The Navionics Boating app (Garmin recently bought out Navionics) is pretty handy and has a satellite view. I think its $50/year to get the full features where you can lay down tracks and way points. You can mark a waypoint and it'll lay down a track for you to follow and flag any hazards along the way.
Idk if I would use that feature blindly but its really helpful at times.

As already mentioned, Under water lights are for watching fish, lights above water are for catching. Highly recommend above water lights over underwater.

I bought the highlighter yellow twisted Max power based on that video. Idk if its the best but its a lot better than the generic orange string that came with mine.

Freefly and other bamboo shirts are comfortable as hell but I don't like them if theyre getting wet or sweating. I think the other dri fit type materials are cooler to wear in the summer.
Magellan or Bassdash on amazon are pretty cheap and good enough for a fishing shirt if thats what you're looking for. Not as nice material as columbia, simms, aftco, but again if youre looking for something to get blood and slime on.

It's obvious the future of waterfowl hunting in Louisiana has been trending in the wrong direction for awhile, what I cant understand is why South Texas and Mexico still seem to get plenty of birds every year. There's a ton of water and not a fraction of the pressure as you see in the lower Ms flyway but most of the water is saltier than the gulf so its tough for me to believe the habitat is better.
It's a small sample size but I spent a few days in Port Mansfield, TX after Christmas and one evening saw thousands of birds get off what I think was the King ranch and head to wherever they were roosting out in the bay. It was the most birds I had ever seen, waves and waves of thousands of birds. It was all redheads and scaup but was impressive to see. The guy I was with that spends a lot of time down there said there aren't as many birds down as usual. So obviously weather plays a part in it but something else is up.
We hunted 3 mornings with 3 guys and had no problem shooting 3 man limits each morning of teal, spoons, a few pintail and divers mixed in on public land.

This. Somtimes they'll crumble, other times they can eat 3 shots. Lead out in front of their head so you get some shot into the head and neck and not the body.

I referred someone on here a few years ago and I believe theyve been back every year.
4K Ranch in Brady, TX. Self Guided, Guides will drop you off in the morning and pick up after. A good buddy manages the ranch and I've helped guide in the past, really cool place with alot of birds and around 10k acres to hunt. You can look them up on instagram @ 4kranchhunting. Call/Text Cody at 325-215-3630, tell him DuckSausage sent you.

These surveys dont always follow what we see on our lease near Holly Beach. But I will say grey ducks being down 78% from the 10 year average I agree with.
We used to always have a couple hundred greys that lived in our marsh, at times more. It was almost a guarantee to at least kill a few every hunt and have more land out in the middle of the ponds up until about 5 years ago. Now its almost all teal with a couple greys, scaup, spoons, etc mixed in.
Only thing I can attribute it to is we still haven't had the feed in our ponds come back since Hurricane Laura like we had before.

Idk about the 25HP but 225 yamaha starts peeing when you start it.

We redid our master shower last year, looks to be about the same size as the one pictured. It was around $10k which still seems crazy to me.
We wanted to renovate the whole bathroom, floors, countertops, take out the tub and extend the shower and add a linen closet. We didn’t go through picking out the floors, countertops, finishings, etc but the estimate was around $30-40k depending on price of the items above. This was in Houston as well.
Over the past few years I’ve come to figure just about any renovation you want to do is going to be a minimum of ~$8-10k

Bought the 3” affinity in 2017. Haven’t had any problems with it other than the padding on the recoil pad kinda falling apart.
Was able to find a replacement on Midwest online but just looked and they’re all sold out now everywhere. It’s an odd shape that’s specific to the Franchi’s so not sure what’d happen if I needed another one.

Big palm leaves if you can find them. Havent done it personally but have seen others use it. If you can find them somewhat fresh theyre pretty wide so would provide a fairly quick base and then can add grass on top.

Went to surfside the last 2 weekends and wasnt great but caught 5-10 trout each morning.
2 weeks ago started catching as soon as I got out of the truck on topwater in the first gut. It shut off after about 30 minutes and couldnt find them again other than a couple stragglers here and there.
From what i've noticed, Surfside water tends to be a little cleaner and deeper compared to the other side of Jetties to the east and west. Have done well on Quintana beach in the past too but its stained right now from the Brazos runoff.

re: Most Durable Waders
Posted by DuckSausage on 6/17/24 at 8:41 pm
Unless you’re willing to drop $1k for Simms, Sitka or Chene, I don’t really think there’s any that are that much more durable than others. Even those will leak but they’ll repair them but you’ll be without your $1k waders for a month or 2 when you really need them.
I’ve had a pair of the Magellan tredlite breathables last 4 years with around 15 hunts a year and had another pair start leaking after one season. I really think it’s luck of the draw. A couple years ago they were $140 and now I think they’re around $200 but I know if they leak after the first couple uses I can return them.

Buy one of those outlet tester that will tell you if you have the ground/neutral/hot wires wired correctly.
I can do a good bit of DIY work but don’t really understand electrical other than rewiring things how they came out. This has saved me a few times.
Something like this. Every house should have one

I have a 4 yr old lab and have dealt with it her whole life. Seems to somewhat have grown out of it.
I used to think it was water related but she’s had them without being in any water for a month or so. I still always try to rise her ears after she swims. Usually the left ear. I tend to think it may have something to do environmentally like allergies, seems to get them more often in the spring.
Have a buddy that’s a vet I got to give me an extra bottle of mometamex antibiotic so I at least don’t have to pay for a vet visit when she gets one. It usually knocks it out after a couple of days.
