Read about the social policies post WW2 in the United States and who was promoting all of this within our media.
i recently read Whittaker Chambers autobiography. they weren’t just in the media. Our government was infiltrated with them, all pushing socialism while working for the department of labor, department of agriculture, etc.
it was astounding how many there were, they were communists, and many of them Jewish.
what did you think of trump’s speech at coast guard commencement recently?

Libs are going crazy about it; that it was all about himself, and well, you know TDS in general.
i enjoyed it. for the first 25 minutes all he did was praise the cadets.
it is true that he spent another 25 minutes talking about his presidency, current events, the border, Iran.
he probably should have cut out some of that.
but i didn’t hear anything that would make me scream and pull my green hair out.

can you explain this reference?
it’s been several years since i read the book so i don’t recall what this might be referring to.
Don Quixote would be my choice.
who has read Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon novel?

i just started it. it’s a hard read i find. she writes very well, but passages sometimes require a second reading to comprehend what’s going on.
it’s from 1977. it seems “race” comes up quite often, white people are painted with a very broad brush.
has the novel been discussed here? what do you think about it?
it’s an interesting read for me, but i wouldn’t says it’s a page turner that is engrossing and i can’t put it down.
but it’s engaging in that it is so unpredictable.

i have an electric piano; i don’t know if it has blue ray capabilities because it’s several years old. i want to learn piano without subjecting the whole family to the impending dissonance that will result.
can someone recommend a brand for wired headphones?

can i get a quality “made in usa” brand of headphones?

she’s simply referring to the Great Memphis Expansion, which if i remember correctly, happened right after World War Eleven.

for what it’s worth, i have read hundreds of letters written by the soldiers who fought in the war. these are letters written to family and loved ones, from both union and confederate soldiers , and slavery is NEVER mentioned. NOT ONCE. Anyone can go online and read these letters. talk about a great piece of our history!! But no one mentions slavery.
thanks for the replies. i’m gonna recommend it. they’re already familiar with it.
currently i’m listening to the audiobook version that’s on Youtube. Several people are praising the narrator of the job he does voicing the different characters. But i actually don’t think he nails Ignatius’s voice. doesn’t sound like New Orleans, sounds like just a typical Southerner. In New Orleans we DON’T say “Ba “Tawn” Rouge. We say BATTIN Rouge.

should i recommend Confederacy of Dunces to my sons?
Posted by selfgen on 4/30/26 at 6:51 pm
i grew up in New Orleans in the 70s and 80s; the book was assigned to us at Jesuit High. i appreciated it a lot more little later when i was older, wiser and had discovered weed. Seriously, this book cracked me up and I related to all the New Orleans references.
Now i’m 60 years old and i have 4 sons; but we’ve be in Lafayette for 30 years now.
i am wondering how the book has aged, will my sons, who are in their 20s, enjoy it and will a lot of the humor get lost due to my boys not being as familiar with New Orleans, French Quarter, etc?
what do you think?

yep. give the people what they want.
i don’t have a huge problem with him. he can be annoying. but i actually enjoyed listening to his recent podcast with John Kiriakou as his guest. they had a good discussion.
they desperately want to return to the days of Covid. it was an equalizer for these low lifes. everyone had to stay home, and the government had control. the government gave everyone money. they love the idea of the government just controlling our lives and providing everyone with a monthly check to live off of. nothing more was expected of them. they long for those days.
that’s the only reason i can think of. they would love for a pandemic to come back.

you really think 80 million people voted for Biden, who didn’t even campaign?
that’s more votes than Obama got in 2016. C’mon man! you gotta admit, Biden has no personality, no appeal to voters.
the election was stolen; there’s evidence everywhere, there’s videos of ballot boxes being stuffed with huge packets of ballots, etc.
the bottom line is there’s no way more people turned out to vote for Biden than did for the charismatic first black president who was running for reelection.

why do you think ICE agents started wearing masks?
the insane left were doxing them, threatening to kill them.
