I fully expected a Six Feet Under type of ending with a montage showing the final moments of life for everyone eventually ending in the train. Glad they didn't.

The women’s lacrosse team at Delaware State University, a historically Black university, was heading home last month after it played three games in Florida when Georgia authorities interrupted their journey — with a drug-sniffing dog.
Liberty County sheriff’s deputies pulled the bus over, citing a traffic violation, and then entered the vehicle to inform the team that their luggage would be searched for narcotics. One deputy, speaking to the students before the search, emphasized that marijuana is illegal in Georgia for recreational use.

A member of the religious group reported the death to the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. The member said the group had his 2-year-old son and wouldn’t let the boy leave.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and found a mummified body wrapped in a sleeping bag inside the home in the Casita Park subdivision. A sergeant searching the home said the remains were decorated with Christmas tree lights, set up in “some kind of shrine” with glitter makeup around the deceased person’s eyes.
The man who tipped off investigators about the remains said he believed Love Has Won members drove the body from California to Colorado. In court documents, the sheriff’s office says they have received many complaints from families who claim the group is “brainwashing people and stealing their money.”
During the search, investigators found the two-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl sleeping inside the home. Authorities arrested seven people at the home, later identified as Ryan Kramer, Christopher Royer, Sarah Rudolph, Karin Raymond, Jason Castillo, John Robertson and Obdulia Franco. They were arrested and booked at the Rio Grande County Jail in Del Norte, each charged with abuse of a corpse and two counts of child abuse.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will conduct an autopsy of the human remains to provide an official identification along with the cause and manner of death.

ATLANTA - Protests erupted on University Avenue overnight after an officer-involved shooting landed a man, who protestors say is black, in the hospital. The GBI is now investigating and said the man died after undergoing surgery.
Atlanta police units initially responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious person at Wendy's around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found a man asleep in his car, parked in the drive-thru lane and blocking customers, according to GBI.
They reportedly conducted a sobriety test, but when they attempted to arrest the man, identified as 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, a struggle ensued.
Deputy Chief Timothy Peek, with Atlanta police, described officers' numerous attempts to deploy Tasers.
"Ultimately, when the officer used the Taser, it was ineffective for the suspect," Peek said. "It did not stop the aggression of the fight."
Peek added preliminary information shows Brooks was able to take an officer's Taser from him and use it against the officers.

Rowan Baxter, 42, formerly with the New Zealand Warriors, allegedly filled up a gas can Wednesday morning before dousing the car with his wife, Hannah, and young children inside and torching it in Brisbane, Australian outlet 9News reported.
His 31-year-old wife jumped from the car and shouted, “He’s poured petrol on me,” ABC Australia reported. She was rushed with serious burns to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Baxter also got out of the burning vehicle, but died at the scene from a self-inflicted stab wound, authorities said.
Police discovered the bodies of his children — ages 6, 4 and 3 — inside the vehicle.

The former “Teen Mom” star who’s dabbled in adult films said her “vajayjay’s looking better than ever” since undergoing vaginal rejuvenation in December. “Oh, my God! We did it live on Instagram!” she said proudly, adding that the procedure, courtesy of Dr. Rahi in Beverly Hills, was noninvasive.
Despite some nerves, Farrah said she was “laughing and numb. It was fine. And the recovery was like a week. My vagina doesn’t miss anything that she cut, so I’m like, ‘Hey, okay! It’s like a divorce!'”
When asked if she’s put her new lady parts to use, she laughed uncomfortably and said, “I don’t date right now,” adding, “I don’t know if my vagina’s ready to date, really. I mean, it’s like tight, it’s tight. I’m scared. I’m scared to use it! Don’t break it!”
“I definitely think it’s like a reborn virgin situation,” she said with a laugh.

Polyamorous Florida woman with 4 boyfriends is pregnant

A polyamorous woman in Florida with four partners is pregnant, and says despite sharing her bed with her many lovers, she’s certain of who the father is.
Tory Ojeda, 20, lives with three of her four partners in their Jacksonville, Fla., home. Marc, Travis, Ethan and Christopher take turns spending time with Ojeda, “swapping in and out” of her bed each night, she tells Barcroft Media.
The household’s love story began three years ago when Ojeda met Marc, 18, in high school. Two months later, she opened things up with Travis, 23 — to whom she is now engaged. Later, she brought Ethan, 22, and Christopher, 22, into the fold.
And despite her plans to get married to Travis, Ojeda said he’s not the father of her baby girl, due in February.
“Chris is the biological father,” she says. “We just know that because of timing and when the approximate conception date was. Based off of the approximate conception day, we had been on vacation. So it was only us.”
But for the soon-to-be family of six, those are just minor details.
“We’re all raising the baby together — so everyone’s Dad,” Ojeda says. “We’re all very, very excited to be raising a baby together.”
It won’t be without its complications, though. The group says they’ve dealt with bouts of jealousy over the years. It was especially hard for Marc and Travis to accept newcomers Ethan and Christopher at first. But Ethan says they talked it out and are all on good terms now.
And there’s the matter of sharing: Ojeda says it gets pretty exhausting having to please four different men under the same roof. She’s actually encouraged her boyfriends to pursue other love interests.

