From Flagstaff take 89A South to Sedona...beautiful drive through Oak Creek Canyon. Takes about an hour with no stops and you will descend about 4500 feet. Just as beautiful on way back up.

Timed entry permits needed and they book up once released 1 month in advance…however they do release a certain percentage the night before at 7 pm. Just be sure to login to the recreation.gov app a couple minutes before 7 and you should be good.
We were just there 3 weeks ago and got permits easily the night before.
Use the shuttle system if attempting any hikes on Bear Lake corridor. Parking fills up extremely early. Shuttles run every 15 minutes - very convenient.
If up to the hike highly recommend Mills Lake off of Glacier Gorge trailhead.
Catch a sunrise at Sprague Lake. Catch a sunset at Forest Canyon Overlook off Trail Ridge Road.
Enjoy…I love the place and could go back every year if wife would let me.

We had a business associate from New Braunfels, TX that was in town (Kenner) for a sales call in the 90’s. After dinner and a couple of drinks he headed back to his hotel via I-10 west and missed his exit. It was late at night, before gps and he wasn’t from area. He somehow made it all the way through the Bonnet Carrie spillway and ended up on I-55 towards Hammond. At some point he pulled over needing to take a leak. Jumped the railing thinking he wasn’t on a raised roadway and fell into the marsh/swamp.
Was down there for an hour or so until he heard a wreck on roadway above him. A lady, also driving drunk, plowed into the back of his vehicle. Cops showed up and he started yelling for help. If that lady hadn’t had hit his car no telling when he would have been found. Hell of a story to tell the rest of your life.

I'll never forget the older Oklahoma fan sitting in front of me complaining in the 2nd quarter that he drove 12 hours to witness that game in person and had to drive 12 hours back and that the game was over in 20 minutes of game time.

Are LSU football season tickets considered "significant?"
My family has been sitting in the same seats in the South Endzone since the 50's. My grandfather graduated from LSU in 1934 (have his diploma hanging in the house) and worked for LSU as a county agent and part of his salary package included the seats. My mom casually dropped in conversation one day that she was at the Halloween Night game when Cannon ran the punt back and was watching from those seats as an 18 year old - she'd enroll at LSU the following year.
They got passed down to my Mom in the 80's. They are now passed down to me. My kids are the 4th generation to squeeze their asses into those seats in 407.
Will inherit a significant amount of money to me (7 figures) but hopefully not anytime soon. Hope to be in a position that I can just sit it in the market and allow me to sit back and relax in my later years and hopefully pass it down to my kids (along with the aforementioned football tickets.)

Heading to Breckenridge for 3 days in mid-June and then will head up to Estes Park for 3 days. No real plans other than to take the family hiking and enjoy some mountain air.
We've been to Estes Park (RMNP) before so know the drill there. Any suggestions for Breck area - hikes/restaurants/etc...contemplating taking a day trip from there to try and hit the Maroon Bells.
Just trying to break up the trip a bit and rentals in Breck are surprisingly cheap in the summer.

Had to track my mother and father down while they were vacationing in Europe to let them know my sister died unexpectedly. Took about a half a day to reach them via phone at a hotel. Sucked.

They are sending all the kids to Cleary to play and then say there are low participation numbers (all while Lakeshore is using Bright because of renovations at their facility.)
The parish had a puff piece run online that had a picture of a deserted playground and parking lot - it was obvious the photo had been taken mid-day with the sun angle while all the damn kids are in school.
Anecdotal but every time I pass the park it is packed in the evenings. My daughter's high school team used one of the fields for practice and it was about impossible to park in the paved lots after 5 o'clock.

Did it this morning with my nephew. Rain stopped right at race time. Drove in from Metairie and the weather was crap on the commute.
Beer lines at after party weren’t long with the cold wind blowing.
Finished the 10k surprisingly well. Haven’t been able to train much with some ankle issues so didn’t quite know how it would go. Once I got in a pack the adrenaline kicked in and was able to knock it out. Not bad for turning 49 earlier in the week. Sure I will feel it tomorrow.
Overall cool experience.
Beer lines at after party weren’t long with the cold wind blowing.

We were tailgating that day and discussing what it would take to get the upset. A gust of wind picked up and blew the tree limbs over us and I jokingly said maybe a couple of passes will get floated in this wind and we can pick off a couple.
Baton Rouge was crazy that night. Cops were still directing traffic at Highland and State near 1 am. Some drunk LSU fan in nothing but purple boxers came running down Highland with a giant LSU flag. The cops stopped traffic to let him run right through.
Speaking of 2007 - took my neighbor to that one (his first LSU game). He still talks about it to this day in an almost religious reverence. I didn't see him for 3 days after. His wife just kept saying he hadn't recovered yet.
That day in Baton Rouge was the peak of tailgating culture before all the restrictions were put in place.
