re: Former LSU WR Kyren Lacy feared to have taken his life last night
Posted by Javzz on 4/13/25 at 12:36 pm
What were his off the field issues prior to this incident? Celebrations? That’s crap. From all this you can peer into his upbringing & everything about who he was?
That’s complete crap. Kyren was an awesome tiger that was great on the field & had zero incidents off the field during his time here up to the crash. He played with a lot of emotion & it was evident the love he had for LSU.
The accident he allegedly caused ruined a number of lives, including his own. He eventually paid for this mistake with his life. That’s a tragic situation no matter what his potential future prospects were. He deserves every one’s respects for the contributions he provided here. If people feel he doesn’t deserve their sympathies that’s cool, just frick right off with their judgements as that does absolutely nothing for anyone

Bottle scene in Pan’s Labyrinth deserves a mention in this thread

He came from Grand Valley State and didn’t really get enough playing time here to have any kind of pro prospects. He seemed to get better through the year at handling his run fits, especially against double teams. He was really, really good against Oklahoma in his few snaps. I was looking forward to seeing if spending a year in a D1 weight program could take him to the next level.

I’m starting to get concerned that we’re halfway through the third season and we still don’t have any actual answers to any of the questions the show has introduced. Instead of resolving anything they just add more questions to decipher. For anyone that watched LOST was that a similar style? That nothing could be resolved into one big reveal at the very end?
I can’t think of one thing the show has actually resolved.

re: 24 of Nussmeier's 37 passes were 9 yards or shorter target depth - gameplan or QB choice?
Posted by Javzz on 9/3/24 at 2:36 pm
I think it was more Nuss not trusting his protections. Every time he faced any kind of pressure he either had happy feet & threw it away or checked down. That obviously could be a major issue if he doesn’t clean it up.
re: This was loss is 100% on Joe Sloan

Thought we had some good routes called in the second half that Nuss didn’t let develop due to fear of pressure. Specifically the throwaway to Green had Daniels running a man beater which should have been his first option. The check down to Josh Williams he also did because pressure was somewhat close but still had time to find the open crosser. The first fourth down play he threw the ball away completely which simply cannot happen on 4th down.
Not saying Nuss was bad by any means but Miller was much much better. He was willing to stand in the pocket & take pressure as well as trust his guys to make plays. Would have won last night with Moss as our QB and a little fearful of what Nuss may look like when we play a team that brings real pressure consistently.
From what I remember Nuss didn’t have any sacks in the Wisconsin game either. It’s similar to the argument in 2022 with JD and the limited interceptions. Nuss has to be able to stand in the pocket, let plays develop & take some risks. A sack on 3rd down isn’t much different than a 2 yard pass.

Yesterday was one of my favorite days at Palisades/Squaw all time. Got a foot or so both days Friday/Saturday. Large majority light snow. Skied lower elevation trees pretty much all day after a first lap on KT. Areas don't get good snow much this time of year so didn't have much traffic.
Looks to stay pretty cold all week so conditions should mostly hold up for you! Make sure to check out Silverado if it's spinning while you're here. Got opened a week ago or so and has been spinning most days besides this weekend with all the wind/snow. Area is massive with some great terrain, it's trip to first ski it not realizing it's been around this whole time.

It's dinosaur thinking to have QB's run schemes that require all this complex after the snap reads that they'll never have enough time to go through with modern pass rush. Modern offenses simplify the area/number of reads through pre-snap recognition and option routes. Reduce the number of classical "reads" but gives more run/pass options, option routes, etc.
From what I've read from a LSU perspective it seems the biggest issues Scout's have is the simplistic route trees. Part of the advantage someone like Jayden gives you is the running ability is a read in itself which stresses the defense further & with the caliber of athlete at WR there was no need to go any further. In general to be as efficient as possible you run the simpliest thing you can get away with & LSU was an example of that.
From a Jayden development perspective, it'd seem to me it's in Jayden's best interest for LSU showcase him doing the things he does best in order to get drafted as highly as possible. It's the NFL's job to scout talent and develop schemes which best maximize that talent. One of my biggest concerns with Jayden at the pro level is he gets drafted by some team that doesn't tailor the offense around him and tries to shoehorn him into something that doesn't fit his best abilities, IE Arthur Smith with his talent available on the Falcons.

LSU Fans: We're very upset that we're not spending NIL dollars in the transfer portal like Ole Miss!!
LSU Fans after Coach claims player got $300K: No way we'd pay that much!!
Who cares what he got. Good for him if that's what he got. This is an example of a guy going into a smaller program, proving himself on a National Level, and getting an opportunity to play in a program that will better showcase/prepare him for the NFL & get some additional compensation while doing it. It's a win for all parties involved, even Liberty gets to point to his success as proof of their development abilities.
He also potentially fills a major need with Lacy the only returning player w/ sizable production/experience. If Daniels works out that provides a huge boost to our offense & shows an example of our coaching staff identifying a player that fills a need and was acquired for a reasonable price. Again, win for all parties involved.

