Look Ryan, I'm not here to discredit or bash DD, but simply to give credit where credit is due. Nor am I trying to engage in some sort of gymnastics pissing contest.
I have no doubt that DD probably asked JA for a first-class arena. But asking for and providing a clear action plan of how to get it done are two entirely different things. Of course DD raised money in the past. As does any HC of LSU, as it's literally in their job descriptions.
The historical fact though, is that Jay Clark absolutely spearheaded the vision and plan to get it done. Jay came from a program with 10 National championships. Jay recruited gymnasts for all 10 of those championships. He knew what it took to win championships. And to DD's credit, she hired him away from a Georgia. Jay was being undermined by Susanne, UGA's legendary 10-time NC Head Coach, who stayed involved after "retiring" as HC of the Gym-Dogs. DD hired him with the understanding that she would retire after a few years. So Jay was setting this program up to have quick success once he took over. He has a NC in year 4. DD was a good coach but never won a NC in 4+ decades.
There is no argument here. Stop discrediting Jay Clark's value and embrace what you now have. A winner, at the highest level. A program that now makes money. Enjoy it!

This is a completely ignorant statement. Not saying you are ignorant, merely this statement. Jay spearheaded thier new facility from START to FINISH. Jay pitched the idea to administration. He designed the building, he secured all the donor funding, he dealt with the contractors, and everything else. A -Z.

Ummm... yes, yes, and yes.
I’m a CEH fan but also respect Murphy’s Law. If he or Curry gets hurt, we are screwed.

re: Does anyone know if Marvin Wilson has seen a game in TS?
Posted by LSU4ea on 11/4/16 at 11:38 am
Not sure. My phone is broken, otherwise I could look at older texts. I think either Jacksonville St. or MSU? My tickets are near where all the recruits sit on the WNW side of TS. He's been on a few unofficial's going back to last year. I've pointed him out to my son every time.

Nothing will compare to this though, obviously.

Yes. He's seen at least one this year, but I think more total. I've sat next to him.

Anybody have a 14-16' bateau/skiff/jon boat they want to get rig of? I have a 25hp Mercury I can put on it. My son is getting an itch to fish &/or go frogging around the house.

Michael Smith recruited the hell out of New Orleans.
I believe he was the first choice until...He did some negative recruiting against Les & LSU. I'm hearing Les wasn't to thrilled about it. It would take some smoothing over IMO. Look for David Johnson to be in the mix. I'm still holding out hope for Curtis Johnson though.

Good coaches (Stallings) win national titles at Alabama. Great coaches (Bryant/Saban) become legends of the sport. You don't find at LSU.
There is your difference. It's like Vince Dooley told Saban before taking the LSU job. "If LSU ever gets it figured out (meaning a BAMA level commitment from the state & program), EVERYONE in the SEC is playing for 2nd place."
Unfortunately, we're just now starting to see what real commitment looks like and takes.
