re: Saban isn't showing the respect that Brandon Harris deserves"He's a good player"

I'm sure Saban thinks his defense can get pressure. Very little of which Brandon has seen this year. We don't know how Brandon will react to the pressure if it comes. I think he can handle it well but we don't know.

All that stands between Leonard and a Heisman is us winning 3 of the last 4 games and a strong performance at Alabama by Leonard. He gains about 150 at Alabama and I think the trophy is his.

I'd rather slightly underthrown balls than always overthrown.
At least the receiver has a chance to make a play.

I'm not sure he is against LSU although there is evidence of it. He is, however, down on Miles. It is most apparent in the difference in the way he handles calls from Georgia concerning Richt being on the hotseat and his encouragement of hotseat talk for Miles. Whenever someone calls in to say Georgia should fire Richt he is very logical and reasonable. He'll say things like yes Richt needs to win more of the big ones but who will you find better. On the other hand, he had Moscona on and one of his questions to Moscona was "What would the worst that could happen if LSU loses to both Mississippi State and Auburn to start the season?"
Then when Moscona said it could result in a losing season Finescum asks, "What would that do to the future of Les Miles?". The point is he constantly encourages the discussion of replacing Miles. He'll be on the bandwagon now. He looks horrible if he doesn't

I don't watch a lot of finebaum but what does that guy have in for les miles. Last year a lot of Georgia fans were after Mark Richt and Finebaum would take the reasonable approach and say things like well fine and dandy but who are you going to replace him with and if he has a losing season then yes it is time. For LSU and Les, he tries to stimulate talk of removing Miles. Yesterday, when news broke of the injury to Mills, he asks Moscona and what if things go extremely wrong what is Miles' future. I mean what would you say if asked that question. And this is just one example. Anyone know why Finebaum is so down on Miles.
re: Irrational Exuberance or Rational Expectation?

I tend to agree that the offense will be better. The serious concern is the defense and particularly the defensive ends. Quarterbacks will be better. The irrational exuberance says Brandon Harris will be all conference, rational expectations says better than 50% of his passes complete and some key plays with his legs. Irrational exuberance says the defensive ends will be as good as last years pair at stopping the run and better at sacking the quarterback. Rational expectation says we'll have problems setting the edge and maybe as good at getting to the quarterback.
re: Grave mistake at the end of last year's Bama game?

A couple of face masks that weren't called on Bama, one where Jennings came off the field with it pulled off. A downing of a punt on the one where the wrong official called it a touch back. The most bogus unsportsmanlike penalty I've ever seen where clearly several Tide players could have been called but after several tries they finally got an LSU player to push them back and immediately called. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but that game was officiated so poorly and at the most critical times in Bama's favor. Pitiful display.
re: How good would our offense be with a gritty 3* QB?

Marcus Randall was Anthony Jennings 1.0

I find the comparison eerily similar. Great success early followed by mediocrity afterward. While Miles was able to capitalize a bit more on his early advantage it remains to be seen if he can pull another championship season out of his hat. He has been a more determined recruiter certainly. Good men, good coaches let's see if Miles can find another magical season.

The cuts to higher education during Jindal's time in office have been brutal. It's to the point where if his proposed budget were to pass we no longer have public universities we have privately funded ones. When Jindal took office the state funded 70% of the cost of going to college at our state universities. In just 7 years it's changed to 30%. This is before current proposals.

There was so much shoving on that play that it gave the impression of premeditation. Not sure Saban would coach that way but there was a bunch of shoving across the field.
re: Can't decide who is a bigger Bama Homer

Paawwwwl is easily the biggest bama homer on ESPN. You can see him squirm in his seat every time someone says a negative word about the Gumps.
re: Jennings in for Harris vs Auburn '14 = Jefferson in for Lee vs Bama Nov of '11

You fail to realize the performance of Jarret Lee was not due to newness and nerves. Alabama hit him in the mouth and he crashed and burned. Throwing 2 picks in as many tries following the hammering. This was due to fear throwing as soon as he finished dropping back without even looking at the target. It was this behavior than Miles recognized and lost respect for. Thus never playing him again in any meaningful way.
What I don't understand is knowing how he felt about Jarret why didn't he get Mett ready for the bowl game.

re: I had a dream last night...

Dreams are just desires expressed while sleeping. It will be tough to be one of the best offenses in the nation unless Mettenberger improves dramatically. And dramatic improvement is seldom seen in the quaterback position. I'm afraid you are what you are there. However, I don't think we need to be one of the best to win the bcs. He just needs to be consistently good. Consistently is the key term. And we'll have a good chance to reach all of our goals.

I was there. It was my first live LSU Game. My father bought tickets for us for my 11th birthday. We rode a greyhound that dropped us off right in front of the stadium. We sat way up high but it was 50 yard line. What a comeback, so I was sold.

Agree whole heartedly. Lost in the Kentucky beat down is Kentucky with less a passing threat than us was consistently gashing the Gators D on the ground. On several occasions in the first half at least the moved the ball between the 20's with ease then bogged down in the red zone. Could be an excellent day for Michael Ford

Kentucky was gashing Florida's D running the ball. And without their first string QB they had little passing threat. I like our chances.

If we're beating the snot out of S.Carolina in the 4th quarter of an undefeated season, we will hear them and I'll join.
re: LSU's PETA Probelm
Posted by oldmantig on 9/5/12 at 2:48 pm
PETA has run themselves out of rational people's consideration with their extreme views. However there is a much more dangerous group with similar goals but hiding behind a more rational approach and with a generally accepted name. Humane Society of the United States, HSUS, makes you think they are all about dog and cat shelters when in fact it is the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals that is the group most responsible for Animal Sheltering and investigation of true cruelty. Just thought I'd throw that out there. If you want to give to a responsible group give to SPCA not HSUS

While this isn't the first time i've seen this thread, I'd just like to say we need to do more of this in Miles' case. Celebrate the man for what he is instead of constantly brooding over what he isn't. We've got a damn strong coach with character and he's very entertaining to boot. He may not be the master technition that the guy from gumpland is supposed to be but thank god he is who he is.
