re: Anybody else hate binge watching?

Bingewatching is about efficiency. If you add up all the "Previously on...." you get to skip, that's a not-insignificant amount of life you gain back.
Well shite why don't we just modify the current CFP to 14 teams... where the P4 conference champs + next 2 highest ranked get the top 6 seeds / top 2 getting first round byes. The remaining 8 spots are decided via 16 8-team, 3-round Regionals, with the 16 Regional Champs moving on to a 1-round Super Regional.

That way, all 134 D1 Football teams get a post season participation trophy AND have a shot at winning it all.

It's a musical. I don't think this movie is going to do very well. Presales for opening weekend are currently weak. Making it a musical was a bold choice

I think it will do a lot better than the Venice reviews would indicate. The Gaga factor alone will keep it from being anywhere close to a flop. Then the nostalgia of wanting to revisit the Phoenix performance. And I think it will get a boost from people who kinda wanna witness a potential train wreck.

Regardless, from the second it was announced to randomly be a "musical" the review aggregates were pretty much guaranteed to land anywhere from 4-6, where people are either going to love it or loathe it. And most made their decision about it a long time ago.

re: My Lady Jane canceled by Amazon

Eh the only reason this is getting a thread here or even talked about on any website is because of that. It's like a Bat-signal for lazy show.

It's getting a thread here because we celebrate the cancellation of shows or under-performance of films that dare to acknowledge that black and/or gay people exist.

Something that noone seemed to care about until around 8 years ago. Prior to that, you just found other things to watch if you weren't interested. But then 2016 hits, when someone decided the best way to win was to get people pissed off... and the best way to get people pissed off is to create an enemy for them to be pissed off at... And since the target market is ~10-15 IQ points lower than average, we need low-IQ reasons for them to buy into being pissed off...i.e. race, sexuality, etc... easy differences to exploit.

The irony is that all these newly pissed off people love to call everyone else "sheep" when they themselves were literally puppeteered into hatred as part of a successful marketing plan

It's delicious when you think about it. When in all actuality, this was just Amazon's attempt to have a Bridgerton of their own and it was a poorly ran, boring show that didn't have a prayer of capturing the Bridgerton love Amazon was looking for.

But no that can't be the reason... we celebrate because we know the real reason it didn't succeed... them pesky black and gay folk.
To carry over the theme from the singer/songwriter thread - Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars just released Die With A Smile. From a pop music perspective, these 2 are among the best of their generation when it comes to having the full package so to speak.

I'm usually wary on mainstream pop collabs because it feels gimmicky and doesn't work more often than it does. But this is a great tune and their voices blend so well together.

I'm assuming by the name that is is probably for the Joker 2 soundtrack?

In your opinion, if there is a certain artist who is a great performer but does not write any of the material they perform, do you think less of them?

I think to say you don't respect a singer who doesn't write is kind of insane. It's just a different kind of respect.

Do I respect Celine Dion as a songwriter? Well, no. Because she's not one. She's always been straightforward in saying she can't write a song for shite. Do I respect her as a vocalist? Absolutely. Is her use of and mastery of her voice to interpret what other people write a form of art? Sure, why not.

In general I respect someone like her a lot more than say a Beyonce who is a "songwriter" by virtue of "if I'm using your song, you'll be giving me a writing credit for the privilege of me singing it."
Wait... how does a top 100 of 1984 not include a masterpiece of a song like Don Henley's The Boys of Summer.
On the replay the TeeTee to Gabby pass looked smooth as frick, but watching it live stressed me out. TeeTee flew that 2nd leg

The biggest problem with lady gaga performing wasn't that she isn't French, it's that it was f'ing dreadful.

I can't stress how bad it was.

I thought it was great for what it was, which is camp French cabaret. And frankly the only redeeming quality of these Opening Ceremonies.
Just some random OC trivia:

Beijing 2008: Sarah Brightman performs the Olympic Theme Song.
Tokyo 2020: John Legend, Keith Urban, Angelique Kidjo and Alejandro Sanz perform Imagine.
Athens 2004: Bjork performs an original song Oceania.

And finally, the delicious irony that will really upset all the pearl-clutchers from the live thread complaining that Lady Gaga isn't French...

Atlanta 1996: Celine Dion performs The Power of the Dream.

Fact: Biles is the best.
Opinion: Her melting down in Tokyo was soft
Opinion: If she decides to play for herself rather than UsA then she should not be considered amongst greatest because that weak shite

Fact: With 4 Olympic Golds and 23 World Championship Golds, Simone Biles owes us nothing.
Assumption I'm 99.99% certain is fact: nobody on here criticizing her is a gymnast.
Fact: Regardless of the cause (it is mental), twisties are very real. And while every elite gymnast has gone through bouts of twisties, to do so on the biggest stage of all has to be a nightmare. You will balk mid-air which is extremely dangerous because how you land at that point is basically on God.

Even at the most basic level of gymnastics twistie-like things happen all the time. I used to coach tumbling for cheerleaders, and I cannot tell you how many times cheerleaders would work months just to get a backhandspring... then get it and have it. Then after weeks or months, sometimes even years, of consistently performing it, they "lose it". Meaning they literally lose the skill.

Calling it a meltdown is simply ignorance, but credit to ya for labeling it an opinion.

Though calling it soft is especially comical because that was probably the hardest decision she's ever had to make.

It's actually sad that even 3 years later, any American with a spittoon and a tooth deficiency is still criticizing her for it.

That Lady Gaga bit was painful.

Honestly the Gaga number has been the only interesting thing so far in this. Maybe its nostalgia for me but I don't get the whole float the river thing as opposed to doing this in a proper stadium.

That looks awful, the first was awful.

I also have never cut myself though, so not the target demographic

The target demographic is people who have the ability to think at depths greater than a nanometer. Assuming it's only for emo folks probably excludes you from that to begin with.

How do you average a double double? You get it. Or you don’t.

So to answer your question, averaging a double double should mean you get it more times than you don't.

But mathematically, just means you're averaging 10+ whatever 2 stats

Uh oh, case closed. We found 1 example to extrapolate an overall assessment of Angel Reese's athleticism. Reminds me of the "Noone I know has died from it so they're lying" brain trust.
