Very disappointed for not having a comment about this on the first page.

Is the food and drink included or do you have to pay extra for it?

Should have been left up to the individual.

When you have jobs mandating it and people speaking as experts or in certainties, which neither were true, while looking down on those who raised legitimate questions, I have issues.

I personally will never give a dollar back to LSU because of President Tate’s handling of this and his letters to the LSU community where he stated:

“As an epidemiologist, I know that vaccination is the way out of this pandemic, and I’m grateful to everyone who has already been vaccinated for helping us move in that direction.”

They then forced staff to take the shot or lose their jobs, and rescinded that requirement the week after the deadline to get shot number one of the two shot protocol at a time when the Johnson and Johnson shot (1 shot) was having real side effects and issues raised by everyone.

There are certain people in positions of power who abused those positions and lied to or misled the people they serve. Whether it was politicians, doctors, etc. there is a long list of people and institutions I will never trust or assist ever again.

This also led to an erosion of trust in general with the medical profession which might have even bigger consequences if we ever face a real issue in the future which could rightfully be solved, which I think might be an even bigger loss in all of this.

Price for the 4 tickets and parking pass in 401?

Also, what is your email?

Went back and read some more of the back and forth and agree.

Talking about different platforms altogether.

Yes, but I think in your quoted sentences, "options" was referring to options strategies to enact low-base stock hedges and the like.

Here is what I wrote:

“They are also rife with conflicts of interest, charge high fees and commissions, and also are limited in investment options.”

What I’m referring to as being limited in investment options is that they are not open architecture and can neither source nor give advice outside of the restricted choices the firm allows them to utilize, not “options” specifically as in trading options.

They don’t do options. Thats about the only truth in this statement in my experience.

Also not true.

Limited investment options that they can SELL you or give advice on. They are not open architecture and are not supposed to give advice on investments off platform. Think VC, PE, Real Estate, etc.

They can’t source the best investment option for you at all times.

The conflicts of interest also exist and you can find them in their disclosures as well. They are incentivized to sell you certain products. That is 100% the truth.

As does everyone. You’re not getting legal advice and tax advice from non legal or tax professionals anywhere for the layperson. Obviously some firms have attorneys and tax professionals on staff, but they give the advice, not the advisor.

False, not everyone has to have that disclosure. Only firms that can’t give tax or legal advice and who do not have tax or legal professionals on staff analyzing decisions for clients through that lens as well.

Isn’t investment advice inherently also tax advice when thinking about the purchase or sale of an investment and the effect on both your net worth and effective tax rate?

I think EJ and the similar firms can do all of the above.

They can’t, and they have disclosures that tell you to consult with your tax and legal advisor before making any investment decision.

They are also rife with conflicts of interest, charge high fees and commissions, and also are limited in investment options.

They are sales focused and not expertise focused.

Cell phones and social media likely killed most college bars. Being in college from 18-20 and having fun at a bar is a right of passage, but now everything is captured. Too much liability and evidence lying around to be a bar owner if something happens, or even if it doesn’t but someone is on a crusade against college kids having fun like LSU has been with fraternities.

85.2% increase here.

I just asked our broker to shop it, but I’m not hopeful.

Video Game Kyler should have looked in the mirror a little bit on this one.

All of it is a money grab and ridiculous. People like this ruin sports for kids and I’ll never have anything good to say about them.

Don’t forget he was hawking Game Coin too.

re: Life as a Lawyer Advice Needed

Unless it is a top tier law school, things are somewhat regionalized. That amount of money is insignificant when comparing the disadvantage you might place yourself in by choosing the wrong school for your end goals.

With that perspective I would ask the questions:

1. Where do you think you will want to live and practice?

2. Is there a special niche you might be interested in that you could exploit using the network, location, etc. offered by a law school?

3. Is there some special quality, instruction, advantage that one or more of those schools offer in comparison to the others?

As many posters have mentioned, the long term outlook of Louisiana is not bright. Tennessee and South Carolina have certain business, geographical, and other advantages over Louisiana now and looking into the future.

I would put LSU firmly behind the other two options unless she has some reason she wants to live in Louisiana. Even then, as her parent you should start to discuss and help her understand topics like this. As a 22 year old you have no clue about what it means to actually live somewhere and put down roots and how that can affect your life and your future family.
