re: Why y'all hatin' on Ole Miss so much?

For one very simple reason:

Ole Miss fans are the only ones that think Ole Miss is relevant.

That's it. Really. I mean...you're 3-3 and becoming almost like a bye week for Arkansas...yet if one just reads the boards or listens to your insecure fans you'd think you have more NCs than Bama.

Any success you've had is obviously due to significant recruiting violations that most of you choose to try and pretend aren't obvious.

Other than that...we love you guys because you are an easy W during a very tough SECW schedule. Check the stats...Arkansas far prefers playing your preppy asses vs. Mississippi State. They actually play big boy football vs. that HS garbage.

Do you have another question? Happy to answer if you do.

I just have to say, that was a beautiful answer. Seriously, just a great work of literature from beginning to end. I want to take your words and weave them into a series of haikus. It's that good. Thank you.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm just so grateful for this thread right now. If you haven't put in your .02, you really, really should. It's not just gratifying; it's more than that. You feel as though you've done a service to all of mankind, and maybe even a few Auburn grads who got their degree and just kept studying and studying until they KNEW how to read.

But let's be real here, there's no guarantee you will ever have someone LITERALLY ask for this, not when there are sooo many great answers to burn them with. For that reason alone, you owe it to yourself, and we all owe it to those 2-3 dozen brave Auburn alum who can read this, but who cannot yet speak (not in written form, anyway) for themselves! Make it count!

Are you working on some kind of reverse jinx? If so, I have the utmost respect for what you're doing. If no, I'm really confused.

Care to help me out on this one?

Mostly because of the blatant cheating, the undeserved praise, and the overdue NCAA investigation which still hasn't handed down a punishment.

But I could actually forgive all that- I mean ALL OF IT, if you people hadn't come up with the phrase "Land Shark Defense". Every time Ole Miss makes a damn tackle we gotta listen to this crap.

It's like Freeze has switched to paying announcers, you know, while the heat's still on, and he's giving so much per "land shark".

I get what you are saying, but Wisky's losses are by a touchdown each game. Arky's losses are by an average of three TD's each. And Wisky's defense is better than the Hogs. But your offense is better. No doubt.

I do not like it when Wisconsin succeeds, and I don't think they have a Top 10 resume, but at least have a good win against LSU and an elite defense.

The one I'm pissed about is Nebraska at #8. Has anyone checked out their schedule?? They're undefeated against no one, and they're not even blowing them out! They win against turrible competition by about 10-12 points, and that puts them at 8???

Fun fact: Their biggest win, and the ONLY team the Huskers have played with a winning record is freaking Wyoming!

Yes, you read that right. Wyoming has a football team, and apparently they carry a lot of weight with the voters.

What a joke.
He's somewhere around 16-12, but half were from that first season when the ball couldn't bounce any other way but Auburn's.

Swap Kentucky and Bama for basketball season. Big 2.

Ya, and then just swap out Arkansas for Track and Field. Big 3, am I right?

Right guys?

Guys?? Am I right???

Be patient; I expect you'll finish the season somewhere close to the top 10. If you don't, it won't be from lack of opportunity. Regardless, the future is bright in LA.

I was sick about it when ya'll finally got rid of Les. I'm just glad we get you guys the week after you play Bama every year. If you keep Orgeron or get Herman/Briles then the Tigers are going to be scary good for the foreseeable future.

Dooley didn't quite make it to 20 SEC losses. He finished 4-19 in the SEC Although the stat is wrong. Ed Orgeron was 3-21 at Ole Miss

So by my math, that's three teams we must exclude in order to make this thing a thing. Boy, just when you think a topic couldn't fail any worse, huh?

When Bret Bielema gets his 20th SEC loss this weekend @ Auburn he will be the fattest non UK/Vandy head coach in SEC history to reach 20 SEC losses.

I have no argument for this. Well played.
Well Jimmy crack corn, and I don't care, and here's why...

First, it would not "make history", unless that term is used very, very loosely. Here's a hint- If you have to remove multiple facts/factors/statistics in order to make some kind of distinction, it's better described as a random fact, or useless trivia. If you want to sound smart, you could call it a "conditional actuality", but be careful with that one- Auburn still has to win.

For the sake of argument, let's pretend it would "make history" if Auburn does, in fact, beat Arkansas on Saturday. I would still be very much pro-Bielema, and here's a few facts (with no teams omitted!) that should be considered, since this is history in the making and whatnot-

First, Bielema took over Arkansas at the absolute lowest point in program history. Anyone paying attention during HarleyGate and the debacle that was Johnelle "Smile" Smith's 2012 attempt at coaching is well aware of how hard Arkansas fell. Coach B was handed a burning dumpster and told turn it into a winning football team. During that same time period, the SECW was/is as strong, if not stronger than it has ever been. Again, this is common knowledge for SEC fans.

Now, because this attempted dig at Bielema cannot exist without excluding two teams- Vandy and Kentucky, it's only fair to note that Bielema has NOT played either team in his tenure at AR. Not once.

So, who has Arkansas pulled from the East? Well, I'm glad you asked!

Year one- 2013-14 (0-2)
South Carolina, while that program was at its all time high, going on to win 11 games that season for the 3rd year in a row.
-AND-
Florida, ranked #18 at the time. Ya, I know, but they had a lot of talent and a great D that year.

Year two, 2014-15 (0-2)
Missouri, who is our permanent East opponent, was picked up in 2014, when they would win the SECE for the second consecutive year, finishing with 11 wins and a second consecutive top 15 finish.
-AND-
Georgia, with Richt at the healm. A team that started and finished the season in the top 10, winning 10 games.

Year three, 2014-15 (2-0)
Missouri- Admittedly, a shell of what they were.
-AND-
Tennessee, in their third year under Butch Jones, finished with 9 wins and ranked #22.

Since his arrival, CBB's teams have played the winner of the SECE or the runner up, or both (2014-15), for two of CBB's three full seasons at Arkansas. The lone exception was last year when Tennessee finished 3rd in the East. Of course, the streak would have stayed alive, had Bielema's Hogs not beaten a good Volunteers team at their house.

I'm not saying that I would want this conditional actuality (see how smart that sounds?), but when you take into account the shear magnitude of the rebuild, combined with the absolute toughest conference schedule in the SEC (especially in years one and two), it's not some mark of shame. Don't agree? Who has had a harder conference schedule (I mean ANY conference)? Who has had a tougher rebuild? I'll hang up and listen.

Even with all that going against him, he's improved his record every year (conference and overall), he's 2-0 in Bowl Games, the media loves him, he's beaten the best paid team in the SEC three years in a row, and he's kept a number in front of "Arkansas" since Week 2.

I'll take it.

Of course, this whole discussion will be meaningless after the Hogs win on Saturday, but someone needed to bring a bit of perspective to this thread.
