Rats on outside patio

Posted by Yung_Humma on 3/17/25 at 5:12 pm
Have rats that look like they are running along the bottom of the walls outside on the patio. Have found poop, urine, and eaten acorns along the walls. I can’t find any evidence that they have gotten inside the house.

What would y’all do to get rid of them?

At a different house they were getting in a shed and I was able to put out a bunch of the big plastic spring loaded traps with the teeth on them to kill a few then they left. But I am nervous to just put those outside and catch something bigger like a raccoon or neighborhood cat. I cut some holes in cardboard boxes and put traps in there but haven’t been able to catch anything.

Any ideas?

The Good: did all of my workouts

The Ok: did not stretch as much as I wanted to

The Absolutely Terrible: My diet. Going to sit down and make a plan to implement the steps from atomic habits and see how that goes.

Thanks just bought some
Haven’t run in a long time. Will be doing couch to 5k to get back at it. Looking forward to reading what actual runners are doing.
We still using this one for 2025?

I’ve been posting off and on in here for way too long. Last time looks to be last june. Time to try again.

There's plywood across the space in the attic. Would have to drill to see anything.
Had posted this about a year ago but forgot to mention that I have a ventless fireplace so all of the suggestions were about checking the chimney. There is no chimney.

We have a wet mildew type smell coming from our ventless fireplace in our house. I finally got around to drilling a hole in the sheetrock and pushing a camera through. The metal casing of the fireplace is covered in condensation. Think of what happens when cold metal is outside in Louisiana. Some of the wood studs around it look like they may have some beads of condensation as well. Makes sense since the front of the unit is exposed to the a/c of the house, then this metal casing is just sitting in stagnant humid air as this is just a triangular dead space enclosed by the living room, a bedroom, and an outside wall.

I don't see any glaring patches of mold or anything, but the camera I have is cheap and I can only manipulate it so much.

Questions,

Is this condensation typical for these ventless fireplaces?
I'm assuming this is what is causing the smell?
Should I drill other holes to continue to investigate or hire someone like guaranty restoration to come take a look?
Anyone know of fixes?

Please ask for more info and thanks for all of the help.

Too Late to Kill Common Lespedeza

Posted by Yung_Humma on 7/4/24 at 10:34 pm
Is it too late in the summer to try to kill Common Lespedeza? It is all over my yard. I see a few threads about what to use to kill it but then see that those have a temperature limit around 90 F.
I've got an enclosed area in my house that has a musky mildew mold type smell coming from it and I want to see what it looks like without tearing out a huge chunk of wall. Am I looking for a endoscope?
Here we are again. Difference this time is I've been consistently working out.

Help With ID'ing Grass or Weeds

Posted by Yung_Humma on 5/29/24 at 7:53 pm
I finally have the time to maintain a schedule for my yard. Moved in recently and the previous owners definitely didn't take care of the yard so I suspect the backyard is mainly weeds with possibly some hope for the front and side yards. Just seems like different grass everywhere. Hoping y'all can help me ID what I have so then I can find the right schedule for it.

I realized how bad most of the pictures I took were when I went to post them here, so just let me know if they are worthless and what type of pictures I should take that would actually be helpful.

Here's a link to the gallery because the images seem very pixelated in the preview LINK

Currently have a squat rack, enough plate weights, adjustable dumbbells, some kettle bells, stationary bike.

Have some free money, what would you get next?
Current ideas are dip attachment for the rack, some sort of lat pull down attachment for a rack, possibly a rowing machine.

Any thoughts on what I'm missing?
The dumbest version of this is when I had a 4 hour red eye flight and I thought I’d be able to sleep. Wrong. Was woken up constantly by the flight attendants going up and down the aisle to give people snacks and drinks. Do you really need to be eating at 3am?

Biomarkers Goals Cheat Sheet

Posted by Yung_Humma on 9/26/23 at 6:53 pm
Anyone put together a cheat sheet for goals for different biomarkers from bloods tests or other similar testing? Blood glucose, cholesterol, liver enzymes etc

Would love to steal it from y’all to set some goals for myself.
Should probably get it checked out. Someone I know had to be in a hard cast from their wrist all of the way up to their shoulder for 6 weeks.
Update. New house for us so really wasn’t paying attention when I first posted. There actually isn’t a chimney or any sort of vent out of the house. It’s just one of those unvented heaters that looks like a fireplace. All I can think is maybe it’s really dirty

Musty Smell Coming From Gas Fireplace

Posted by Yung_Humma on 8/24/23 at 4:11 pm
Hi everyone, for the past couple of months I’ve been trying to figure out where a musty smell has been coming from in the living room. Smells like an old couch that may have had something spilled on it. Would come and go but we could never figure out what it was. Finally got determined to figure it out and found that it’s coming from the gas fire place opening. It’s not natural gas smell. Any thought on how to get rid of it or what to check for?
