I think it's great you are basically taking what he did at some Mid Major as proof he will be great head coach at a big school. He coached 1 year at Oklahoma St. He hasn't had to play with his recruits. I just don't see how you can spin this into "he's a great coach" simply because of a winning percentage over 4 years, only 1 of which was with a big program.

Fair. But when I consider his time at Stef F Austin, a combined record of 89-14 with pretty much nobody...for me, his coaching doesn't come into question. Every year at Stef F he returned a top 10 national winning percentage. Top 10 out of 350 something schools 3 years in a row. Then he takes a bad Ok St team and returns 20 wins in his first year. I'm not going to say that I'm certain this guy is going to be great, but I certainly like his odds. Consider this: He's 4-4 in years making the tournament. Cuonzo is 2-9. If I'm choosing a coach, I'm taking a risk in the guy that is 4-4. Sure there are questions about his recruiting, but his coaching record speaks for itself. Taking risks are part of being successful. Choosing the safe pick pretty much will get you what you're looking for, most often average results.

Brad Underwood is a better hirer than Cuonzo Martin. And also a more exciting brand of basketball. All I'm saying.

Ok buddy

2 rd 32's in 4 years > 1 s16 9 years. That's just the truth.

Underwood made the rd 32 twice with a non-major team where Cuonzo only did it once because to his luck, Mercer beat Duke.

Totally lost the coaching search

Obvious safe hire from Jim Sterk in Cuonzo Martin. Sounds like Clownzo.

-Bottom Half league % 3s
-Bottom Half league in pace
-Bottom Half league in points
-.600 career record
-Made s16 once in 9 years coaching
-No way you can rate this hire better than a B, and that is with the Porters

Brad Underwood

-Middle league % 3s
-Top half league in pace
-Ranked 5th in ppg this year
-.800 career record
-Made round 32 2x in four years of coaching

Signed Cuonzo for the same contract price plus extra year compared with Brad Underwood??? Obvious loss in the coaching search, and if Illinois actually went after Cuonzo, they are delighted they didn't get him. Can't be hard to recruit when you're the state school of California. Cuonzo is going to bring a style of basketball more boring than Anderson. I thought Anderson was going to be a good hire but I also watched the guy win a national championship. If you like good ole boring 9-9 sometimes 11-7 basketball, this is your guy. I don't see how going 9-9 being bored out of mind is going to be any better than what we have now. Oh well.

Missouri St will likely finish ranked higher than Missouri for the first time since 06-07 in the KenPom rankings.

Anyone remember that team with Blake Ahearn and Deven Mitchell? I was too young to remember.

Alize Johnson just won MVC newcomer of the week for the fifth time LINK

Kims championship team was more talented.
There's no reason for me to believe they'll be better than last year. I'll go with 3-15 SEC. 9-21 Overall.

SEC wins are LSU at home, Ole Miss at home, and Alabama at home.

CVL can shoot and play defense. Something most these kids can't.
Like 808 said, it probably doesn't make a difference. I'd just like to see it happen so that I can feel like we are moving on. The fact that Kevin Puryear, arguably MU's best player, is statistically worse this year than last is telling.

Struggling against NC Central

24-20 at the half. Seems like they have no idea how to put the ball on the floor. No excuse for nonconference losses outside of Arizona and Illinois. I'll be boarding the fire KA train with a loss here.

Looked pretty good. Still gotta clean some things up a bit. Hard to tell how well they're playing against these lesser teams.
Frankie Hughes is cold.

Well, were competitive. Woods looks to be day vs night better than last year. Only reason he used to see the floor was for size.

Gonna be a good second half.

I'll also wait for the Xavier game. Assuming we can keep it within 10, I think we have a shot at .500. SEC looks to be down this year as well.
