She said recently, after the Samford game I think, that the team's goals were to finish in the top half of the league and qualify for the NCAA tournament. I think she knows where they're at....

To preserve their RPI, I assume. Cancelled with Samford this week and UAB for next. Samford's website says the cancellation was at Alabama's request and not weather or Covid related.
Is this common for teams on the bubble?

They've been under lockdown for a week. People are infectious for ~14 days. Cases should begin to level off within a week, if I have this figured correctly....

Ok, thanks for all your input. Based on your feedback we've decided to do Big Bend, but we're gonna wait until next Spring to catch wildflower season (we already have a Spring trip set to N. Carolina next month)....

Middle Prong Trail is about 8 miles out and back, and passes several falls, a couple of which are slightly off the beaten path. Here is an excellent description to help make sure you don't miss anything:

The wife (no pics) and I are planning a trip out to West Texas in the fall. We're trying to decide between Big Bend National Park and a combo of Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Alas, we don't have time to do all three.

Relatively close (45 mins drive) to Elkmont is Middle Prong Trail, one of the best and most underrated hikes in the Smokies and really not difficult. Leads to a couple of waterfalls.
Closer, maybe 30 minutes, is Spruce Flats Falls, a not so well known but very attractive falls. The trail starts ...
