Momentum is real and he rarely gets to capitalize off of it with how our offense plays
re: Since we are looking at American Conference coaches - Eric Morris

I’d take golesh over morris slightly but both over sumrall
Golesh has schemed an offense in the SEC already and I think there is something to that. Morris has high level coordinator experience at TT, and sumrall was a co-dc for 1 year at Kentucky

Him and Moscona might be showing who their sources are with how they are reacting

This is foolishness, if we want Dillingham he is ours. He’s not staying at Arizona st bc it’s his Alma mater when a top 3 job in the country comes calling.
He’a coordinated in the SEC and at other big schools, he knows what lsu is. I think outside of lane, he’s got to be one of the top candidates

re: Why do people get their feelings so hurt regarding buyouts?

People are getting worked up bc it’s a wealth they cannot fathom. The donors whose wealth is making wealth annually probably aren’t happy about it but seem ready to write the checks
re: My #1 criteria for Coach - Hands on with the O or D

I think you have a higher chance of hitting on a coaching hire if they have high level (sec/big 10) coordinator experience. Smart, Kirby, lanning, elko, Kiffin, Day, Freeman, Huepel

I think the question for us hiring a younger coach is how do you make sure you arent hiring the next sunbelt Billy?
Looking at the top 25 rankings, with some exceptions like deboer and cignetti (who proved themselves at multiple jobs and are older), most of those coaches have major (big10/SEC) coordinating experience. Maybe I need to be iffy on Sumrall or key and more interested in a guy like Golesh (not sure if he actually called the plays for huepel), Dillingham, or even Schumann but I know they probably won’t go with a first time coach.

In 2022 I was all for the big game hunting splash hire, I told myself “we are LSU” so I thought we had Lincoln Riley in the bag. The BK hiring news came out of nowhere but I thought because of his consistency he could lead us to a championship. Like most were saying “he just needs the playmakers from the south.” Obviously I couldn’t have been more wrong. Changed how I view coaching hires now.
Coaching is such a crapshoot that you have no idea who is going to be great. I feel great about a lot of the candidates thrown out and see the positives in all of them from Lane and Lanning to Sumrall, Key, and Golesh types. If we can have a $20m roster every year with a good coach that wants to be here and wants to work I’m excited. I’m way less concerned that it’s Lane or bust (although I’d love Lane here)

Ohio state has such a talent advantage I guess it’s hard to say if hartline would succeed
With that said Dan lanning also had a huge talent advantage at Georgia

There is no argument against it. Oh, he sucks after 1 year? $1.5 mil buyout. Next FCS nati coach comes here after him, and goes 10-2 in his first year? Bam, problem solved. And you just saved $100,000,000 that can go to NIL. Money Ball for College Football
“This idea works because in my hypothetical world the second coach goes 10-2 after a 1 year experiment with another FCS coach”