Isaiah Thomas goes into Philly crowd when fan curses at him after being denied free Frosty

quote:
PHILADELPHIA — After entering the Wells Fargo Center stands Saturday night to confront a Philadelphia 76ers fan, Washington Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas was confident he was in the right — and it was all over a free fast-food dessert treat.
“The league knows: I did nothing wrong,” Thomas said in lengthy comments to reporters after being ejected from the Wizards’ 125-108 loss. “There just should be a respect factor [with fans]. Like, I’m not going to go to anybody else’s job and call you out of your name, no matter how mad I make you. I don’t even know how I can make you that mad when we were down 15. We lost the game. That’s all I’m saying. I’m a man before anything, and that just wasn’t okay to do — and I just had to say something.”
The league has rules against a player “deliberately” entering the stands, which is why Thomas was ejected. But the guard believes the NBA would understand his perspective and not issue a suspension.
Thomas said a male fan held up both middle fingers and made a “disrespectful” comment — because Thomas did not provide the crowd with free dessert.
During the second half of 76ers home games, when an opposing player misses two consecutive free throw attempts, fans receive a small Frosty from Wendy’s. Thomas, on a late trip to the line, split a pair of free throws — spoiling the promotion. As he turned around to head to the defensive end, he noticed a fan standing in Section 120, showing him both middle fingers and directing an insult at him.
The Wizards called a timeout with 2:53 remaining, and Thomas left the court to confront the fan, who was wearing a red Ben Simmons jersey.
“I’m never going be disrespected in any way. My dad told me at a young age: Anybody call you out of your name — it doesn’t matter where I am, that’s not going to happen,” Thomas said. “When I missed the first free throw and made the second, I’m running back, and the fan has both of his middle fingers up and said, ‘F--- you, b----!’ three times. So then the timeout goes, and I go in the stands to confront him.
“I say: ‘Don’t be disrespectful. I’m a man before anything and be a fan,’?” Thomas continued. “And his response was: ‘I’m sorry. I just wanted a Frosty.’?”
While Thomas explained the incident to reporters in detail, he spoke in a calm tone — just as he said he did while addressing the fan in the heat of the moment.
“I didn’t scare nobody. I didn’t even use a curse word,” he said. “So when the league investigates, I’m going to tell them the exact same thing — and hopefully they should understand it.”
Wizards Coach Scott Brooks said he was not aware what provoked Thomas to enter the stands.
“You don’t know what happened, but there’s no reason to go into the stands,” he said. “Maybe there’s one [reason], but I’ll keep that between me and myself. .?.?. But, no, I don’t know what happened.”
Banned Jazz fan sues team, Russell Westbrook

The Utah Jazz fan permanently banned from Vivint Smart Home Arena following a verbal confrontation with Russell Westbrook during a game there last season is suing the team and the point guard.
In the lawsuit filed Monday, a copy of which was obtained by The Salt Lake Tribune, Shane Keisel claims that language he and his girlfriend, Jennifer Huff, used toward Westbrook was "the same kind and caliber as that of the other audience members in the section" -- and not racist and derogatory, as the then-Oklahoma City Thunder star alleged at the time.
Keisel and Huff are seeking $100 million in damages on claims of defamation and emotional distress, per the lawsuit obtained by the Tribune.
The incident in question occurred in March.
After an OKC win, video of Westbrook saying, "I'll f--- you up" to Keisel and Huff while standing near the end of the Thunder bench went viral. Westbrook said it was an emotional reaction to Keisel telling him, "Get on your knees like you're used to," a comment Westbrook considered "completely disrespectful" and "racial."
Keisel claimed at the time that he told Westbrook to "ice those knees up," and in Monday's lawsuit, he reiterated that what he said to Westbrook, now a member of the Rockets, was mischaracterized. He added that his family has been harassed and that he has lost work since the incident.
The Jazz banned Keisel permanently in March. The NBA fined Westbrook $25,000 "for directing profanity and threatening language to a fan."
"The organization investigated the underlying incident and acted in an appropriate and responsible manner," Frank Zang, senior vice president of communications for Larry H. Miller Sports and Entertainment, told the Tribune. "We intend to vigorously defend the lawsuit."

