Like he said, he's not some fantastic recruiter, he's actually one of the worst on the staff. But he does have ties with LA high schools and can get our closers in the door.
The LA connection worked out ok for a couple players this year, admittedly not players LSU was after.

Please provide a reference that shows Texas not only met, but exceeded A&M's offer.
The only report I saw today showed that Texas came close to A&M's offer.

Yea I wasn't going to be disappointed if he ended up leaving. He's likely one of the worst recruiters on our staff, and only an average DL coach, but he does provide ties to LA which we need.
There's also the perception/momentum hit of him leaving for A&M and coaching stability. Regardless, we weren't interested enough to even match A&M's offer, and he chose to stay anyways.
Our defense will always be Strong's defense, and Strong will be the recruiting closer, we just need Brick to get us in the door.
