re: Do the teams with the most TV draw deserve a higher cut of the SEC revenue?
Posted by rebinmadison on 10/12/16 at 11:56 am
If you want to be the next Big 12 you can do it this way
SEC and B1G are making money and stable because they both figured out a long time ago everyone has to be an equal member
ABSOLUTELY.
The SEC, like the NFL, has revenue sharing. It keeps all the teams afloat, including teams with small markets and/or poor W-L. This is smart. Baseball like the Big 12 does not revenue share. Yet somehow the Brewers are able to compete and make the plyaoffs, right?
The real reason the Big 12 will fold is that Texas has a sweet TV deal and will not abandon it. OK are idiots not to bolt to Pac 12, etc. They lose money every year b/c Texas wants the money from the Longhorn Network.

re: Kyler transferring to the SEC question

NCAA transfer rules require a waiver from the school a player was attending. The waiver is not to be unreasonably withheld and it can be appealed to the NCAA if not given. Over the years it has been customary for some schools to wave to all, except its own conference or the West division of the SEC, etc.
The waiver only allows the player to obtain a scholarship at the school to which he transfers. There is still a one year no play rule. If a waiver is not given, the player can still go to any school but still has to sit out ONE year but cannot get a scholarship for that ONE year at the school.
There is NO two year wait. All this is NCAA rule.
There is also a Hardship rule for transfers which is very subjective, that allows immediate play.