NBA's "Play For Justice"
quote:
The Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks will be the first NBA teams to participate in basketball games at correctional facilities organized by the Represent Justice Campaign, The Undefeated has learned. Starting this month, NBA players and coaches will serve as honorary coaches in the campaign’s Play For Justice initiative, which will also include facilitated conversations with incarcerated individuals.
The Kings will host the first Play For Justice event at a renovated outdoor court on Thursday evening at an undisclosed prison in Northern California. The Bucks will host an event later this month and together, the Bucks and Kings will host an event in Milwaukee on February 10. Further participation from other NBA teams is expected to be announced in 2020. The campaign’s goal is to highlight stories of hope and redemption, as well as break down stigmas associated with individuals — primarily people of color and the poor — impacted by the criminal justice system.
“We’re proud to be the first participant in the Play for Justice initiative, which is shining a bright light on the unique issues facing incarcerated people in communities around the country,” said Vivek Ranadivé, chairman, CEO and governor of the Kings. “Sports franchises have a unique opportunity to bring about positive change, which is why in the past year, the Kings and the Bucks brought together leaders from across two cities to share best practices and find new solutions to social injustices. This collaboration with Represent Justice is another example of how we can use our platforms for good.”
Kings forward Trevor Ariza and player development coach Rico Hines are expected to take part in Thursday’s sit-down conversation with incarcerated people and formerly incarcerated surrogates of the Represent Justice Campaign, including Adnan Khan, who was released from prison after serving 16 years for a felony murder conviction that was overturned in January. After the discussion, Ariza and Hines will serve as honorary coaches during a basketball game with the roundtable participants in front of approximately 500 residents. Kings head coach Luke Walton is also expected to play.
Actress and Sacramento native Brie Larson–star of the upcoming movie, Just Mercy, which is based on Bryan Stevenson’s best-selling book about the case of Walter McMillian, who was convicted and sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit–and cast will participate in future Play For Justice initiatives. The Bucks are slated to host five screenings of the film, which also features actors Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx, in January and February for nonprofits to attend.
At the Bucks’ upcoming Represent Justice event to be played indoors in Wisconsin, Nike plans to donate sneakers to the basketball game for the incarcerated players and other participants. The sneakers and clothing will be mailed to the incarcerated players’ families, who will be able to attend the event, since the residents cannot keep the articles while imprisoned. Bucks guards Sterling Brown and George Hill will be in attendance.
“My teammates, coaches and I are honored to take part in this unique criminal justice initiative to hear the stories of our community members and the challenges they face on a daily basis,” said Brown, who currently has a civil suit against the city of Milwaukee after its cops used a stun gun on him and arrested him on Jan. 26, 2018, for double-parking in a handicapped-accessible spot at a Walgreens. “We are looking forward to sharing in this experience with them while also identifying how we can further this important conversation nationwide through basketball.”

This Parking Lot Is Turned Into A Safe Haven For The Homeless

Homelessness is an issue that has always been prominent in our world. Many people don’t have a home because of an illness or because they lost their job. They have bad health and can’t start working, because of that they can’t pay for a doctor, so it’s a neverending loop.
Homeless people don’t have anywhere to go, so they sleep on the streets, covering themselves with newspapers or cardboard boxes, rummaging through the trash cans to find some food or warmer clothes.
This charity decided to help these unlucky people.
Seeing these horrible ‘living’ conditions, the Australian charity Beddown decided to help these people in need. They came up with an amazing idea to make shelters in places that are vacant at night – like parking lots! The organization asked one of the largest car park operators, Secure Parking, and they agreed to launch a two-week trial in Brisbane.

quote:
Here are some initial statistics after the first pilots and trials:
41 guests used Beddown over the duration of the pilot.
77% of them were male and 23% were female.
The guests rated the sleep 4.5 out of 5 and the beds 4.5 out of 5 on average.
100% of the guests said they felt safe during their stay.
Due to overcapacity, 9 people were turned away in one night.
The youngest person who tried to access Beddown was just 15 years old.

Rapper YG, a staunch critic of the president, kicked a fan out of his performance after he refused to say "(expletive) Donald Trump," video shows.
In NSFW videos obtained by fans at the Mala Luna music festival in San Antonio on Saturday, the 29-year-old rapper is shown bringing an audience member onstage.
"Listen, I spotted you out in the crowd, I asked you if you (expletive) with Donald Trump and you said you don't know," he told the audience member. "So since you don't know, I need you to make up your mind tonight. I need you to say your name – because I want your mama, your daddy, your grandmama, your grandfather watching – I want you to state your name and give a '(expletive) Donald Trump.' "
The fan is shown shaking his head.
"No, you won't?" YG asked as fans began booing, before pushing the fan toward the stage exit. "Get his (expletive) out of here. Get him off stage... He's a Donald Trump supporter, get his (expletive) out of here."
The audience member can be seen exiting off the side of the stage, escorted by a security guard. YG turned to fans, wondering why someone who supported Trump would come to a show he was headlining.
"Don't let his (expletive) back in the crowd," he concluded. "Tell him YG said so."
