It's a pretty amazing game and an awesome technical achievement. I admit I was kind of ready to be done with it toward the end just because of the amount of time I spent on it, but it's excellent.

Yeah, good band. Saw them live a month or so ago. They were good, but it was one of those shows where it was so damn loud that it was only indistinguishable white noise during the loud songs, which kinda detracted from the overall enjoyment. Made a pretty solid mix that I think serves as a good overview:

Mothers of the Sun
The Hair Song
Old Fangs
Defector
Angels
Line Them All Up
Tyrants
Stay Free
Wucan
Buried by the Blues
Rollercoaster
The Space of Your Mind
Crucify Me
Space to Bakersfield

Wilco is one of my favorite bands to see live, and I find them merely okay on record, with some exceptions.
Good song and makes me long for the days when he wrote stuff like that and "Carry Me Ohio" instead of the rambling, obnoxious stuff he's been doing lately.
MMJ is great, especially live. I like them a lot, but I feel like their studio albums trailed off a lot after Z. That's the only thing that, in my opinion, detracts from their overall greatness. Still a great band though.

Katatonia - The Fall of Hearts

Definitely my choice for album of the year so far, and I was not expecting it at all. I like the band, but I wasn't expecting album of the year material from them. A lot of people may not give it a real chance because of its association with metal. But I can't think of an album this year that tops it honestly. It's got creative and unpredictable song structures, excellent musicianship, great haunting melodies, stellar production/mixing, and every single song feels incredibly well thought out (no filler at all). I actually can't get over how good the album is.

Been a favorite of mine for many years now. Great band. New album is top notch, sometimes jaw-droppingly good. Not always in the mood for them, but they have consistently put out very good to great albums. The last 3 have been especially great.
Dammit I waited too long to buy Atlanta Built to Spill tickets and they sold out. And then Stubhub was asking way too much.

Anyway, I like a lot of deep cuts that make it exciting as a fan, but it's good to bring out the big hits here and there to keep the energy up. It's always awkward when you feel like a crowd is getting restless or bored.

How do you find that song to be depressing?

Not saying it's the most depressing song ever, but, well, how is it not depressing?

Lyrics:
I took a little journey to the unknown,
And I come back changed. I can feel it in my bones.
I fricked with forces that our eyes can't see.
Now the darkness got a hold on me.
Oh, the darkness got a hold on me.

How long, baby, have I been away?
Oh, it feels like ages though you say it's only days.
There ain't language for the things I've seen.
And the truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
The truth is stranger than all my dreams.
Oh, the darkness got a hold on me.

I have seen what the darkness does.
Say goodbye to who I was.
I ain't never been away so long.
Don't look back them days are gone.
Follow me into the endless night.
I can bring your fears to life.
Show me yours and I'll show you mine.
Meet me in the woods tonight.

The truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
Now the darkness got a hold on me.

I have seen what the darkness does.
Say goodbye to who I was.
I ain't never been away so long.
Don't look back them days are gone.
Follow me into the endless night.
I can bring your fears to life.
Show me yours and I'll show you mine.
Meet me in the woods tonight.

...Pretty dark, I'd say.

Just saw this show in Nashville at the Ryman on Saturday. I thought it was fantastic. A really nice setlist of hits, deep cuts/fan favorites, a couple covers, a couple new songs, and even a song from Billy Corgan's solo album and a song from Zwan.

If you're a fan, you should have a great time.
Opeth's Blackwater Park really opened my mind and left me in awe. I didn't know their music, but I was in the mood for something new, so I got that album not too long after it came out after reading something about it. It was like nothing I had heard and I quickly got obsessed with the band. The atmosphere that album has when listened to in the right moment and setting is pretty incredible. Same goes for the albums they did prior to that one.

The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi are albums that came close to actually "changing my life." I was a freshman in college and was going through a rough time. I got those albums on a whim and the lyrics and overall message really spoke to me. Then I became obsessed with the Flaming Lips. It's too bad that I've despised most of their music from the last few years though.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is the album most responsible for my music taste though. Got it in 5th grade. The album has it all - hard rock, metal, glam rock, symphonic rock, electronic, folk, pop, prog...
Most of it feels more restrained than their other stuff, but I really like it. Every song has something to offer.

Originally, Pacino's character in Heat was supposed to be a huge coke head. They must have decided to edit that out of the movie. I think that explains some of his bizarre outbursts at random times throughout the movie.

Stan Heath - probably the best SEC basketball coach in the last thirty years. :nana:
