Because shutting down a law school that provides a valuable service is a dumb suggestion
In any other context, a course whereby 2/3 of the students cannot pass the exit examination after 3 years of school is not providing a valuable service.

Aside from the fact it would severely reduce the number of attorneys, many who end up on the government tit (not that those jobs would go away, we would just have competent attorneys in their position, ultimately improving Louisiana), any funding Louisiana taxpayers funnel to SU Law would no longer be wasted.

And you can't honestly say that a 30% bar passage rate and the majority of Southern's product are not abysmal. You may be a fine attorney. Most Southern grads are not.

Southern Law Center is not going anywhere.

:rotflmao: Exhibit A.

That's some fine English you Southern lawyers know.

And sorry you're still sore about LSU Law.

Grambling merged with Tech,
Why merge Grambling and not Southern with LSU? Grambling is nicer than Southern.
You can't consolidate an entire law school, hardly any of their students would meet to standard for acceptance into LSU.

Can you imagine the national firestorm if the State tried to shut down the law school that was created specifically for racism?

I remember I was blessed with an exchange student from Southern one semester at LSU; luckily it was in Alston Johnston's class, so she got completely destroyed every time she was called on. He eventually grew impatient and wouldn't even call on her.

Just a reminder that shutting down an entire law school is too "disenfranchising" for modern tastes.

I know we have a lot of Southern grads on here; what do you think?

Power + Prejudice + Action = Racism

I got into a discussion with a gentleman (AA) this morning about discrimination/racism in the South, and he dropped this reasoning on me:

Racism = Power + Prejudice + Action

He then proceeded to tell me that by his rationale, white people are the only ones who can be racist, because "through privilege, we are the only ones who hold power to deprive those we subjugate".

One more thing I found curious, he was also talking about the definition of race, and how he could identify himself as African American because, although he had never been to Africa, he has African ancestry (or at least he thinks he does). I asked him if I could identify as German/English American, and he said "No, it doesn't work that way"

How has the OT dealt with these deep conversations before?

So it's my fault I used the TOPS tuition match to go to Tulane and then family connections in the legislature to pay the rest with grants? Don't worry, I'll unfortunately probably live here for the rest of my life (you're welcome, Louisiana) because I'm licensed to practice law here. But don't think I won't take a vacation out of this place every chance I get.

With our state only requiring a 20, if you can't get some form of scholarship outside of TOPS, you probably don't belong in college to begin with. Funny, I read we actually have a shortage of welders and plant workers. Most of you guys should have done what your parents did. My path was also chosen because my dad was a corporate lawyer and he always told me I owed it to my community to earn a spot as an elite citizen. Everybody has a role.

TOPS Only Requires an ACT of 20

Holy shite. I had a 25 the first time I took it as a freshman. Are you telling me you can get essentially a scholarship with only a 20? I know Louisiana public education sucks, but c'mon bros.

“Some legislators want to increase the bar to 24,” Caillier said. “If you did that, you’d eliminate 80 percent of the minority students.

“We will fight any attempt to raise the ACT score above 20 because if you do that, then you start impacting these kids. And that was the original intent.”

Racist ACT scores?
Do they respect us for standing up to them?

Do they secretly hate us for stealing the continent with the greatest resources on the planet earth?

I can't help but think when I meet an Englishman how much they missed out on by treating us like shite and then losing the war.

What does the OT think?
