try 5th round and another in the 8th round both are enrolled in classes and turned down $$$
MSU had no player drafted in the 8th round.
Outside of Woodruff only Lindgren (12th round) and this new guy Flair (who was never going pro) were drafted.

What he wanted to point out is that Bianco knows what's going to happen and doesn't mind getting used, because there is no significant dropoff between his Plan B options.
I can tell by his hurt feelings that I'm not very far from being entirely correct on his reaction come signing day.
And to respond to his LSU being the only school comment, we are talking about LA natives here. Nothing personal. Of course it happens elsewhere. LSU just happens to be one of a handful of schools that offer families that kind of negotiating power.
And Ole Miss is not one of the fingers on that hand.
You couldn't be more wrong. I won't have my feelings hurt if they go pro. We've signed kids that have gone pro pretty much every year. It happens.
But I'll take a shot at them any day of the week. Seth Smith, Stephen Head, Cody Satterwhite, Lance Lynn, Bobby Wahl all could easily have gone pro had they wanted to. I never want to not sign a guy because he might go pro. There's always a chance.

You just described a situation the exact opposite that has been talked about here.
Is it opposite argument Tuesday?
Or did you just want to point out the Rebs had a great player?
The point is Ole Miss took a big talent and got moved from around half a mil to about 3 mil. He went to school at Ole Miss and improved his draft stock considerably. This is an example of how the threat of going to Ole Miss can be used as leverage in negotiations. Not just LSU.
Try and keep up.

Yeah I'm sure guys like Pomeranz who went in the 12th round and offered a half mil by the rangers and then goes to Ole Miss and turns into a top 5 pick, those guys don't help out a school's reputation for being a threat to go to college.
Only LSU.
It's amazing you act like only LSU goes through this. It's called contingency. You offer a kid one number if player A signs. If he doesn't sign you get another number.
It sucks but that's how you have to play with scholarship numbers limited the way they are.
I'll bet Bianco has no idea they have pro potential. Has not the first clue.

LSU tried to hotbox him into committing and it backfired.

This is so completely retarded. Do you really think if Checcini had said his asking price was 1.25 million Manieri wouldn't have signed him? Of course he would have.
Do you really not think Manieri helped (or at least tried) to talk his asking price up to what it was? "You know Garin you're really worth more. You should hold out for more". Of course he did.
Have a back up plan like every other college coach in the country.
If you take someone that is worth a million dollars or more, guess what, don't be surprised if they go pro. Someone pass that memo to PM and everyone would be a lot happier.

he didn't ask him to turn it down. P.M. doesn't have a problem with kids going pro or taking money. Just tell him that is your intention and he wont recruit you.
That's a bunch of BS. LSU recruits and signs players that go pro every year. Do you think he gets fooled multiple times every year? You're talking about becoming a millionaire. Again has Manieri ever pulled someone's scholarship and caused a transfer? Of course he has.
Guess what. It happens to every school. Get over it.

By all means enlighten me.
And as a side note is it possible to have a conversation about sports with an LSU fan without the LSU fan turning it into a dick measuring contest and thinking that by the very fact that they are an LSU fan (likely due proximity to the school rather than the diploma from it) that you are a better person to me?
And it seems I've got right the only relevant portion of the story. Y'all are pissed because a guy got paid 1.31 million dollars to play professional baseball instead of go to LSU. Throw in a bunch of but but but he said blah blah blah and I've got the story.

What a bunch of bitches. So now every player that you sign in baseball that goes pro "flat out lies" to the coaching staff. He said it would take 1.75 and he took 1.3. Dude got first round money and he's the bad guy? How many players has Manieri signed that later lost their scholarship and had to transfer? Don't act like baseball coaches are little choir boys.
News flash. If you get first round money then you take first round money. It's not much of a decision. If you don't want the risk then don't recruit those players. But don't trash the player and family for doing what is best for them. Is it really that bad to change your mind and come out on the other side a millionaire?
Give me a break

Just sayin don't you think it's strange that he's a combine wonder? Nobody has even heard of this guy for a reason. Namely, he doesn't play football well.

Haha...really? Jalen Collins? Here's how good he is. He camped at MSU and failed to get an offer. Nice going!
