I want to see Ghost rip into at least one of Jon Snow's murderers. Even though he's dead, have a feeling that after Davos lights Jon's funeral pyre, Jon will rise from out of the flames. He'll be free of the Nights Watch, and will be kicking major arse in taking back Winterfell.
Oscar Isaac: On Star Wars VIII "It feels like we're making an independent film"

I hope Rian Johnson makes Ep 8 darker, but it should still feel like a Star Wars movie too. I'm not sure if what Oscar Isaac says about it feeling like an independent film is a good thing or not.

re: What movie are you going to see on Christmas Day/weekend?

Hateful Eight tonight, only 1 theater here has the 70 mm set up today.

Thanks for the recommendation, I saw the advertisement on Netflix recently, but didn't know if it was any good, so I opted to rewatch Breaking Bad for the zillionth time. Will watch MaM later tonight.
re: MTB mod, can we merge all Star Wars threads?

I wanted to see Ron Howard's, The Heart of the Sea, but heard it's not good. Rather just keep seeing Star Wars, TBH.
Wish Deadpool was coming out on Christmas instead of February 12th. But we do get a new Deadpool trailer on the 25th, at least.

They don't deserve that name, more like the mentally incapacitated board for them.

Saw it in 3D last Thursday, but after seeing it again in 2D, I think 2D was better, those 3D glasses are uncomfortable anyway, IMO. I'm still curious as to whether JJ did in fact insert a glimpse of the bones of Jar Jar in one of the flying shots over Jackuu. He said something about doing that a long time ago, and I haven't seen or heard about whether he did it or not.
re: J.J. Abrams is regretting not directing Episode VIII

I keep reading about how good the Ep 8 script is, and that Rian Johnson is a better director in terms of talent. Haven't seen Johnson's Looper, but one of his Breaking Bad episodes that he directed, Ozymandias was outstanding.

there is precedent in the EU for using the force to suppress or wipe someone's memory.
Yup, if I were Rian Johnson, I would go that way. Let's say Rey was being trained as a child before the KoR exterminated the jedi Luke was training. Perhaps, Luke used the force to wipe her memory, had her dropped off on Jackuu where Max Von Sydow's character watched over her (sort of like Ben did w/a young Luke Skywalker). So if she lost memory of the training, but still possessed some of the jedi training skillset, to me that would explain how she seemed more advanced in the force than she should have been. If Kylo Ren exterminated the jedi at age 19-20, and Rey was around 10 years old when this all happened, it would make sense. Either way, I'm hoping the new director (Johnson) goes in a more interesting direction in explaining Rey's backstory, instead of doing the obvious in saying Luke is her dad.

I liked her personality but thought she looked like cheap CGI
I agree, her personality was great, made you want to know more about her character. Not a fan of CGI, would have preferred a puppet like they did w/ Yoda back in the 80's.

Maz needed more back story
Apparently, there were more Maz scenes, but there were rumors those scenes were cut because JJ wasn't thrilled w/ Lupita Nyong'o's work in the film, or parts of it.
Personally, I really liked Maz's character in the film, hopefully we'll see some additional scenes w/ her within the deleted scenes that'll be available when the movie comes out on DVD/BR.

Yes. They took an old clip of sir Alec saying "afraid" and clipped it down to get the "rey"
Loved that they did that, I think Rey is related to a major character, or perhaps she was being trained by Luke as a child, then Luke wiped her memory using the force (before Knights of Ren wiped out all of Luke's pupils), then she's taken to Jackuu where maybe Max Von Sydow's character kept watch over her until she became an adult. I've read rumors that Ben Solo is almost 10 years older than Rey, so if he turned to the darkside at age 19-20, and she was around age 10 when it all went down, it could have gone down that way -but it's only speculation. Most people right now are speculating that they'll reveal her to be Luke's kid.

Did anybody else here catch how they reworked(edited from Ep 4) Alec Guinness's voice to say, "Rey" while Rey was having that flashback inside that temple? Then you hear Ewan McGregor's voice say, "Rey, you've taken your first step" -or something to that effect.
Didn't hear this last Thursday, but saw it again yesterday, and I caught it.
