I think so, but not 100% certain. I believe Season 1 took a little from several books, not just the one titled “Heated Rivalry.” The Kip/Scott episode for example was taken from one of the other books.

The first book is Game Changers or Gamechanger? As I understand it that's the Scott/Kipp story. The second book is Heated Rivalry and focuses on Shane/Ilya. I'm assuming though they intertwine at least some since they live in the same timeline. I don't know about the subsequent books, but I know one of the later books is called the Long Game which progresses the Shane/Ilya relationship and that's what I'm assuming Season 2 will be.

I guess that's why it's STILL the #1 show on HBO Max.

It's astonishing really. The 2 leads are ridiculous. I almost fell out of my chair when I found out the guy who plays Ilya Rozanov is a dude from West Texas and not actually Russian.

It’s not preachy or woke in how it deals with the subject matter.

Exactly this.

I just finished this show and I have to say... most on here will dislike it immediately just for its content. But this is honestly one of the most well-acted, well-directed, well-written, beautifully shot shows I have ever seen. Even minor details like the use of soundtrack are incredible.

Yes it is... gay... Especially the early episodes... But its never preachy. The pacing is incredible from start to finish. The first four episodes are great on their own... but the last two... episodes 5 and 6, are two of the best episodes of television I've ever watched. Currently both sitting at 9.9 on IMDB with the Six Feet Under Finale, and just under Breaking Bad: Ozymandias.

No spoilers here: But there's a 4 minute monologue in Episode 5... set to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata... delivered entirely in Russian... that is one of the finest pieces of acting I can remember.

I really do hope some on this board give this show a chance. It is a masterpiece.

Claire Danes got on my nerves.

I thought that at first too... I was like she's gonna be exhausting... But then we met Dana Brody...

And after 1-2 scenes of her, nothing Carrie did bothered me again.

One of the few moments in life I get to type lol without it being a lie.

Has Pineville won a game this year ?

Surprisingly yes. Haven't followed them much this year outside of seeing Tioga and ASH destroy them.