It’s been a meh season thus far, every storm has underperformed with the snow levels rising. Still have gotten some decent days & pretty much everything is covered at this point although. First week of March is looking very interesting!

Jordan Jefferson looked really good as well, gave old Tyson Jackson vibes back there. If Maason lives up to the hype that gives an elite rotation on the line.

It's hard to see the value of using the #8 pick on Dyson w/ Herb already breaking out if we were going all in w/ our current core. Their skills are redundant and they're not playable together w/ their current offensive abilities. Unfortunately, Dyson really hasn't any scoring ability whatsoever. We don't really have enough shooting even w/ Hawkins to help Dyson run a formidable bench unit.
However, their wasn't much of a home run available at 8. Jalen Williams obviously now but that was a reach when the Thunder took them. I liked Dieng but he's more of a crapshoot than Dyson, but he at least looked like he had scoring ability you could build on compared to Dyson who's just a floater and not much else.

Offensively couldn’t feel much better about how Hawkins looked. Had a couple nice assists/moved the ball well. Shot looked good even though it wasn’t falling. When shot wasn’t falling out the ball on the floor & had a couple nice finishes.
He reminds me a lot of Malik Monk which would be a huge asset on this team.

Second that on Wingo.
Moreso than just adding Smith, we’re also adding Jefferson, Shand, Lee & potentially starting to get contributions from Hill/West.
From that group, at least confident Jefferson will be an impact player. Shand could be. From there Hill & West have potential as well. At the very least, starting out with more depth to work with an avenue to be elite unit if some things work out.

I skied the Blanks on a wet powder day last April in Tahoe. I went with the 194's I think. Getting any kind of turn in absolutely whooped my butt.
Every mountain in Tahoe was above average for the season yesterday AM. Sunday was a very solid storm day on the lower mountain lifts but it was hard to imagine how they were going to handle the additional 6 or whatever feet is coming in. Planning on skiing Saturday-Monday. Should be some pretty rowdy storm days again.

What part of VB is the house??
Cavalier/Marriot are really nice. The downstairs bar (Hunt Room) at the Cavalier is one of the better one’s in VB. Restaurant at the hotel is really good too. The place at the top of the Marriott (Orion’s Roof) is great. Nice view, should be cool in June.
Oscar’s down south on the oceanfront is really nice. CP Shuckers closeby is my favorite bar on the oceanfront. Bit of a dive bar but a good time, think it’s the only bar that stays open past midnight or so.
Shore Drive on the north side of VB is some really nice bay beaches that are more chill than the oceanfront. There’s another CP Shuckers there, food is actually really great.
You must go to TASTE, & go often. Best sandwiches I’ve had in the US. My in laws are in VB so I end up going to TASTE 2-3 times every visit. There’s 4-5 in VB so there’s bound to be one close.
Other than that there’s some cool things within driving distance a number of directions.

Nabers is plenty fast & was our best deep threat.
re: Who is WR3 in 2023?

A note to add is I thought the WR unit seemed to be in a much better flow in the bowl game. Essentially not having any depth forced them to reduce the rotations quite a bit & give guys more consistent playing time. Hoping we keep that trend in 2023 as amount of rotations in 2022 seemed to have more of an adverse effect anything else
Would love to see more of a 4-5 man rotation more than the 6 man rotation played with in 2022
Maybe
Nabers
Lacy
Thomas
Anderson
Ibieta or Freshman with spot duty
With Nabers/Lacy/Anderson being pretty interchangeable at slot

Lacy gets a lot of separation in his routes. Comes out of his breaks with acceleration. Obviously needs to improve his ball skills, but feel like he’s got a chance to have a really good season. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up near WR2 or fizzles out entirely
re: Question regarding Bowers' out of bounds spot. Can an official help explain the call?
Posted by Javzz on 1/1/23 at 2:22 pm
quote:
Item 3. Runner Inbounds. If the ball, while in possession of a player who is inbounds, is declared out of bounds because of touching anything that is out of bounds, the out-of-bounds spot is the yard line through the forward point of the ball at the instant of such touching.
This was the section of the rule that applies to Bowers last night.
Great find.
Not understanding how people are interpreting this?
My understanding is for number #3 to take effect the act that ends the play is either the ball touching out of bounds or someone, other than the player in possession of the ball, is out of bounds & touches it causing the play to end.
That did not occur here. Bowers went of bounds, so I’m not seeing how #2 does not rule here?
This whole talk of what would happen if someone ran all the way down the field with the ball in their hands over the out of bound plane the entire way is stupid. It would literally never happen. Rules are not written for hypotheticals that would never actually happen. I’m curious if someone is tip toeing the side the line with the ball over the out of bounds plane the entire time. If they got five or so yards before eventually going out of bounds where would the ball be? I can’t recall a meaningful play with that happening but surely it’s happened before.
