Even as a Bayern fan it was a great atmosphere, better team won and Neuer was drunker than I was…best of luck to y’all the rest of the way and hoping we are on opposite sides of the bracket in the spring

FBD is Lunch for two after some ribs in Memphis

Just hopped in here to say thanks for this rec. 3 weeks ago we flew into ORD, took the Blue Line to Washington. The rest of our crew walked to the South Shore Line stop at Millennium and I sprinted across the river to grab a sausage/onion/peppers tavern pie. Grabbed an Uber to meet them and we devoured that pie on the train to South Bend for the USC game.

Every time I go to Chicago, I find another spot like this that I have to get back to at some point...could go every year and not get tired of this city:cheers:

Would you fly into Miami and then rent a car and drive through the keys

Went last January and few into EYW and then drove to MIA for the flight back to MSY...was sort of the best of both worlds.

Flying into Key West is super easy and is a nice way to hit the ground running. Cab/shuttle downtown is about 15 mins, so you'll be checked in and onto your plans within the hour.

Flying out of MIA allows the gorgeous drive up Hwy 1. We stopped in Islamorada for lunch at Morada Bay (the Netflix series Bloodline was filmed on site here). There was a little anxiety to make sure the rental didn't get into a fender bender once into Miami on the way to the airport but it was still a nice drive.

Also how many days would be enough? 3? 4?

I think 3 nights are enough for typical downtown stuff but an extra day for an excursion/boat day would be nice. (NOLA snowstorm cut our trip to Mile O Fest down to 2 nights and it certainly felt rushed...but now we have a reason to go back!)

If Bayern score two goals at The Emirates they are full blown favorites for all the marbles.

That would be more at home than they've given up in total all year, correct?

The 19-20 squad that won during Covid was almost as good as 12-13, and all 3 teams under Pep were world class as well. I think this one is somehow still getting its legs in a few ways, but potential is there if they avoid injuries.

He’s got them playing extremely consistently right now…they’ll miss Diaz at the Emirates for the next CL game but I’ve been impressed at how well the squad has fared without Musiala or Davies to this point.

Laimer is playing himself into a new deal for sure. Tah has helped stabilize Upa better than Minjae ever did.

(I’m sure they’ll now blow Saturday’s match at Union, but you can’t yet complain about anything this fall)

Just a heads up that the Bears are playing at home and it's a noon game so that train might be a little more crowded and festive than it otherwise would be.

Yes, figured this might be the case. Flights tfrom MSY-ORD were much more than I wanted to pay but couldn’t avoid it.

SSL was easy today, but we made it more difficult picking up a tavern pie from Zarella for the journey (thanks to hoops’ definitive thread for the rec )
MSY was a walk right up in the normal line at 8:15am today…I think the TSA Pre line was longer than ours.

I do think grounds crew challenges are a bigger issue. Sat on the tarmac for like 30 mins after landing at ORD because the gate still had a departing plane there

Bumping this thread since we are doing a similar trip for the Notre Dame-USC game this weekend with two kids (8 & 5)...we have friends in nearby Mishawaka who are hosting us.

Flying into ORD Friday morning and taking CTA downtown. Plan to take the South Shore Line 4pm train from Millennium Station to South Bend airport Friday afternoon. Can we buy these tickets now and then validate/activate on Friday before we hop on? Also, will they sell out and how far ahead of time should we get to the station?

Taking SSL train Sunday morning back to Chicago (looks like kids are free on that leg since it's weekend and non-peak hours). Will try to find a lunch spot the kids will enjoy somewhere in River North area. Not flying out til Monday morning.

Any help is appreciated

USA/Canada Nexus experiences

Posted by drockw1 on 10/9/25 at 1:49 am
Taking the wife (no pics) & the kids to Banff for Christmas. I just applied (and dropped the $120) for Nexus which I presume is basically a back & forth between the northern border and here. Kids already have passports but I gotta get the wife signed up, but have yet to do that.

Anyone with experiences to share? It sounds like we get one kid free for each adult but just don't want any surprises at DFW on the way to Calgary.

 in advance...grateful to this board regardless

Is Dakaar that good? I had a customer raving about it the other day.

It's very good and a memorable experience...but I recall the bill for 4 of us was pushing $1k with the tasting menu and wine pairings.

I think I'd rather go with the same group to Clancy's 2 or 3 times for that price instead of returning to Dakar.

Freitag Wiesn Fussball...great backheel by Tah who should get credit for the goal but it looks like it'll go to Lucho. 1-0 early

Agreed with your thoughts on BVB...a few of those squads since 2012 could/should have won the league, but many of those years they weren't even close due to sloppy, unnecessary results like last week's
