firing Richt was the right move for Georgia.
hiring a coordinator that has zero hc experience wasn't. he may turn out to be a good coach, but it was still a risky decision.

lsu treating Orgeron like a new permanent head coach, not interim.

watching Ed laughing and smiling with your president, and listening to your AD introduce him, this doesn't come across as just a temporary promotion to interim head coach. interims aren't introduced like this.
seems like your administration has pretty much decided on Orgeron as your permanent new head coach, barring any collapse this season.

just watch, LSU will end up getting stuck with Orgeron as their head coach

so, Miles is finally gone. and, unsurprisingly, the LSU fans are hopeful that they are going to bring in the next Saban to rule the SEC well into the future.
unfortunately for LSU, the big names are NOT coming. Herman will hold out for southern cal, texas, or an NFL gig. Fisher isn't leaving Florida State. Couple that with a clueless athletic department and an incompetent AD, and they will end up with Ed Orgeron as their permanent coach.
November will come along, rumors and leaks will start coming out that Herman and Fisher aren't coming. Ed will do just enough for Joe Alleva to justify keeping him. and in the end, LSU will end up retaining Orgeron after striking out with the big names.
and LSU fans will spin this hard. they will conveniently forget about how they were absolutely certain they were getting either Fisher or Herman. they will conveniently forget about or make excuses for Orgeron's tenure at Ole Miss. they will tell us how Orgeron has changed and how he is such an amazing head coach and how the rest of the SEC should watch out.
so, just watch. bump this thread at the end of November. lsu is too predictable and this situation is too easy to read. lsu didn't necessarily want to "get better", they just wanted a coach that isn't Les Miles. and now they have that.
but just get ready for the spin in 2 months when lsu permanently hires him and the fans tell us he's the greatest coach ever after striking out with Herman and Fisher.

cnn women > fox news women

the general presumption is that fnc has the hottest women on cable news, but cnn has been amassing some serious talent over the last few years, and has rightfully taken the crown. ana cabrera alone is hotter than anyone on fnc, and when you take the entire list into consideration, it becomes indisputable that cnn is now the talent leader.

i'll never understand why anyone older than five years of age would enjoy throwing their money away in what is nothing more than a glamorized set of malls.
daily passes to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom are around $100 for adults, sometimes more depending on the season. and for what, exactly? so you can stand in line for hours on end for a 70 second experience? oh, wait, so you can have the opportunity to spend MORE money on marked up merchandise and and mediocre food?
that's the hilarious part for these parks...they're malls, folks. sure, there area few legit rides in each, just enough to magnetize you into the park. but look around once you get in there. shops. restaurants. all marked up. all ripping you off. and people throw their money away at these places. they pay $20 for a cheeseburger, $4 for a bottle of water...$30 for some soft plush animal thing...and, oh yeah, this is all on top of the HUNDREDS of dollars you already spent just to get into the park. it's like paying a $100 fee just to walk through the door at your local mall, and once you get inside, everything is marked up significantly.
not only that, but disney has shown that they literally give zero fricks about the quality of their parks. epcot is a complete joke that hasn't been given a proper facelift in, well, never. the "around the world" 360 degree videos are antiquated as hell, featuring analog video that was literally recorded decades ago. anyone with a broadband connection could go to youtube and watch a more informative, better quality video for free. the ride inside the ball thing, again, is ancient and outdated as hell. but hey, there's a pretty good olive garden clone in the Italian pavilion. food isn't quite as good, and it's 40% more expensive, but good enough, right?
i just don't understand the appeal. grown adults throwing away hundreds just to get into parks, only to throw away more money on merchandise and food. and unless you have a fast pass (which allows you to ride a ride only once with less of a wait), you'll be spending hours standing in line for an experience that lasts less than a minute. and most of it is old and outdated (all of epcot, futureworld at MK, etc).
the mouse wants money, and doesn't give a shite about enhancing the state of the parks. need proof? disney just invested tens of millions of dollars, not into epcot, not into outdated sections of the MK, no, into a fricking retail mall, otherwise known now as "disney springs".
it's really just a terrible place.

LSU's inevitable collapse at the end of the season will be epic
Posted by demosa on 9/20/15 at 11:57 am
the set up will be amazing. 7-0, fournette the heisman leader, title hopes, etc.
but Alabama will stop the one trick pony show on offense, as will ole miss and a&m. Lsu will drop 3 of their last 4 and will be forgotten about quickly.
it amazes me that lsu fans think it will work all season, especially after last year.
as a side note, I do see ole miss going undefeated and winning the sec. They have the entire package.

note the upvote to downvote ratio.
they're finally understanding and accepting that mighty lsu is now an average sec program that needs last second missed field goals to survive against inferior opponents.
so much for this being their year. it's all we heard leading up to this season...that 2015 was theirs.
with les miles' utter inability to orchestrate a proper offense, I don't think lsu will ever reach Atlanta again under miles' tenure.

this is terrible.
lsu will never reach the level of our offense, at least not under Miles. that's a fact any rational lsu fan would admit.
with Chavis, though, our defense will now, at the least, rise to their level, and possibly even exceed it.
we are a much, much more complete team than lsu, and I think we really have become that monster type team that lsu put together from 03 to 07.

