I've heard bars changing their names all the time has something to do with evading taxes...or something like that. Anyone else heard this before?

If you're using an Apple product (iPhone, iPad, etc.), it will cast the specific application you choose to cast from. For example, open Netflix, start casting to the TV. The TV will just say "Netflix" or something until you actually pick a movie, then the movie will start playing on your TV. Once the movie's playing, you can exit out of Netflix and do what you want on your iPad. Anything other than Netflix won't be cast to the TV until you choose to cast from a different application. (ex: YouTube)
If you want to cast whatever's on your screen, you'll have to cast using a tab in the Chrome browser. Not sure what "non-approved" videos will cast. A friend tried streaming an Amazon movie through a Chrome tab and casting the tab to his TV a few months back, but was never able to get the movie to play on his TV. Haven't checked if that works now or not.
No clue about using a Chromecast with Android products.

re: if Anonymous is as badass as they think they are...

It's...uh...it's not a group of people like you think it is. It's anyone. There aren't membership fees or anything. Want to tell "anonymous" to shut down NK? Rile up some internet folk to do some hacking and see what happens. There's not a leader of Anonymous or anything. That's the whole point.

Nothing in this but worship of Christ
Tell that to the stores that rake in all the money during the holidays. If we were bombarded by Chanukah commercials and music for a full 2 months, I bet a lot more people would celebrate Chanukah. There's a serious glorification of buying presents during this time of year. I don't really have a dog in the fight, but it's pretty obvious why people celebrate a Christian holiday even if they're not Christian.

The exact origin of the single letter X for Christ cannot be pinpointed with certainty. Some claim that it began in the first century AD along with the other symbols, but evidence is lacking. Others think that it came into widespread use by the thirteenth century along with many other abbreviations and symbols for Christianity and various Christian ideas that were popular in the Middle Ages. However, again, the evidence is sparse.
In any case, by the fifteenth century Xmas emerged as a widely used symbol for Christmas. In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press with moveable type. In the early days of printing typesetting was done by hand and was very tedious and expensive. As a result, abbreviations were common. In religious publications, the church began to use the abbreviation C, or simply X, for the word "Christ" to cut down on the cost of the books and pamphlets. From there, the abbreviation moved into general use in newspapers and other publications, and "Xmas" became an accepted way of printing "Christmas" (along with the abbreviations Xian and Xianity). Even Webster’s dictionary acknowledges that the abbreviation Xmas was in common use by the middle of the sixteenth century.
Don't waste your time being offended by silly things like "Xmas". There's no reason for it. I could maybe understand if you were offended by the commercialization of Christmas.

Go look in the Arts and Crafts section in Walmart. Buy stuff that isn't covered in ponies and princesses. Check out the stuff at this link. It's already sorted for 5-11 year old kids, $15 or less.

I know a group of people that brought a cake to Galatoire's in Baton Rouge. They didn't have any issues with it.

I had an internship at an O&G HQ. All interns were hair tested, including accounting and IT. From talking to interns at other O&G companies, this seemed pretty standard. Not sure about other industries.

re: Tell me about The Woodlands, tx
Posted by White Russian on 9/17/14 at 11:18 pm
Lived there over the summer. Great place to raise a family from what I could tell. Everyone I met there had nothing but good things to say about their neighbors; good communities and whatnot. Lots of parks, >160 miles of paved walkways, a good bit of active people.
In my opinion, it seemed to be lacking a definite culture though. The only time I got a somewhat "local vibe" was eating at Crust off of Gosling(which I highly recommend). Other than that, it felt very...I don't know...forced? It's a young city, and I'm sure it will come into it's own soon enough. The more local restaurants and shops that open up, the better. Also, the first generation of kids raised in The Woodlands should be raising their own kids now. That'll help hopefully.
I'll be working in The Woodlands full-time next year, but I plan on commuting from Midtown. It might just be my age, but I didn't feel like The Woodlands was right for me quite yet. Beautiful area though! If you like good looking houses and expensive cars, you'll have your fill. The locals are extremely nice as well.
