"I am that ham"...I've never seen anyone at a mizzou game do that
Ok...bad post on my part...i get that. I was just trying to make a broader point that there are some historic ties to the south. But the bigger point is none of that matters now, we are in the SEC and we don't seen to be hurting or bringing down the SEC. Again, sorry for my dumb frick post...didn't really come across the way I meant
This whole idea of do we belong or not is kind of funny. I will be the first to admit, I think Missouri has changed a lot...but please don't base Missour's culture on Columbia...that place is yankee central for the state. Get out in rural MO and there is a total different feel. As far as the comment about bunch of Obama lovers...you do know that MO is a very conservative state outside of Columbia, STL, and KC right?...we have some of the most gun friendly laws in the country.

As for historical ties...hell, my family fought for the south, owned slaves, etc...am I Midwestern or southern...don't really care/doesn't really matter. On the other hand, pretty sure the confederate flag has 13 stars on it...Missouri is represented by one of those stars...just sayin'

I've been following threads on here for awhile but I finally have to post. Missouri was definitely split....in the area I'm from people would be offended to be called yankees. A lot of families in the area have ancestors who fought for the south (myself included), there was a large slave population, and our county flag (Callaway County)is the confederate flag (with a slight color change). Up until a few years ago we had a weekend long town celebration to commemorate when we seceded from the union.

But, times they are a changing...I would call Columbia, which is very different than the rural areas of the state, Yankee, but, like a lot of college towns, a lot of people in columbia aren't actually from missouri or if they are they are from stl or kc so columbia has a different vibe.
