SFP: they were just following orders. This is covered by executive privilege. Plus, the statute of limitations has expired. And even if it hasn’t, it’s not a big deal.

In the OP’s example, was it necessary for the son to quit his job/career to care for the mom? If the mom lived an additional 13 years she couldn’t have been in that bad of shape at the beginning. Maybe as time passed.
