re: Texas is one of the most overrated states to live in

10 years ago…sure. I moved here for work. Met a Texas girl, marriage with kids etc. We have rental assets and a house that is almost paid off in a very nice part of DFW. We are “pot committed” to use a poker term for staying in the state
Texas is such a broad state everyone can find what they are looking for. It is not a great outdoor state like say TN or FL. There is a good business environment and the schools for now are still strong in our ISD.
And thank god this state is not heavily Catholic. That is a huge upside in my book

That is an awesome last name even for the pedo-defenders crew.

That seems right of central casting for the stereotypical barista. Wow. He/she/whatever is too fat to see their own dick as well.
re: What do modern women bring to a relationships with men?
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/30/25 at 9:18 am
Marriage is awesome. It has made my life better in every single way possible.
We also get out what we put into our marriage. We both exercise, take time for ourselves as a couple, clearly communicate, take the time to be intentional with our time with kids etc. That all takes discipline .
A lot of the people who are bagging on marriage are either making no effort, gave up or have made horrible choices leading up to where they are (putting up with bullshite early in a relationship).

No. It was a shite movie
re: What's the best way to onboard new employees from a 50,000 foot view?
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/27/25 at 11:00 am
Totally dependent on field but in general…job aides/work instructions for basic tasks. Expectations document to track at 30/60/90 mark. Orientation buddy who has performance goals explicitly tied to training. Those are some of the things I used in engineering management
re: We all know pools are for suckers, how bout hot tubs?
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/26/25 at 9:42 pm
I’ve got one installed 2 years ago. It was well worth it. My kids are always outside in it )we have a heated pool/spa combo)
re: Have lived whole life in 50-mile radius or less for 80% or more of your life…

I’ve lived outside NOLA area half my life now. Been in FL or TX as a full time resident post-LSU.
It is hasn’t really changed my perspective. It is still the South. The only real difference is both states have real leadership and the corruption is way less compared to LA.

re: Most cardinals at the Vatican are gay, says Catholic academic

This does help explain the Catholic Church turning a blind eye to all the child molestation and protecting their own from accountability/ justice for victims.
re: Audubon Zoo vs Aquarium: which is better
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/23/25 at 3:21 pm
The aquarium sucks. Avoid. I took my kids there when we were in town a few weeks ago. I had not been since I was a kid. It is way over priced.
re: Chili’s CEO Breaks Down the Changes That Turned the Restaurant Around

There will be case studies for decades on what Chili’s has done for turn around.
Even me.who hates chain restaurants, has to give the food props. We can get two triple dippers for a family of 4 at a very reasonable price. It is not great food but it is great value.
We’ve been to the local one twice in last year.

re: How queer/lame is pickleball lol
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/23/25 at 7:07 am
Pickleball is good low stress exercise for me. I need some of that at almost 44. Any way to not become fat is good.
I play it with friends also. It keeps me being social outside of wife/kids. Double win for me on pickleball.

I am a program manager too. I’d hate having to do that wfh full time (I’m mainly onsite now). When I was in engineering management, I was hybrid. I do miss that setup but the PM bonus structure makes it worth my while to be on-site every day.
And to the douche OP, your trolling is lame. Every job is different and a one size fits all approach to people is bad leadership.

re: Pet peeves your spouse may have about you

My wife has this obesssion with people chewing with their mouth open and always points it out to our kids/me. I straight up will tell her she is wrong when she accuses me of it. It drives her nuts.

Adam Scott was always Derek from Step Brothers until “Severance” to me.
re: Do you think you could be someone's, the someone that got away?
Posted by CunningLinguist on 4/2/25 at 10:31 am
I know for sure I am for two women. Both situations came down to I never felt like accepting less than what I deserve for myself as a person. I ended it where some people would have stuck it out (both were how they treated me).
re: Was Theo the one reality personality to break the barrier and not be a loser??

Janinda Barrett was in a bunch of shite movies. Kit Hoover hosts Extra or something like that. She was S1 of Road Rules. Lots of people that are semi-famous came from Real World/Road Rules
