Until Spurrier showed up y'all didn't win jack shite.

To be fair, the Gators won the 1984 SEC championship, but it got revoked amid a scandal involving Charlie Pell's numerous NCAA violations. They finished the season ranked #3 in the country and seven selection committees voted them as the 1984 national champions. Their only loss of the season came from the reigning national champions, Miami.

The Gators should have then won the 1985 SEC championship, but were ineligible due to NCAA regulations that carried over into Galen Hall's tenure. They were not allowed to participate in post-season play.

I agree that these shouldn't count since Pell was a cheater, but the Gators were on peoples' radars even before Spurrier got there.
Fournette is a beast, but trading even a decent coach for a player is pants-on-head retarded.
In that case, Spurrier. He was consistently good, but only won a single national championship. Meyer won two in half the time, but was a flash in the pan. Spurrier left the program with all the tools to succeed, but Meyer left it a burning wreck. I have no doubt that Spurrier would have won more national championships if he had stayed with us for the BCS era. He might not have had the rapid success of Meyer, but he'd have gotten them, and we'd never sink to the same lows as we did.
We're not screwed. I'd call SCar and Vandy pretty safe wins given how they are right now. If we win one of either LSU or Georgia, we win the East. If we lose both and Georgia drops one more SEC game, we win the East. But Georgia currently looks winnable. Their loss of Chubb is much worse than our loss of Grier.