Texas A&M is now the team LSU used to be.

Chavis has made us the complete team.
remember lsu from 2003 - 2007? dynamic, balanced offenses with big play potential, coupled with fast, fierce, aggressive defenses.
a&m now embodies this. we are what lsu wants to be, and have become what they once were.
after last night, i don't know how lsu fans can honestly state that they're "happy" Chavis left.
he has already transformed us into a monster - the monster Lsu used to be.

able to spend past limit on credit card. what's going on?
Posted by demosa on 9/2/15 at 11:41 am
I have had a $750 limit on my platinum capital one credit card for years. I always make my payments on time, and usually pay it off in full every 3-4 months.
just recently i used my credit card when I meant to use my debit card, but surprisingly, the transaction went through. I called capital one and they said my limit was still 750, which I have never been able to exceed in the past. I made a few more purchases on the credit card, just to experiment, and now I am over $100 of what capital one tells me is my limit, yet I am still able to make purchases.
every time I call capital one, they tell me my limit is still 750. None of the transactions on my card are pending, I'm over the supposed limit, yet can still make purchases on the card.
does anyone know what's going on?

well, shite. sorry for the thread I guess.
it seems every time i come to this board there's a 10+ page thread about the next big comic book film, or a thread on a newly released comic film trailer filled with orgasm euphemisms.
apparently now everyone has highly sophisticated and selective tastes.

the movies coming out over the next 24 months...ridiculous
Posted by demosa on 8/28/15 at 10:00 am
are people aware of just how loaded the next 24 months will be? starting in december of this year with star wars, it's basically going to be a non-stop period over 24 months where every few months we will see the release of a major film(s) from a major franchise/IP.
starting later this year -
december 2015 - star wars episode VII
february 2016 - deadpool
march 2016 - batman vs superman
may 2016 - captain america: civil war, x-men:apocalypse
june 2016 - warcraft, independence day resurgence
july 2016 - star trek 3, bourne 5
august 2016 - suicide squad
november 2016 - doctor strange
december 2016 - star wars: rogue one
march 2017 - wolverine 2
may 2017 - guardians of the galaxy 2, star wars episode VIII
june 2017 - world war z 2, toy story 4, wonder woman
july 2017 - war of the planet of the apes
november 2017 - thor:ragnarok, justice league: part I
december 2017 - avatar 2
and this will most certainly continue into 2018, when we'll see avengers: infinity war part I, the flash, star wars: han solo, jurassic world 2, black panther, aquaman, new spider man, captain marvel, and avatar 3.
just insane.

re: 4k TVs are cheap. So where is all the 4k content?
Posted by demosa on 8/17/15 at 3:09 pm to WavinWilly
quote:
Bandwidth applies to all forms of transmission, be it IP based (internet) cable television, over the air transmissions, or Satellite transmissions.
This is a matter of physics and technology. There is only so much spectrum DirecTv has to play with. In addition to the regulatory limitations on the spectrum they have, they only have so many physical satellites in the sky, so there is a physical infrastructure capacity limit as well.
Coax has a limit to the bandwidth as well. You need to remember that Coax is carrying telephone, cable TV, and internet all on the same cable now. These all operate on different frequencies. To compound the issue, analog channels take more space than digital channels, hence the transitions all across the country to completely digital infrastructure. If you have charter or Cox in South LA you have probably already been transitioned to full digital. This is to free up more capacity for internet, and channels.
Infrastructure is a massive issue here and you can't just flip a switch and give 4k for everyone on every channel.
this is depressing. sounds like most people will still be watching 720p content 30 years from now.

why is everyone associating 4k content with internet connections?
why aren't dish or direct tv offering 4k content? why aren't Comcast, cox, or time Warner offering 4k content?
is coaxial not capable of delivering media in 4k?

in the market for a new hdtv, and after looking at the prices, 4k is pretty much a no brainier a this point. 40" 4k TVs are around $600, and 50" are around $900.
but where the hell is all the content? ESPN was so quick to jump on the 3d hype, which crash and burned as expected, but no word on when they'll ever start broadcasting in 4k. hell, most TV stations don't even broadcast in 1080p, which, in 2015, is actually quite disgusting.
4k blu ray is still non existent for consumers.
Netflix has a grand total of zero 4k movies. Amazon has like 20.
Given the affordable prices of 4k sets, and the incredibly slow adoption of 4k content, I'm starting to doubt whether 4k will ever become as prevalent as standard 720p content.
