Am I only one that saw that?
Noot just hit 101 on radar….

Accurate?
re: For those who are older, was there a CWS LSU won with less talent than 2025 LSU?

Also I would say defensively this team is as good as any of our NC teams. You could pick apart position by position but this is a very strong defensive team. Especially in the infield when Braswell is at 3rd.

From a top to bottom pitching standpoint, this team is better than 93, 96, 97, 2000, 2009 and maybe 2023 which was extremely top heavy with Skenes.
From a lineup standpoint, I would say this team is on par with 96 and 2000, but the other teams had better hitting.
If these guys get it going at the right time, winning the national championship is very possible. If we don’t get the bats going, our pitching will take us far but not far enough.
Just my opinion.

re: Not a Joe Sloan hater, but wouldn't mind tweaking the OC position

In his first year as OC we have a QB that finished second in passing only to Joe Burrow in the history of LSU football. I will admit that I would like to see a better schemed running attack, but I think Sloan proved himself worthy this year. We have a gunslinger QB so it will be a pass first offense. I think, like any coach, Sloan will learn from this season and work to improve the running scheme. But man we have had some many OC’s that have not been close to Sloan level. The grass is not always greener on the other side. What we know is that he develops QB’s as good as anyone and really, what more do you want. I still remember when our starting QB was a Harvard transfer. We have a Heisman winner and a legit Heisman candidate next year under Sloan’s tutelage.

I get the OP’s point. TT was a guy who was not that heavily recruited and all of a sudden grew into his body and it was awesome to watch!! We don’t go to final four without him. He was definitely a freak! Best athlete ever is a stretch, but his athleticism was insane to watch that one season!
re: Where’s the idea that Brian Kelly is “un-likeable” come from?

He’s Kalen Deboer in that regard. Great at D2 or whatever the frick but nothing to show where it actually matters.
So if you were AD, you would fire Kelly? If so who would you want to hire that will definitely do better over the next 3-4 years. Keep in mind the new coach will likely want to bring in his staff and we would lose several recruits and current players to transfer portal. All I ever hear on this board is bitching, but I have not heard one suggestion that viably makes LSU football any better going forward. Or at least I have not heard any intelligent suggestions.

He’s got the ego of an all time great coach but he has nothing to show for it.
I mean isn’t he the winningest active coach in college football? Or at least one of the winningest? He has some skins on the wall. More than most.

I have never met the man, but I know a few people who have pretty regular interactions with him. They all say behind the scenes he is actually a really cool, down to earth guy. Only thing ranters see is press conferences and sideline interactions with players. Not many on this board really have ever met or had a conversation with him. Apparently he is really cool in that situation. I think people who don’t like players getting yelled at have never played tackle football beyond elementary school.

I just rooted for whomever was on offense! And I was happy all night!

Well said! What it is all about!
What a game so far!

I am nervous as hell, but appreciate that these guys have gotten to this part of the season where we get nervous! Let’s Geaux!

re: Hate McMahon all you want…if you can’t see the improvement you’re blind
Posted by RR083 on 2/7/24 at 11:46 pm
If the argument is that we should not have fired Wade, can’t say I disagree. But hating McMahon because you are mad at firing Wade is pointless. It’s ok to be pissed about firing Wade and also seeing that McMahon is actually a good basketball coach that has things going in a pretty good direction. But McMahon just isn’t as fun and he doesn’t have to be.
re: Nate Yeskie will be an upgrade over Wes Johnson
Posted by RR083 on 2/7/24 at 11:39 pm
They are both great coaches. Yeskie will be a head coach next year. Jay Johnson is why LSU will be a contender every season he is here. We will always have great pitching coaches and it will be high turnover because they will win and move on. But the talent will remain constant.
re: How many more seasons Woody is gonna put up with this shite show basketball coach?

Hopefully Woodward is more patient than the OP. Takes some time to establish a culture. Right now we see a team that hustles and plays good defense and fights until the end. The wanted Coach K out at Duke after his third year but the AD stuck with him and he eventually turned Duke into a dynasty. Not saying McMahon is in Coach K’s ballpark, but as long as the program is trending in a good direction, I hope he sticks with him. I don’t think any trainable person could think any coach would be winning this soon with what he had to work with. I understand the anger of firing Wade. I didn’t like that either. But that doesn’t mean you don’t give the next guy a chance to build his program. He started from scratch. I like a lot of what is being instilled in his team. He deserves at least two more years in my opinion. If it isn’t going anywhere then I think it would be time to move on.
re: Does he get his statue now?
Posted by RR083 on 1/10/24 at 4:32 pm
In my opinion if you won a NC or the Heisman while at LSU, you deserve a statue. So yes, Saban, Miles, Orgeron, Burrow and Daniels should all have statues outside of Tiger Stadium at some point.
Also think if you won Golden Spikes or coached NC in baseball you should have one there, so Crews and Johnson should get one for this past season.

re: Got to admit I was wrong about MM
Posted by RR083 on 1/9/24 at 11:23 pm
It starts with effort. They are giving that. Then there is defense, and they are showing they can do that. We are very good at stealing the ball, which is something we have not seen in a while. Offensively, we are below average. Would love to see better sets on offense. We are trying to play fast paced on offense and that is leading to some ill-advised shots. But if you are building around grit and defense, you can do a lot of good things. We will struggle offensively this year against good talent but effort and defense will keep us in some games. Overall, this is a program trending up. Would love to see more fan and institutional support for these guys. They are a gritty group of players.
re: What percentage of the blame do you put on the players ability vs the coaching staff?

“If Kelly's name was Orgeron, without such a contract, he would have already been fired.
Slick talking Carpertbagger.”
This is just moronic. He is 20-6 after taking over a program that had less than half a college roster. In two years, he has won the West and produced a Heisman trophy winner. You must just be a miserable POS.
