Doesnt hurt when you get performances like that out of freshmen

And if they return and come back throwing like they have in the tourny + improving in the offseason, this will be a very good thing OU.

we hit a good number of flyballs to right that would have been home runs at Foley. That would have significantly changed the momentum of the game

Exactly.
When you swing for HRs in a park larger than you're use to and they don't make it out, you end up with fly outs. (Obviously)
Georgia isn't the first longball team in Omaha to get knocked off and certainly won't be the last.

Agreed. This past year's portal additions just didn't work out. Jay has acknowledged this in a post game interview (i forget which).
All other previous years we pulled some very good talent and said talent directly contributed to the 23 and 25 nattys.

Every fight wildly entertaining

I agree aside from from the Derrick Lewis V Hokit.
Just like his last bout, Derrick was completely unprepared and pretty much gassed halfway thru the first round. I know its the heavy weight division but still very underwhelming considering the stage.

All other bouts were a lot better than I expected. Especially the main.

Thanks for that explanation. It makes a lot more sense to me now.

Twoface is spot on but one thing to add, most of the time the "personal circumstance" that prevents a fighter (in this case the champ) from fighting is an injury. Either from previous fight, injured during training, recovering from injury/surgery...etc. Even still, I agree interim champ title fights in the UFC are a bit over used but I get it, UFC makes money on title fights even if its for an interim belt.

Either way, as a fan of the UFC, I don't know if they will ever top this event.
I've been considering looking into getting baseball season tickets as my little boys seems to love the sport and loves going to Alex Box.......Well, this thread pretty much assured I won't be wasting my time. Seat Geek it is
No.
Its no longer recruiting. Its more of a bid war over kids who will sign with the highest bidder and aren't worried about jersey/brand. Then come next offseason, declare for the portal just to solicit more bids to see if they can't get more money.

When it comes to recruiting HS talent, I personally do not see the point in it at least for P4 schools. Surely they still will but it hasn't and will not be as prevalent as it use it. Why go recruit HS talent, spend the time and resources to develop them only to have them sit the bench, then they are liable to hit the portal the following year in search of more money. Better to just hit the portal and grab guys who already have playtime, experience, development, stats at the college level and let the HS talent go play at a FCS, G5, D2, etc. school and grab them after they develop.

Ever since NIL/Rev share, there needs to be regulation on transferring but I am unsure how you go about that. IE: transfer limits or sitting out a period of time if you transfer.

JJ trying to lose on purpose

No, he's playing for the ncaa tournament. The only way to make it, is to win the Sec tournament pretty much.

Why are we purposely sacrificing this gam

Because the only way you make it to Omaha is winning the sec tournament. Winning this series does nothing. So throw meh pitchers. Will we go deep into the sec tournament? Highly doubtful. But cjj is playing the long game even still

Yeskie has to go. Let's see we threw two curves, and their batter missed. Let's go Little League and throw the same pitch for a strike.

Its fricking raining. Tell me you don't watch baseball without telling me.

It's a simple case of missing on a bunch of talent across the board, which is why I wish we had more information on who is scouting these players other than Jay. I'm sure he's not doing it on his own, but the number of missed evals that are currently on the roster is alarming.

Also have to realize, CJJ and LSU were in the regionals, super regionals, MCWS, and the championship all while the portal was open.
Surely this could have affected the recruiting.

You couldn’t possibly be more wrong. Rizy couldn’t put two in a row in the zone if the batter went back to the fricking dugout

Sheerin pounded the zone most of the inning, but he couldn’t just power it by two of their hitters. They fouled off until they got what they wanted and teed off on a couple of pitches.

Correct. Also Rizzy is very inconsistent. Sheerin's problem is he's too consistent and pounds the zone. His pitches while move, don't move much so hard to fool good batters. Keep in mind, he also pitches against the top of their lineup.

Why we attempting to steal on a 3-0 pitch count. The probability of a walk is there!
Logitech G502 Hero. Over 57K reviews on amazon.

It really depends on what grip style you use though. For me I use a palm grip not a claw style grip. So I've always like a larger mouse.
I had the G500 years ago but when I had to replace it, they no longer made it so I went to the 502 which was a refresh of the 500. I love it. I actually just got my replacement 502 in a couple weeks ago because after 8 years of use my previous 502 the pads under it wore out since i dont use a mouse pad.

It is considered a gaming mouse but i do not game. I also like that i can unlock the scroll wheel to free spin. Its helpful in PDFs with alot of pages and in excel.

It should be. But it isn't.
Perfect hit!!!!

To be fair, I’m putting forth that catching more of a problem than pitching, not instead of pitching.

I totally agree there, overall yes. I thought you were implying catching was to blame specifically for the L in this game.
Our catching is consistently bad at least for the standard of our program. Where as pitching overall (meaning all outings/pitchers included) is not terrible at all. Out pitching is actually pretty good. We just had a terrible outing by two guys last night that I think lost us the game.

catching is our problem more than pitching

We gave them 12 free runners by way of walk or HBP. Of those 12, 7 of them scored.

Furthermore, 10 of the 12 free runners drew their walk from Evans and Williams and all 7 that scored were walked by either one of them.
2 walks also pushed in a score and 1 of those scores was another walked batter. Both also by Evans/Williams.

The only other two walks were by Noot but neither scored.

I blame pitching in this game, specifically Evans and Williams. Not catching. Yes, we have an issue there.... but this game specifically was lost due to pitching.
If you were to simply remove the two walks that pushed in the guy on third, we would've won. Yes hindsight, but again, my point stands.

And I'm not downing Evans and Williams. Like batters get hot or cold; pitchers have good and bad outings. The next game they throw, they may be lights out.
They just weren't on their game tonight.
quote:

You’re not winning with 11 bb. It doesn’t matter how you tinker with the lineup.

100% correct. I think CJJ gives Evans another go at Friday opener but possibly with a short leash.

quote:

The idea LSU even had a chance with that pitching line is miraculous.

I think we threw who we threw so as to not jeopardize tonight's game and Sunday's. You take away the walks, we win. So keep the regular rotation for saturday and sunday instead of burning one or two in this game.
