I believe LSU is undefeated on September 9th all time with a 5-0 record
I only went back to 1972 but the season didn’t begin until later before this.
1995: 34-16 over Mississippi State
2000: 28-13 over Houston
2006: 45-3 over Arizona
2017: 45-10 over Chattanooga
2023: 72-10 over Grambling
Can anyone verify these are the only games LSU has played on September 9th?

One of my favorite plays from the entire game was on Clemson’s first drive. On 2nd down they ran to the left and got stood up, Bernard Gooden wasn’t really part of the play as they ran away from him but when Randle got stood up Gooden came running across the field and Superman dove on top of the group of bodies to make sure Randle went down. He didn’t really effect the play but for a defensive lineman to show that kind of effort and energy was awesome to see.

I stated doing some research after reading other thread about one of DTL’s victims house being for sale. I remember hearing about it while it was happening but being a kid I was pretty naive to what was truly going on.
What was it like around Baton Rouge at that time? Were people really paranoid or was that exaggerated? Did any of you with a white pickup truck get strange looks? Any other interesting stories pertaining to DTL?

That is such a casual take. A 225LB freshman back averaging 5.3 YPC, showing decent hands, and a willingness to pass protect is definitely something to get excited about. Not to mention he showed some explosiveness in the return game. Did people allow their expectations to blow up a bit much? Yes. But to act like he didn’t have a promising freshman season is incorrect.
