re: Ole Miss v BAMA historically

Posted by rebs4evah on 1/8/16 at 11:41 am
haven't read all the posts but how about lets look at this from a more recent historical point of view?
it's hard for bamafans to accept that the times are changing, just as they did for bama. remember bamafans, before saban, bama had been pretty average for 16 years and 4 coaches. so, the torch passed to bama with Saban and he's done a great job.
now, lets look at the current situation. the torch is now being passed to Ole Miss. head to head, Freeze 2 Saban 1. its difficult for bama fans to accept losses, we know. "if we hadn't played so bad, they couldn't have won" or "we are the better team, look at all our turnovers". etc.
the Rebs are building depth through recruiting and are being as successful if not more so as any other team. check the rankings on Rivals, Scout, 247, CBS, etc. for how this recruiting class is doing.
and bama comes to the Vaught next year.
Freeze 2 - Saban 1 and counting.
It's on!
Hotty Toddy!
This is not new but has been a tradition since he passed.

All 25 recipients of the Chucky Mullins Courage award will be invited to the annual banquet tonight, along with his head coach at the time, Billy Brewer.
In this video you can see the bust of Chucky which is honored by every player as they pass onto/from the field.

This is Chucky Mullins weekend. Chucky's accident was 25 years ago, and that year the Ole Miss Rebels found themselves in the Liberty Bowl after the regular season. The connection between the Chucky Mullins story and Memphis is, therefore, a natural one.
Chucky Mullins Drive will be dedicated this weekend, and Mullins will be posthumously inducted into the M Club.
The number 38 will be featured on the Rebs' helmets and have a prominent fixture in the corners of both endzones at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The 38 yard line will be specially marked on the field.
The first 20,000 fans will get a No. 38 button to wear.

Deterrian Shackleford wears 38 this year.

just fyi.
first post on here. big Ole Miss fan since the 50's.
i'd say it's obvious - to be the best you have to beat the best and bama's been on top since saban got there. before saban and since the Bear, not so much, BUT they seem to have Ole Miss' number. even when we were the better team.
i see that we are a target on here by bama and arkansas fans. that's good. means we are getting attention by winning. gotta love what Freeze is doing in Oxford.
so, could this be the beginning of a trend - bama losing to Ole Miss? we think so. HOTTY TODDY!
btw, i think our top rivalries are 1) LSU and 2) MSU.
can't wait for the 2014 season to start.
