify players to look at. But the coaches should be doing their own evaluation of players. That’s all I was saying.

Seen a few 5 stars that never amounted to much in college.

I have seen people get all upset because we offer some 3 star player in the past. Got to trust the coaches.
Aaron Donald was ranked a 3 star by rivals. Limited D1 offers.

People need to stop worrying about the stars behind recruits names and put faith in the coaching staff being able to accurately evaluate recruits.

There are other players like Donald out there. You don’t want to be the team that passes over them because of what some recruiting service has to say.
We (Minden) played Neville. I have a grandson that lives with me that plays for Minden. I have a classmate who has a son that plays for Neville. We stay in contact with each other. He told me Heard is wanting to go to Texas A&M. Lots can change but at the moment that is where Heard is hoping to play.
I too grew up in south Louisiana and live in north west Louisiana. In early 90s there was a slight difference but now not so much.

There are a lot of good football recruits from up here along I20 corridor. Many end up at LSU. A few end up at Bama. But same thing happens down south too.

re: Ajay Allen RB from Neville

Ajay looked good behind that line he ran behind. Watched him play several times this year. However against Warren Easton he looked like a regular back. Against everyone else he ran through holes you could drive a truck through. He is a speed back not a pounder. I hear he is being looked at as a receiver at schools that are recruiting him. He is very fast.

Knee Braces

Posted by Camel24hrs on 11/24/21 at 6:56 pm
Anyone know what brand and model knee braces our OLinemen wear? Our booster club is looking into them for our high school team.
Completing passes with defenders in his face hitting him. He looked good in a clean pocket but we got no idea how he will handle pressure.
I believe the fact that 5 big ten players who had covid-19 ended up with heart damage. My guess is that was one of the deciding factors. The possible lawsuits from any someone filing a case against them for something like that had to weigh on their minds. I mean even if they were able to successfully fight and win the case, the cost of litigation would be high. Plus it would be a PR nightmare.

Hopefully they end up spelling out what all went into their decision. Would really be nice to know all the details.
We still have to play Georgia again.....in the SEC championship game!

Does he play both ways?

He has played both ways in 8th grade. We lost an offensive tackle to Calvary Baptist this off season. Do I think he might play some OT. But he is a stud on DL so I don’t know how much he will play there.

I think it would be a good move at some point. I do notice that a number of DL recruits end up as OT once they end up in college.

Something tells me he likes LSU.

Let me put it this way. When Burrow threw that TD to Clyde right before half of Alabama game he forgot he had that immobilizer on his knee and leapt off the sofa and then fell straight on his butt.

Now you talk to him and he is a typical teen. Loves attention. But he doesn’t react like that for any other team is watches.

Long way to go. Has to stay healthy and keep his grades up and hope he progresses enough to be LSU material. LSU is in position now to be very picky.

I am just very proud of him and if he doesn’t make the grade as LSU material he will get to go somewhere. We have hopes but in the end a D1 scholarship is the prize we are shooting far. And living LSU dream.

Next summer we plan on going back to LSU for the lineman camp.

My grandson that lives with me in Minden made that list. Makhi Reed.

He is 6’3” 285 15 year old with 80” wing span. Made both LSU and Alabama 3 day camps before his freshman season. Made the all Saban team at the Bama camp. (Not to worry he bleeds purple and gold)

4 games into freshman season he tore his left ACL. He has been released for summer camp but can’t do drills or contact till August first.

To see him on a list with Archie Manning’s grandson...wow proud grandfather!

Btw freshman GPA taking collage prep classes was 4.02.
