re: Do coaches use AI nowadays?

Rather than using language models like ChatGPT, I wonder if some of the professional teams are using more traditional machine learning, especially with all the data that is collected nowadays. Seems like you could make a model to predict the best play calling decision for every scenario based on the entire history of collected data. Seems like that would be a good tools to help with OC's with play calling.
I think people are just calling a spade a spade. It’s no secret this organization is run poorly and most people in the fan base are just aware of that. Yeah sure you can just turn your brain off and have blind optimism if that’s what you want to do I guess

He does need to add strength, but he’s got a decent frame and he’s super young, plus he already plays bigger than his size. While the shooting and athleticism aren’t the same, he has that Donovan Mitchell skill set where he’s got a a super tight handle that he uses to navigate through bodies in the paint plus using his body weight really well, where you feel like he can always get to the rim.

I like all those same prospects, but I am more bullish on Fears. He performed at such a high level as a freshman. He’s not really undersized, he measured 6’2 1/2” barefoot, which is fine for a PG, but physically he plays bigger than his 180 lb - he’s very strong. His ability to attack the rim will translate on day 1. Watching Oklahoma, I always felt like he was making big play after big play, at 18 years old, I think he reclassified so he’s young. He’s a guy I would bet on, the biggest swing with him will be his shooting, which is a totally valid concern.
Good on anybody who is looking for positives here, but I just can't find reasons to try. I read into this whole process as the ownership being lazy and not really caring about winning basketball games. Just keeping the lights on for the sports team that Gayle sees as a social club, social status, and financial asset. Not a basketball team whose priority is winning - she just wants to hold on to it and coast on by. Even better for her if she gets to hire her buddies along the way who won't provide any pressure for change or bold actions, and bonus if their cheap.
Can someone elaborate why the whole board thinks Dumars would be so bad?

re: Pels Game 4

You know what’s crazy about Zion, he literally only gets the ball on offense while standing still with zero advantage and has to go create something with a packed paint and everyone standing. Idk if that’s scheme or him being lazy but it’s insane our coaching staff doesn’t do anything about it. Like get him moving off ball, curling around screens, cutting, setting screens, and get him the ball in motion with advantages to the rim
Here’s my theory on Z. I think Zion really does and always has wanted to be great. As far as this vengeful comment and his similar comments in previous offseasons that Pels fans have grown tired of, I think he really means them in the moment, and I think he really has put in the work to back these comments up *in spurts*. His career has been a rollercoaster with highs and lows as far his weight, attentiveness on the court, and his defense. I think there is something behind the scenes causing these lows that we are not aware about that is holding him back. Maybe it’s a food addiction or a porn/sex addiction (thinking about the Moriah Mills episode) or something else. I truly believe he means what he says and does the work but there’s something else going on that causes these lapses we see that lead to weight gain, injury, seeming to not care, etc.. That’s my theory at least
Most of the time it looks like confused anger, not necessarily intensity.

This might be my favorite Nola bball jersey ever….
Hawk and Missi. Want to see what progress Hawk has made with getting stronger and holding his own on defense. Also will be interesting to see what kind of production he will put up on offense when he’s the guy. Missi is the obvious one, considering he might be our starting center next year lol, or at least a highly contributing player.

Seriously? Don’t have an exact number, but quite a few. He has done a good job this year, but we have a very very good roster. There are several coaches who could have this team in the 2-4 seed.

True, there is zero indication that the players don’t want to play for Willie at this point, quite the opposite if anything. I am jumping the gun.

It’s more that I am cautious to give Willie praise for the positive culture he’s created and his motivational abilities (you gotta fight, all that). If the personality stuff is all you have as coach, it eventually wears out. Players know when a coach is doing the right things with the X’s and O’s and when you start losing playoff series and poor game-planning and in-game coaching is to blame, all the ra ra stuff goes out the window, especially to the players.

I am very critical of his ability to ever be a good coach beyond personnel stuff, but to be fair he’s a young coach and it’s hard to complain about that when you are 15 games above .500. I do feel confident in his ability to get the guys going through the adversity of the BI injury, which was the point of this thread lol.

You know what makes a player want to play for a coach? When they see competency. No matter how positive and motivational Willie is, if the players believe that he doesn’t know what he is doing, they won’t respond. You have to be both a good coach and motivator.

Not sure why anyone thinks the word “Zion” and “develop” go together. He’s physically regressed since he’s been in the NBA and hasn’t developed a single basketball skill.
You could say he weighed anything between 275 and 305 and I would believe it
I'm kind of excited. I think the play-in is cool and would enjoy it a lot if the Pels made it to the bracket play. Just wish Jose was out there because I know he would gaf.
