crop duster or drone service for spraying water hyacinth
Posted by bullred84 on 9/17/25 at 12:55 pm
Looking for someone to spray about a 40 acre duck pond that has about 10 acres of water hyacinth in southeast Louisiana. Our guy that typically handles this for us is working out of state right now.
Anyone have a contact for someone who could handle this?

re: How to kill heartworms in a dog
Posted by bullred84 on 1/30/25 at 10:21 pm to redwingtiger
I have had two dogs test positive. First dog we did fast kill. Second dog was slow kill. I would definitely recommend slow kill. The dog that did slow kill was completely fine a few months later and hunted hard until he was 13.
Nowadays, the yearly heartworm shot is much more effective for prevention than the chews, etc. that everyone used to use.

Where to get gun dipped
Posted by bullred84 on 12/27/23 at 9:52 pm
Any suggestions around Baton Rouge or New Orleans? Need to get my gun Re-dipped after duck season
I never necessarily teach "place" but I have always used positive reinforcement for getting my dogs to go to the place where I want them to go.
For example, when they are young I tell them "get in your bed" and have them lay on their bed, give them praise, and make them stay there. I do this a couple times a day but nothing crazy. As they grow up, I can get them to go to their bed no matter where we are.
When we begin training on the dog stand, instead of heeling, I say "get on your stand," and bring them over to it before any type of retrieve. The retrieve after being on the dog stand is the positive reinforcement they get for getting on their stand.
Same goes for "get in the boat" when we're at the launch or "get in your hole" when teaching the dog to get in the dog box in a pit blind.

re: What will it take for fans to be happy after this weekend?

Not sure anything LSU can do that will make fans happy exactly. We just need to go in and take care of businesses.
Jordy Bloodsworth will put you on em, and you’ll have a great time fishing with him. Search blood supply outdoors
Captain Jordy with Blood Supply is awesome. He’ll put you on the fish and you will have a great time.

Didn’t get to listen to the entirety of Culotta’s show, but the new staff had him trying to play a lot of corner. pig admittedly knows his best shot at a future in football is at a nickel type position
Lobster diving charter

Looking for a charter for lobster diving opening weekend in the keys. This would be for the regular season, not the mini season. Anyone have any recommendations or done this before?
Retrievers in below freezing temps
Posted by bullred84 on 1/13/22 at 12:26 pm
Going west next week to duck hunt what will be mostly tank ponds. Temps could get as low as 23 degrees. My dogs are used to hunting Louisiana where it rarely freezes. They'll have a vest on and I planned on bringing a towel to help keep them dry. Any other suggestions on hunting them in these type of conditions?

I get the chance to hunt a few different spots in the state and I would give the overall rating a C. Youth weekend around Braithwaite was light out with our blind shooting a limit by 6:45 that Saturday. Opening weekend there was below average with about 18 ducks total taken from the same blind. Our spots in Venice were good for the first split until what was left of the feed from the hurricanes was wiped out. Those spots tapered off drastically the second split. I just think there wasn't any feed to keep anything around. Hunted some spots in northeast Louisiana. Some public and some private. Woodies were always pretty thick and on the sunny days the mallards would work well.

My girlfriend is going on a bachelorette trip and has been getting more and more nervous about it all week. I personally think she’ll be alright but if bringing or having it on her made it feel more comfortable then I would be all for it.
Self defense mechanisms in Mexico

Anyone have any experience flying with a self defense mechanism like mace or a taser into Mexico? Are these legal to bring there in any capacity or is this an absolute no go?

Not hearing good reports from around Venice.

Maybe it’s not the coach.
Then what is it?
The rankings listed with Aranda need to be taken with a grain of salt. Defense improved every game last year. Also, they were on the field a hell of a lot more than normal due to the efficiency of the offense.
If you’re willing to go down to Venice, captain Jordy Bloodsworth with Blood Supply Outdoors has some openings.

Took a youngster out last week for youth weekend around the Caernarvon area and he shot his limit of 5 teal and one gray by 7. Not a ton of birds around, but the ones that were wanted to work. We did see more big ducks than we are typically used to down there. Definitely a major improvement from the past couple of years.
