I'll always remember him going into Usain Bolt mode with that blocked kick from the SECCG. For that moment I thought...damn....we're going to win this.
I planned on making the four mile run to the Chapel Bell after that play because I was sure we'd win. :banghead:

How many times are we going to have a QB come through who starts 4 years, beats our rivals, and breaks every major SEC passing record along the way? If you're going to knock the guy for anything, his performance against top 25 opponents is a better argument than his lack of winning an SECCG/MNC.
Either way, I agree with the previous post that if Pollack's number didn't get retired, AM has no shot at that honor.

And for the team to be renamed the Fighting Aaron Murrays, naturally. I just figured a guy who rewrote record books at a fairly important position in a really good conference would get some sort of honor.

AM is the most prolific quarterback in SEC history and a fantastic representative of the University. How the frick is asking if his number deserves to be retired a shite question?

Well I can see that. Exactly what is the criterion then, do you think? Theron Sapp's number was retired during his career and really the only special thing he did was beat Tech. Obviously that was long ago, and I don't want to see everyone's number retired but AM was special.

1. The obvious one: he broke every meaningful SEC passing record. Accounted for 137 TDs in the past 4 years. Most efficient QB rating in UGA history. Good numbers.
2. Not football related, but he did a ton off the field. SEC Scholar Athlete, volunteered time to the Extra Special People program, etc.
3. Most importantly, the guy represents exactly what I envision when I hear Damn Good Dawg. He came back for a fourth year to try and win a championship, put the team on his back Marshawn Lynch style, started every game until a torn ACL took him down (although it took 15 plays) - and the whole time he did it because he loved UGA. He never won us the big game, but it's tough to find a guy who worked harder for UGA.
It's a sappy post but I couldn't be more proud of the guy. He worked his arse off for four years and despite all the shite he took about not being able to win the big one, you can't say he didn't leave it all on the field. Just my two cents, I'd love to see #11 immortalized like #34. What say you, Dawg fans?

I don't get why the SEC winning championships forever really matters. There's no question which conference is the best overall. There's no way you'll catch me cheering for another SEC school if UGA doesn't directly benefit from said team winning.

Truly the (almost) end of an era. I've cursed AM's name more time than I can remember but I'll be damned if he didn't leave everything on the field. DGD if I've ever seen one.

Didn't UG get 3 personal flag fouls
Not to mention a few lucky no-calls (or at least they looked that way) like Gurley's punch. Hard fought game on both sides, UGA is lucky considering all the mistakes they made.
That was a great game that sure as hell had me in need of a xanax the entire game. Wouldn't expect anything else from the WLOCP.

Best RB in the country. Even with our WR corps on the bench, he opens up the passing game. Such a badass.

Green has been serviceable. Obviously he's no TGII but it seems to have a lot more to do with the OL play of late than the tailbacks.
re: With a healthy Gurley, what would our record be?
Posted by Pharm_Dawg on 10/19/13 at 3:30 pm to ncdawg
I'm normally not one to blame a bad call for a loss, but that targeting call on Ramik did us in. bullshite call that shifted the game from us getting the ball back to Vandy scoring deep in the 4Q.
The impact of the injuries can't be overstated. Todd Gurley makes this a different game. We basically don't have any receiving threats anymore (Conley apparently sustained a sprained ankle).

It just didn't warrant a penalty. Bogus call that took out one of our best defenders. Thank goodness for that blown screen call. Without that pick six and ensuing momentum we could be in a tight spot.
