There seems to be a huge disconnect as to what is actually happening in the hospital and what the public believes.

I am an anesthesiologist is Eugene OR where the vaccination rate is pretty high and we are still at a critical level as far as staffing and ICU patients. Our group is having to staff over flow ICU patients in the recovery room. Currently we are +16 patients and we are asked to staff 24 patients by the end of the week. That is 24 ICU patients above what the hospital normally staffs.

Contrary to popular opinion these are not just old people or unhealthy obese patients but predominantly previously healthy people under the age of 60 (many 25-50).

The numbers from our hospital/ lane county OR are about 94% of the admissions since April 1,2001 have been unvaccinated. Only 3% of hospitalized are fully vaccinated with partially vaccinated making up the rest.

Elective inpatient surgeries have all been put on hold. The ER’s are completely full as are the ICU. Only one cardiac bypass case can be done per day.

I say this not to scare anyone but to let people know what the reality is in my area and can only assume it is worse in areas that are less vaccinated.

Please consider vaccination if unvaccinated as the healthcare system is at critical capacity and affecting everyone with the drain of resources.
All of them have been older 60+ but one was previously healthy and active.
Only one with a positive test but others that have had radiologic and lab findings consistent with covid. Problem here like many other places is the lack of availability of testing and/or testing supplies.
Just an update from Eugene, OR. I work as an anesthesiologist and things are getting real. Have had a few deaths but nothing like more metropolitan areas like Seattle. Very sobering when we are making contingency plans on who gets care and who doesn’t if things get worse. Already high blood utilization surgeries like thoracic dissections will possibly not proceed because of the possibly need for blood. All electives surgeries have been cancelled and to compound things personal protective equipment ie masks and gowns are in very low supply.

Very surreal. Y’all be careful out there.

Thank you again Duke Williams for breaking our backup centers jaw before you left the team.
The Auburntigers.com shows radio only on the calendar of basketball games. Shows ESPN, etc when TV is available for other games(ie the upcoming game against Colorado)
As a D.O. and board certified anesthesiologist, I can say that the training is essentially the same in the first 2 years of book work with the exception of some additional training in manual manipulation. The third and 4th year rotations are more preceptor based (ie you shadow a physician) one on one, versus traditional medical schools which are primarily hospital based working with residents and attending physicians. Pro's and cons to each, but basically you get what you put into either. Out of the 50 members of our group, about 10 are D.O.'s. The thing to keep in mind is that all DO's or MD's must pass the same Specialty certification to be boarded in that specialty.

Sorry for the long post.

The show is pretty entertaining. You can listen to to live stream on the 730 ump app or the rebroadcast on iTunes pod cast for those out of the broadcast area.
Garmin has an online free site called garmin connect that will track and keep all your workouts. Very easy to use and nice to see weekly mileage totals, etc.

Recently upgraded from the forerunner 405 to the 220. 220 is nice because can sync to garmin connect app via Bluetooth. The 220 does not have swipe screen technology but buttons are very easy to use.

A very good site that reviews running/swimming gps devices is dc rainmaker.com

Good luck.
Your best bet would probably be to go to a local specialty running store and see what they recommend. Also runners world magazine has a good shoe buyers guide based on size, amount of running, stability needs etc..

I run in Mizuno wave runner's and have for the last 3-4 years. Put in 25-35 a week and up the mileage if training for a race.

Have run in asics, brooks, Nike in the past and have just found that these work for me.

Also if you find a pair that works for you, consider buying another pair and rotate them out since even the same show may change in feel from one year to the next.
