Kamala is probably an even worse candidate than Hilary.

re: SNL going full propaganda mode
Posted by Tigerroar73 on 10/20/24 at 1:31 am
To be honest, SNL was never very funny in the first place, and people have forgotten about how even 30 or 40 years ago, 95% of their skits were horribly unfunny.
But it wasn't until more recently that they developed a real political bias.

Every time Kamala speaks with Liz, she probably causes about 50,000 Democrats who still hate the Bushes and Cheneys to not vote. I'm not joking.

Eh, this probably isn't the way Fox is thinking, but televising how embarrassing Kamala is at her rallies probably is Trump's best campaign tool.
Thoughts on "Christian Right"?

Honestly, they seem like such farces of conservatives aside from the abortion issue. Or the other issues they bring into the Republican Party like contraception, shekels for Israel, the Ten Commandments, school prayer, or anything related to sex. Look at Mike Landry and Mike Johnson. Are those seriously good conservatives to you?
The Evangelicals look even less trustworthy when you look at some of their pre-Reagan figures. For example, William Jennings Bryan, most known as the Scopes Monkey guy? Well, what's less remembered today is that he was pretty much the original communist of US politics, before even Huey Long.
The Evangelicals made a faux conversion to the Republican Party under Reagan, who himself was a fake conservative and a former Democrat.
Barry Goldwater, unlike Ronald Reagan, was an actual conservative. And Goldwater talked about the dangers of letting the preachers into the Republican Party for a reason.

I doubt it's that effective of a campaign strategy, but it's better than trotting out the Cheneys.
Trotting out these Republicans probably won't either gain or lose her voters.
Trotting out the Cheneys- eh, that seems like it'll outright lose her voters.

I think there’s enough mitigating circumstances that they should have gotten life without parole rather than the death penalty.
I’m still not sure why some liberals are acting like they should be let out of prison, though.

I don’t think people on welfare should be allowed to vote, but why would you take voting rights away from people who live in an apartment?
I know apartment dwellers generally have less money than “landowners”, but I don’t really care how much money a voter has as long as they’re not taking welfare from the government.

re: Breaking online- Harris in talks to go on Rogan
Posted by Tigerroar73 on 10/15/24 at 12:36 pm
She’s currently doing a bunch of interviews on podcasts that nobody’s ever heard of before like Call Me Daddy. That way
1. Hardly anybody will hear her when she messes up
2. The handful of people who do hear her will all be Democrats who will refuse to tell other people how bad her interview is.
Interviewing on a popular podcast like Rogan would be a fiasco for her.

She really doesn't have the ability to be elected president.
Hilary Clinton is the person who much moreso seemed to try to lose her presidential election, despite having the ability to win.

I am an atheist and view Judaism, Christianity and Islam as all being incorrect.
But the people on this forum are Christians yet support funding for Israel to treat the world's first Christian community in the Holy Land like shite. So I'm not sure why you're surprised that people on this forum don't care if Israel treats Lebanese Christians badly. If anything the Palestinian Christians would be more important to the worldwide Christian community than the Lebanese Christians are.
I mean, Jesus Christ himself was the first Palestinian if you look at history through a presentism view. Jesus was the first resident of Israel to follow either Christianity or Islam. Yet people on here like spending taxpayer money on Israel bombing the Gaza Christians and committing apartheid against the West Bank Christians.
Of course, with all that being said, it's not like the Palestinian Muslims and Christians would be treating the Jews any better if they were actually in a position of power over the Jews.

Look, I'm not really going to morally fault Israel that much. Israel does what is in Israel's best interest. If I were the Israeli prime minister, I doubt I'd be acting any nicer to the Palestinians or the Lebanese than Netanyahu is.
With that being said, there is a tendency for people on here to act like the Israeli self-interest is interchangeable with the US self interest.
I don't think there's really a moral or immoral side in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Similar to the fights between white people and the Native Americans, it's a fight between two sides that are pretty understandably both fighting for their own self-interest.
But I'm not sure why the US has to get involved in the Israeli/Palestine conflict. What's in it for us?

re: Seriously, how do you pronounce Kamala's name?
Posted by Tigerroar73 on 10/14/24 at 11:50 pm
If you look at Youtube videos on this issue, there are 2 common themes:
1. There are several different pronounciations for Kamala. It's hard to explain to Westerners how many languages there are in India, and how there can be a bunch of different pronounciations for the same name.
2. However, there's no pronounciation that's remotely similar to comma-la. That's a made up pronounciation that she's going with because it's easier for Westerners to pronounce.

Lollllll.
At first glance I'd think this would pretty much guarantee defeat by causing a lot of her base to refuse to vote for her.
But, on second thought, maybe some of her base would establish some different rules for her and think that she and only she should have the right to go on Joe Rogan? Who knows.

re: Donald Trump inching closer to winning in Virginia

1. I don’t really think anybody expected Democrats to have the same mail in voting advantage in 2024 that they had in 2020. In 2020, Democrats had an unusually high mail in advantage because Democrats were disproportionately more scared of COVID. COVID is gone now, so Democrats should be back to the mail in advantage they had in 2016.
2. I think that Trump will win. But Virginia is almost irrelevant, in the sense that if Trump wins Virginia he’ll win more than enough elsewhere to win the election.

Clinton was very much a Blue Dog Democratic himself. That’s why he was the last Democratic presidential nominee to win a lot of the white Southern vote.
It wasn’t until 2010 that the South became Republican at the non-presidential level.

Keep in mind
1. Hilary has always been more liberal than Bill
2. Even the pre-2016 version of Hilary would barely fit in the current Democratic Party. For example, she went around giving speeches favoring her husband’s anti-crime legislation. Even as late as 2008, she was pro-Second Amendment and got accused by Obama of being Annie Oakley.
Her 2016 platform was pretty noticeably more liberal than her previous platforms, particularly on how she had done a dramatic flip flop on gun rights between 2008 and 2016.
