Awesome info, really appreciate it.

The plots that are there now are tiny, will make them larger but not sure how large, an acre would be pushing it just based on the geography.

150 acres total ish

All things food plots - spring and fall

We bought new property last year, didn’t have time for a bunch of prep prior to season but want to get going with a solid plan this spring.

We are wanting to plant spring plots and have a few questions:
- ideally these would be the same place as fall plots correct?
- what are good options to plant? A mixture of things I would assume? Soybeans?
- when is best time to plant? Assume it’s based on soil temp?
- when it comes time to plant for fall, just cut them and disc them?

We will be sending off a few soil samples also to ensure we have the soil setup properly.

What am I missing?

This is in Pearl River county MS

It’s legit, my buddy is up there and got him on cam a couple nights ago. Word is that it was someone’s pet that escaped… just asked for his pic, will post shortly

ETA: nevermind, he has same pic and isn’t sure it’s legit

One of the food plots is right on the edge of some good timber, based on what yall are saying that may be the best bet. There is also a good creek bed that I’ve seen a good buck travel before, leads to a different food plot.

Pre rut/rut bow hunt locations?

Have new property we are hunting this year, about 150 acres. Have 3 food plots , most of the property was cut about 5 years ago so tons of about 4 foot tall brush/briars and a few smaller creek areas with mature trees.

Rut should start up around the first of the year, trying to get a strategy together. Likely will be using saddle with my bow 99% of the time where I can find trees big enough.

What should I be looking for when I’m setting up for the rut? This is around Poplarville, Ms

Doesn’t look like you can camp there

Have a couple buddies and myself, want to go somewhere not too crazy far for a trip to deer hunt and primitive camp. Not someplace with a draw, just somewhere we can get a license and go in and spend three days in there and try and find a deer or two.

Any ideas?
So they switch them for each game? I really like the helmet one but haven’t been able to make a game yet. Will be at Ole Miss, Bama and Oklahoma, what options will I have?

Appreciate the info fellas, letting these guys walk sounds like a good plan. Will try and get in touch with neighbors. One side is a Weyerhaeuser lease, which I am trying to buy, and the west side borders a high fence. If we can get what we want around there this will wind up being about 400 acres, but may wind up being further down the road.

Anyone have a link to the studies showing that a spike won’t be a spike forever? Need to send that to some folks

I had a spike that looked like that and ended up having a great rack.....not a great spread but very tall and thick

Dumb question, but how do you keep track of them from year to year? Like how did you know that it wasthe same deer?

Well I appreciate it but I’m looking for advice, what would yall do?

Again this is a brand new property and we will have it forever probably, also trying to buy a couple hundred acres that are attached.

Goal is to have a healthy herd, and grow some larger bucks, kill a few a year

Deer Age? Choot em?

These are south Mississippi deer, we have 150 acres, these are two spots pretty far apart. First year we have owned this and trying to put together a plan. Not sure which to shoot or let walk, looking for some management advice.

Also, any tips on identifying them?

First up, this guy, how old ya think? Thin little horns, no mass.

Next up, this tall skinny spike, just shoot him to get him outta there?

Now these guys, hard for me to tell who’s who, but what ya got?

Running a Thunder Chicken or other suppressor?

I want a HB but not sure I can’t justify the price if I can build one for around $1500

Looks sharp!

I just purchased my .30 cal can yesterday, hopefully don’t have to wait 5 months but who knows…

That said I need to either build or buy a 300 blackout pistol. Looking for some guidance as I’m not super familiar with this setup. Want it to shoot subsonic rounds suppressed. Thinking of just buying one built but if anyone has some experience piecing one together I’d love to hear it. Not going super high end, but don’t want bottom of the barrel either.
Think Isner will keep his career going today and beat Mmoh?
I got to DJ at that country bar one night, free Tiger beer too, good night
