I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his two worst seasons here have followed a national championship. I think deep post season runs like that necessarily take his attention away from recruiting, scouting, etc.
Oh frick… yeah I wouldn’t hire Heiar after reading that
Didn’t Heiar and Wade have a falling out back in the day?
Even the way he handled the whole Woodward situation (publicly ridiculing him) rubbed me the wrong way.

Hopefully I’m just paranoid and Landry will slither back into the shadows (at least, as it pertains to LSU athletics)
This is fun and all, but we are kind of making a deal with the devil by encouraging the increasingly incestuous relationship between the governor’s office and the athletic department.

Not saying I’m not happy, but I’m not going to laud Landry.
I disagree! Also, I appreciate your pbp during baseball season
I feel like some sort of an effort should be made to retain Thomas. Dude is a baller, it would be like Wade getting Waters to flip when he was first hired
His first SEC game vs Arkansas was cool. They were ranked 8, I think, and we won (they played like total arse, we kinda did too, but hey)

I agree with this. It was time, but he did all he could. It just wasn’t enough to bring LSU where it should be.

Great dude, hopefully he lands somewhere with lower expectations where he can win more and still be a part of the community.
I remember when we hired him in 2017 and he did his presser at the Student Union.
I’m sure he was aware this was in the works
Even minus the arena, that’s a very generous depiction of Baton Rouge lol
One of the LSU Instagram pages reported the deal is for “15M per season” but that can’t be right. He’d be making more than Bill Self. Maybe $15M over the course of a few years… or they were really talking about the $15M NIL budget Wade was allegedly promised.
It's possible he was soft fired (told to look for another job so he can "leave on his own"), a la Trent Johnson

Yep, Philly confirmed in a thread a while back that Austin Thomas was his primary source during the Kelly administration. I'm forever grateful for all the inside info he shared, but he probably won't be as much help in this situation.

If you're reading this, TYFYS Philly
All these “we should’ve done XYZ” threads are dumb we’re just not great this year.
None. If our administrators had any intention of firing literally the worst coach in the history of our basketball program, it would’ve happened. He’s staying another season to shave a few more million off his buyout.
It happened in the CWS in ‘23, we were just winning by a ton so it didn’t matter.
I had a feeling Guidry was gonna hang one
