I once had one pat me on the back at the Tractor Supply when it wandered off from the Myrtles...
re: Sire Larry Carlton guitars, any of you guys have experience with them?
Posted by carrguitar on 5/29/25 at 4:12 pm
Further echoing what has already been said...haven't played the LC model, but have played multiple iterations of the Sire bass line and they punch way above their weight in value. Played a couple new, right of the box and it was literally tune up and run with.

I had a similar thought string yesterday while mowing. When new technology comes out, we act as if we have invented something. In reality, all the material and laws of physics have always existed and anything that exists now, or in the future, could have existed at any point in time. The principles of making, say a computer, existed in the same time that pyramids were being constructed. Maybe that's too close of a conspiracy theory to use as an example. The principles of creating a combustible engine automobile existed at the same time as cavemen were walking around caves.
Ok, enough rambling.

re: Can you name better guitar solos then on November Rain?
Posted by carrguitar on 5/12/25 at 4:13 pm
Estranged goes hard.
Don't Cry (alt lyrics for me) also has a great melodic solo.
November Rain has reached the unfortunate status of getting labeled as overrated because it was so widely pushed....but to OP's point. Those solos are still amazing.
Plenty of other solos in the world that reach the level of these....all up to personal taste. But these are three of Slash's finest work.

Everything you love about Louisiana is Bawcomville

Anyone that embarrasses the Cowboys and makes them quit on their season is worth an appreciation in my book.
re: What’s the singular scene put to screen that encapsulates Batman for you?
Posted by carrguitar on 5/9/25 at 8:55 am
The docks scene, and the whole BB movie, is probably the most well rounded encapsulation of what Batman should be, in my opinion.
But I will say that for all the hate it gets, when I was a 7 year old seeing Batman and Robin, along with the action figures in walmart, the mcdonalds promotion, and all other things marketing genius for a simple southern boy....that "look" was Batman to me for the longest time.

It's the old Kenny Rogers song about playing your last card in your hand
"you gotta know when hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, and when to kick another human being in the nuts because you're a piece of shite and you then blame your woes on another race" :violin:

Absolutely. She’s most likely very cool and down to earth.

Necrobumping this.
I love the band. Someone stated earlier, there's almost no skips in their catalogue and they have that perfect balance of being heavy but retaining melodies and hooks.
Was on the rail to see them this past weekend in Brandon, MS. Bens vocals aren't quite the same as when he was younger, but still plenty strong enough to put on a great show. They are co-headlining with Staind right now, and while Staind was great....BB was banger after banger. Staind was hit song...3 song lull.....hit song....3 song lull...hit song.
Different strokes for different folks, but give me BB.

Great for a lot of uses. The people who did the "roast my easter picture" trend will be the first that the robot overlords slaughter, but it has made a lot of things easier elsewise.
