You needed the last few minutes of the game and referee incompetence to beat our backups at home, congrats.
I guess we're counting moral victories now. The last few minutes of the game? Really? Last I heard they play all 60 minutes in college.

It really bothers me when people characterize the Vanderbilt fanbase as apathetic. Not that it's happened in this thread, but I've seen it said fairly often, and it's just not true.
Vanderbilt has 127,000 living alumni, 21,000 of whom live in Nashville. For comparison, Georgia has 280,000 living alumni. Alabama? 340,000, and I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of them live within driving distance of Tuscaloosa. It's pretty unrealistic to expect Vanderbilt to sellout home games when there aren't even enough fans in Nashville to fill the stadium.
We also don't have the endemic fanbase which comes with being a large state school. That's fine. Vanderbilt is different from the rest of the SEC, and believe me, I'm glad of that. I also understand that money talks. It's just frustrating to have a system in which postseason berths are based on something other than what happens on the field. Especially when the Vanderbilt alumni scattered across the world are far more likely to travel for a bowl game.

It's probably due to my geographic bias, but I wasn't surprised by Rutgers. Anyone from the New York metro area who follows college football remembers that Rutgers was great a few years ago during the era of Greg Schiano, Ray Rice, Kenny Britt, and Tiquan Underwood.

Best case scenario for Vandy is that we beat UT, win our bowl game, and finish with the same record as last year but with an arguably better resume. This season looked like a disappointment until a few weeks ago, but this Vandy team is one last-minute mistake against Ole Miss from a potential 10 win season. I think 2013 is a wash at worst.

Current Vanderbilt QB Patton Robinette will be a RS sophomore in 2014. Four star recruit Johnny McCrary will be a RS freshman and challenge him for the starting job. Four star recruit KJ Carta-Samuels, younger brother of departing senior QB Austyn Carta-Samuels, will redshirt.

They sent out a survey in September asking what stadium improvements we'd like to see. There were questions about concessions, concourses, bathrooms, box seats, etc. I would imagine that they're still looking at their options, taking into consideration cost and the survey results.
